  1. I've found the NFOW trout tough, but maybe it's just me.
  2. Is it going to be a one state final??
  3. I think Justin and Brian keep their mouths sore.
  4. Long Creek will be best, but you should find an alternate. I'm not sure whether Cricket or 86 is closer pavement wise or which is closer by water, but I don't think there is enough distance difference to worry about in that regard.
  5. We did well the last time I was there on the north back. They were they were always hanging around some wood. Never did any good on the west side south of the Marina? A couple of times we have had to go to Cricket or 86 to get in because there was no place left to park a rig at Long Creek.
  6. To add to it, they have some really nice cabins/small houses facing the river. The last time I was there people were wading across to the island and fishing around it, but I'm sure the river is ever changing so you'll probably have to ask about wading. I don't know what the new water release has done. I would imagine there are still wading areas from Riley's all the way to the dam and that would be a plus. You could fish new water pretty often. I assume he still rents canoes and like hoglaw said you could rent one of his canoes float back.
  7. Bottom yes. I kick myself every once in awhile for selling mine. They are a hand full though and a trailer is a must if you're going far. We used to haul them in the back of the pickup, with the tailgate up, around the river, but that wasn't much highway time.
  8. The peak of the run, as has been said, is over. I'm not too sharp on walleye, but I believe they are attracted to the upper area anytime there is a current. How far were you from the Powersite dam?
  9. The marina is Long Creek it can get crowded when the crappie fishing is hot. It's in a good crappie area when they move to the banks. There's also another marina just south of the state line in AR. It's Cricket Creek.
  10. If you going to run with the giggers I've seen on the Niangua you need a big generator and some high intensity lights.
  11. I'm surprised at the females. If they are already up the season might be short. Maybe the cold has condensed it.
  12. We used to build little prams to use on the creek when I was a little younger. We would build them out of pine plank sides and either plywood or plank bottoms. We would waterproof them, or try, with roofing tar. We found the best way to seal them was to load them up with some rocks and sink them for a couple of days. After they swelled up they were tight enough that a little baling kept them afloat.
  13. I think you hit it on the head hoglaw. Beyond the drug trafficking there is probably no way of knowing how many stoned drivers left there tearing up the back roads.
  14. Get yourself a sit on top kayak and park it on top of your car. Lock the racks and put a cable through a scupper on the kayak and lock it on.
  15. I don't know if it's me or a fact, but it has always seemed to me that trout are picking about size and color of EHC. I have had the rascals turn down a tan body, but eat up and olive body EHC. Justin you should sell that place, it's too much work. I think McDonalds is hiring. Do they have one in Gainesville?
  16. No just the deck.
  17. What do they draw Trigg?
  18. Nice people. http://www.rileysstation.com/
  19. There are areas on the White. If it were me I might consider Riley's Station. There's some wading water around the resort and if you get tired of trout you can rent a boat and go up the Buffalo for smallmouth.
  20. Yup. We don't really have any areas where they have to pile up like a spillway. The Pothole is too big to concentrate them. It's going to be spotty for another week probably.
  21. Given the fact you have free shuttle service I think a Lowe paddle jon would be about right. Finding one would be another problem though. I think Blazer might still be making them, but not sure. It wouldn't take much motor to run through the holes if you weren't loaded down.
  22. Sounds like you should have turned left at Clinton and gone to Bledsoe Ferry. I remember your blog last year about a trip there. I don't think I've ever seen anyone flyfish there.
  23. Well I have to change my pick, how many do I get? I can't go with FL, too obvious. Michigan State! I think I'll ask him. http://youtu.be/_KbGkN2Bkko
  24. Hey, I thought you were the openness of information advocate? Only for smallmouth I suppose.
  25. Where's the chartreuse???
