  1. What was the question again? No I didn't think they would be in the top 10. After winning 2(?) conference games it would be hard to think too high. They have some tough games ahead and if they want to stay in the top 10 they need to regroup quick.
  2. Well I fished the White one time before TR on a Scout fishing trip. I was about 14 I think. I'm not real sure where, but it was just upstream from the James. The reason I know this is we were told by the adults that if we had more time we could have fished the James which was just downstream. There isn't much else for me to tell, we didn't catch much but a few small fish. I think most of us wished we had stayed longer at Roaring River.
  3. Any season that brings a lot of attention will pay some recruiting dividends.
  4. It says you have to PM Phil for a password.
  5. It's all speculation. SC has a good defense and it showed and Mauk did a good job. In my opinion the problem was in the defensive preparation. Mizzou didn't expect to see Shaw, especially a Shaw that was able to move and that I believe was their downfall. I have no doubt that they plays increased technically when he came in a and Mizzou had not prepared for that. It could have been ugly if Shaw had come in in the early part of the game. I'll bet the defense does some serious practice on screen passes this week. OTF did you notice that Baylor won?
  6. A food processor with a plastic dough blade does a pretty good job. It's a bear to clean though.
  7. You would probably have to get in line and buy a ticket.
  8. You had a camera? All I had was a Viewmaster!
  9. Smaller. but not a lot probably.
  10. Ahh so it is probably a bottom gate. That makes sense. I couldn't imagine how a turbine would be effected by the downstream side water level. I imagine the gravel bed is deep enough to drain much of the pool below the dam.
  11. Yes and for many, many years and that is why I know that any thought that one conference, no matter how big it is, should get a bye is ridiculous. The SEC has always had quality teams, but so has some other conferences. I think the fact that they haven't always been able to make it to the big game is probably proof enough. OTF, you make me smile with your logic. You go through Baylor's out of conference games as if they were deal breakers. Can you really in good faith make that comparison when a 2 time national champion is playing GA ST, Chattanooga, and Co ST? As if it really makes a difference? The fact is these second and third tier teams line up to play the big boys. They make big money and get a few extra recruiting points for the scrimmage. There is no standard you can use. A great case in point, LSU vs AL. If LSU hadn't beaten AL before, everyone would have thought that LSU and it's conference didn't belong in the game. None of you can deny that. College football is fun because it is so unpredictable, it's all about hope, no predictions.
  12. Based on? I'm just going by the fact that from year to year the conference bowl records tend to drift. It still comes down to individual match ups and to say they should get an automatic berth in the big game is nonsense.
  13. Based on???
  14. You have to look at the whole picture, not just what the team he played for did. He has no stats for '08 so it's hard to lay too much on him. In the seasons that he has played 11 games or more he stays very close to, or above 60% completions and that's where a QB has to start. He has also had 2 10+ game seasons with only 5 interceptions. I think he has the tools, but he's no Manning, Rodgers or Favre.
  15. I much prefer a dot, but for 2 colors the YK2 seems to be just as effective and too easy too tie. Many years ago a guide in Baldwin MI, Jim? and Phil knows the last name, that was a double with the second egg tied on heavy mono and used as a tag.
  16. My daughter started softball at 7 and played until she was 40.
  17. Talking about Florida and snakes, they don't need copperheads Jerry they have bigger and better except for the pigmy rattlers. I did a firepower demo in Florida many many moons ago and I was on a crew putting bombs together. We were working in a bomb bunker that had rows of bombs stacked up on 6" X 6" timbers and there were 1 or 2 pigmy rattlers under everyone. We never bothered them and they didn't seem to mind us. We cleared most of a row off in one instance and the snake just kept moving back under the remainder and then apparently moved during the night.
  18. Beavers! I can remember a couple of times night fishing when they quietly closed in and then slapped the tail. It's hard not to jump and for your heart to race when you don't expect something that loud and that close on the water.
  19. Would SF have missed the Super Bowl if Smith hadn't been hurt? Smith seems inconsistent, sharp on a series, then not. It's hard to see all on the screen though and there times, more than most people realize, where a QB looks amateurish, but in fact knows he has to get rid of it. In a lot of those instances they miss deliberately. He has a winning percentage, had it with SF, brought it to KC.
  20. I'm having a hard time picturing the reason for the drawdown? Anyone know what effect Taney's level has on the TR dam?
  21. I have a 17' Lowe deep V and I have to agree a rod box between the consoles doesn't look like a good place for it. There's nothing wrong with riveted aluminum bots, millions of them can't be wrong. I can't speak for all makes , but Lowe rarely saw a seeping rivet, probably no more often then a glass boat with a crack along the chine.
  22. The polls are like a funnel and it gets tighter the closer you get to the end. At this stage the top teams only need to win to hold their position. It's very rare this late in the season for a team to drop back if they win. If they do lose the teams behind just move forward in step. It's easy to drop back, hard to move forward unless there is a vacant spot.
  23. I wish they had given a hint of the timeline.
  24. I would be surprised if they would give up the cabins, UNLESS, the park has made them an offer they can't refuse.
  25. Weell, you can't make a comparison with Charlie, he has a thing about having everything. I haven't been in Chatlie's shop in a couple of decades or so, but he had quite a bit of stuff even then so I can only imagine what it's like with the bigger building. Larry didn't push the Orvis brand after he bought it from Springview like I thought he would. Springview had a good following for Orvis products and stocked them accordingly.
