  1. Best thing I've found is to put them between my legs with the tips over the bow. I can't seem to manage more than two in my Yaks though.
  2. Thats just too old. They dropped the canoe rental business??? How about as a takeout?
  3. Well thats Missouri, and its weather. Win some, lose some.
  4. To me its the big Mo. When I was a kid we would make a big trip once in awhile to the lake, there was only one, LOZ. When I was on my own it was creeks and rivers, and like you, clear was when you could see something a 1" under the surface.
  5. A bikini hatch is inevitable on any decent Missouri stream, but the degree varies. The run from Noel to Cowskin isn't real bad. Cowskin canoe rental is a good source if you don't have a canoe. You end at their campground, with a secure parking area.
  6. What county Oneshot? I spent much of my youth in Grundy.
  7. DT, if I'm not mistaken its illegal to kill and abandon any wildlife in Missouri, not to mention it stinks things up and draws flies.
  8. Looks like y'all missed the worst of it, radar shows a real nasty storm headed that way. Oh well, we need the water.
  9. Thats a dandy, we're going to try it this next week, if its not in the fields.
  10. If I remember right they started showing up on the north side of the Red in the early 70's, which is also about the time I saw a Road Runner in NE Oklahoma. Global Warming or not, the winters have been getting easier since the late 50's.
  11. Link= State Water Plan
  12. Biologist say that one of the drawbacks to Striper's, and their hybrids, is that they naturally wander.
  13. Its my understanding that when they find bacteria in a river the size of the Spring, it requires a source that is bigger than runoff, and more than likely from a fluid leakage with a high level of bacteria.
  14. Turkeys are native to Missouri, but were killed out. The original reintroduction was the native strain, but it was found that they didn't do as well as some others.
  15. Till their red.
  16. Given the location I would make sure they are labeled legally.
  17. Good choice Chief.
  18. Maybe its poetic justice, but from 65 it looks like the moss bed has stalled in the area above the landing.
  19. I've been told and read, that crawdads and crabs start to decay immediately and that they can make you sick just that quick because of the low cooking temperatures. I've never tested it however.
  20. Apparently you've never seen one with the afterburners kicked in.
  21. Don't overlook Long Creek arm of Table Rock, it has a good population of Smallies. Its also easy to reach.
  22. Someone Else's experience may differ, but I've seen no Flatheads caught out of there. I heard that a big one was caught off the pier on the east side several years ago, but you know how rumors go.
  23. Just a note of caution, never cook dead ones.
  24. Good old plastic.
  25. I've been cooking in Dutch's for years and there is no limit. Recipes suitable for an oven or a crock pot work fine. I like the control of briquet's, but hardwood coals work well also. Clean up with hot water doesn't hurt my feelings either.
