  1. I've tied Clousers on popper hooks and they will insure an upright hook point. I understand that others tie on 60degree jig hooks to insure an upright stance. I imagine you'll have to try it to see whether or not the hook gap will make a difference.
  2. If you're not looking for an all around 8wt you should seriously consider a blank designed for streamers.
  3. I think you'll like it, not to mention the price. I've used it for many years after discovering it at a $1 a bottle while looking foe something with glitter in it.
  4. It is the wire gauge. Sometimes you can get away with a nymph hook for a dry, but never with a fly that sits on the tail and front hackle, IMO. Actually length has nothing to do with it. Some hooks seem to be stronger for their gauge, TMC's come to mind, but its an opinion.
  5. How did that smallie taste you got on the stringer? Did you fry it?
  6. I'm not so sure the "cheaper" is going to be cheaper. If you listen close in the video on treating he points out that if they find some uncoated felt anywhere you it. I would hate to go to all that trouble and then find that a small area had worn through during the day.
  7. Sounds like a good time.
  8. Welcome! There are others on here from Neosho.
  9. I would see if the Clouser or Bank Robber is available. Looks like the Bank Robber is, $280. It was designed by a guy, Kelly Galloup, who is fond of big articulated streamers.
  10. While daylight controls a lot of what and when the environment makes changes, many are dependent on temerature alone and the spawning run is one of them. It wno't happen because of a spike, even though that might make them show if it last long enough. Rain is another factor because a warm rain can change a rivers temperature quickly.
  11. Treating them would seem to have it's problems. Here is the video on treating and the perils that it may bring. http://mdc.mo.gov/media/video/treating-felt-soled-waders
  12. Jack it could be productive, especialy putting in at Horse Creek and fishing the shoals hard.
  13. I told my senator what I thought about spliting wildlife control into two groups, one for management and one for vigilante animal control.
  14. I've heard that it means rain, but it's probably just a myth.
  15. I agree it's a good use of an area few ever see. Solor panels aren't that hard to make, time consuming, but not dificult or that expensive in comparison to commercial units.
  16. Flush for what? All to often they come in the middle of the run and flush the eggs into the lake.
  17. While I haven't made the trip from TR to Powersite often enough to be sure, 3 to 4 hours seems about right. I know this doesn't compute so my theory is that the incoming water tends to "push" Taney faster than the current appears. They generally generate at Powersite when TR is releasing. They don't seem to like water coming over the dam if they can avoid it.
  18. Like all MDC tickets I would assume it will go to a county judge. The end result will be that if you're local a slap on the hand, from STL or KC $50, from Kansas jail time.
  19. I don't always rib mine, but when I do its either silver wire or black thread. I think the bi color will work anywhere because it's a stage. Aside from that its the usual herl collar and smallest bead. I haven't fished the Illinois in quite a few years. My friends parents owned the first farm below the dam on the west side. We fished it when they first started stocking it. It was good deer and duck hunting also.
  20. Why would you pass on the Rock? If it were me it would be TR, Truman and LOZ. These are probably the three best bass lakes in the state for visitors.
  21. While I'm not fan of the solar farms, rooftop panels only take up space already in use by man. If they ever get them priced where they should be they could have real impact.
  22. Well don't overlook grubs. Grubs in green pumpkin, watermelon, black, and pumpkin are hard to be overall and if you throw in 1/8, 1/4 and 3/8 oz jigs you have a lot of options taking up a littl space and a little money. Drag them or swim them. You can also use the jigs with Zoom finese worms and between the two you should be good in the plastic department to start.
