  1. I don't think thats necessary, an off limits area would be enough. Back them off and you eliminate the "lift" which is responsible for most of the snagging.
  2. My camera takes the SD memories, so it could be set up to take a movie of an active cloud. I processed the movie that my wife made and it was no problem to pick out individual frames, and they were sharp. What I don't know is what the quality would be given the settings I have available.
  3. OK, I thought 3 started at the bridge. I do know that the last time I went through, a week ago, there were people swimming there. Of course I've seen more violations at RR the last 2-3 years then anywhere else. I don't know if its a manpower problem or what, but I don't go that often to see what I see.
  4. Given the fact you're ready to wade, and there's two of you, could you use a prop guarded motor?
  5. Good Jon boats on good trailers seem hard to come by, even without motors.
  6. I was thinking there were signs prohibiting wading in the area of the campgrounds at zone 3? At least a year ago or so.
  7. ecce38, maybe its your approach to these teens. I have two grandsons that never quibble about releasing fish, and the 15 year old released a 7-8lb bass just last year. Even when fish are being kept they understand the concept of keeping what you will really use. Much of their training came from example, I released most of my fish when my son was young, he followed, and they follow.
  8. I just wish the "Trophy" area was set up to grow trophies, such as C&R for all fish over 12"'s.
  9. Wish you well, and glad to see you back.
  10. So those were your tracks I was standing in!
  11. Thursday huh? How long is your pass good for?
  12. I think they would have been ahead if they had simply said anything containing animal fats, oils, or a synthetic equivalent will be considered bait. Flys could be anything on a single hook that have materials glued or tied and are under a certain weight. Artificial, anything made to resemble bait that doesn't fit the description of bait.
  13. Here's a picture from July.
  14. Can you do a movie, and then pick frames? I haven't used that feature on mine, but the wife ran a short take of some kids and you could pick individual frames?
  15. No, the Buffalo hasn't been kind this year, but the scenery makes me keep trying. For me the rivers offer a lot that goes beyond the catching. Dano, thought about you when I went through Harrison.
  16. Taken October 14
  17. Foam is plastic, so it has to go beyond that. It seems that MDC is dancing around a concept that if you create a fly using materials made of plastic its legal, if its premolded it isn't. Then there's the good old plastic Rapala???? Rubber legs, rubber worms? I don't think they met the criteria of having fly fishermen attempt to tear the regulations apart before they implemented them, or they didn't listen.
  18. This is somewhat misleading. First and formost is that the initiative has to do with Stem Cell research, and human cloning beyond that would be outside the scope of the measure, and second this procedure for stem cell creation is considered too expensive at present to develop a large following. The key is "expensive", hence "(4) No person may, for valuable consideration, purchase or sell human blastocysts or eggs for stem cell research or stem cell therapies and cures."
  19. Hey Bork, I appreciated the information and found it very interesting, but given the fact that I know the Missouri Spring isn't exactly a Trout mecca, the fact that they were anywhere in the Spring would have had the same affect. Oh, and thanks.
  20. does anyone remember all the research on "super conductive material" a few years ago that would revolutionize electricity, electronics, etc.? Where did that money go and what did we gain from it?
  21. If we could get one of these a couple of times a month the river would flow again. It was raining when we left Tyler Bend yesterday, and it looks like it is still raining in Dan's country. I have 3"s in my gauge.
  22. I would think that many would consider curing the handicapped and saving lives vital. There can be no doubt that if large sums of money are going to be made available for research, then there has to be some guarantees of completion to be present. The legislature can't be depended upon for that. Much of the debate centers on when life begins, and that seems arbitrary. Americas great achievements haven't come from government controlled research, but from the private sector. We should be thankful that the transistor was invented before the government broke up the evil At&T.
  23. You haven't seen anything until you've seen the sides of a van expand and contract!
