  1. There used to be a thriving fishing business on the western Missouri and carp was a big part of it. It died off quite a bit when they shut down a lot of it making sorting unprofitable. A carp 10# or bigger has bones that are a managable size.
  2. I have a Traveler also and they are a nice vise, BUT if you're buying new they don't offer enough perks to justify the cost for the average tyer. IMO.
  3. A Regal for most of my tying. I can't complain, its 28 years old and still going strong. I like the fact that I can put an 18 in it and then a 4 without any adjustment and it will hold either tight enough that you can bend them.
  4. Look good. What size are you tying for what?
  5. I cheat and generally start with a black turning red, about 1/3 blk and 2/3rds red. The 18 Gnat is my goto dry.
  6. Midge hatches are common and Griffins Gnat always works for me. When you come in on 165 check with the flyshops for current information. They have guides and know what is working.
  7. I picked up a set of Korker Predators at a great price. I haven't had them wet, but I like the other features. If the wire lacing system holds up it will rival sliced bread in handy. I'm not a fan of studs and any boots that offer an interchange would be a plus. The bottom line will be what comes close to felt, if you really need it. Upper Taney and BSSP aren't too bad unless you fish the dam at BSSP.
  8. I would go with a Cabelas line. They aren't bad lines, especially when you can invest $30 instead of $75 in something experimental. You'll have to match the sink rate to your fishing. They're no fun to cast, especially a full sink.
  9. I had a lab like that. I always left him outside the blind and if a bunch came in and nothing fell he would turn and stare at the blind.
  10. I'm game TC, when it's warmer. I survived your other go at the sticks and I know you're better now. I ain't skeerd.
  11. You're kind of all over the place OB. Rapidly over several continents? Dead in 48 hours or several weeks? ??
  12. I've had a lot of battles to fight in the last couple of years and the few trips I made with my son and the MFU guys are near and dear to this old heart.
  13. I have a soft spot for the fly rod Hula Popper when it comes to LM.
  14. I suspect it will really hit the fan when they realize that mesh panels can catch moss and that virtually all wading boots have them.:-)
  15. The pontoon would probably work best for you. Given the storage constraints you will want one with a frame that breaks down. I would also go with bladders. You shouldn't have wind issues on the James. The wind issues I've experienced have been on lakes and western canyons.
  16. I believe felt or porous soles is the key. Flip flops or the cheap wally world slip ons wouldn't apply would they?
  17. I think it often depends on the fish. A fresh steelhead can put any reel to the test. I've got some AT Harts that have smooth drags out of the gate and an original Ross that doesn't like to hurry.
  18. Wow! So you eat yours with the hair on too?
  19. Black and yellow marabou jig X2.
  20. We buy it it butchered. I thought everybody did.
  21. We still eat butchered cows at my house.
  22. Another option is to cut them into chunks and smoke them for about 20-30 and then can them. Use them like tuna and salmon.
  23. :D So true TC, so true.
  24. There's quite a bit of information on net about the Pommel. Where, when, what, etc. is available.
