  1. I wish MDC would be as kind to us.
  2. We're hoping to have a successful rendezvous on the G'nade this weekend, but it looks like it could, literally, be a washout.
  3. Yup, I often wish that people on Taney taking multiple pictures of fish would, well hold their breath during the whole ordeal.
  4. Well both my buyers backed out, not because of the canoe, but for other reasons. Where do you live Hank?
  5. Nice color.
  6. This was an issue back in 2004, and I can't exactly remember all the details except that a weak DNR combined with an all out assault by the Farm Bureau, with the help of Sarah Steelman, pretty much watered down what the MDC, Alliance and others wanted. The opposition didn't want gravel mining ended, just controlled in a manner that protected the streambeds, but...........? Al Agnew is well acquainted with the details and I'm sure he can fill us in when he see's this.
  7. I caught some I would put at between 7-8". And I would say the bulk of what I caught would range 10" or shorter. The thing that has me curious is because that represents the fish, and fish in the 10"-12" were rare for me.
  8. Well while we're on the subject, what is the source of the Rainbows below Powersite? They seem, as a group, to be too small to be from the hatchery.
  9. I believe its sold. The weight is the reason I want to sell it, combined with the length its just too much for me now.
  10. I'm planning on hitting it later in the week. It doesn't appear to have been blown out by the storms. I hope you left me a few.
  11. It lasted well into the night, but I don't believe it ever rained hard enough to avoid a lot of it soaking in. Never saw any hail, but thats alright, we got more than our share last month.
  12. Just a thought, but could it be that only certain strains are capable of spawning here. Possibly the ideal genetic make up crosses with the ideal condition????
  13. I'm sure the flow has a big effect on the Whites because they broadcast their eggs and they need current to scatter and aerate them I'm told. I suppose they know how much.
  14. Brian, have you given up on the Needle Knot?
  15. Thats ominous! I hope Springfield hasn't sprung some leak.
  16. Maybe there is a hint in the tree blossoms. They virtually all bloomed within a week, which is very unusual, if not unheard of. While the light didn't change, the Temperature average did and it affected the water. I have read that some biologist believe that fish eggs are protected from spoilage only when deposited in a certain temperature range. Low water, high temperatures, low flows, and the list goes on????
  17. There is one at Lilley's on Tuesday's. I'm not sure of the schedule but I'm sure someone get back to you.
  18. I agree, but I believe RR is more kid friendly then Bennett. RR is smaller and would be easier for her to reach the fish and no one wades so she can remain equal with the other fishermen. When she gets bored, she can use the playground equipment.
  19. gone
  20. I haven't used them, but I'm not sure they will reach. From the water they look like they may be as far as they can go.
  21. I would estimate 200, maybe more? I don't really think they did, but to be honest I thought they may have been surprised at the turnout. I understand that the meeting was called as an after thought because of a lot of pressure from an individual. The state representative Maynard Wallace was there along with the sheriff and an officer from the prosecutor's office and they weren't there to support the state. The sheriff was extremly helpful in offering alternatives to the littering and property damage issues. Mr. Wallace was very blunt in opposing any closures. It seems that they are going to work with volunteers, I signed up, to work things out, but it remains to be seen if this will bring compromise or they will just overwhelm a few and claim they listened. The bottom line seems to be that the MDC would like things neat, and an ever aging population wants accessibility to what they rightfully believe is theirs. I was surprised at the number of uniformed agents, eight, maybe more, that were there.
  22. Well the MDC, the Corps, and the FS came well armed and protected with agents from the MDC and a couple from the FS. I'm not sure what the purpose of the many MDC agents was, but there were quite a few there. Well it was close to heated at several points with a pretty much unanimous opinion that the complaints of offroad damage and littering being addressed as they are everywhere, with emphasis on the violators and not by closing everyone off. If anyone has any specific questions, I'll try to answer them, but I believe the OzarkExplorer site will have a more detailed observation. The owner of that site took the agencies to task on some points and did a good job of it.
  23. Thats also not a common brand in this area, hope someone spots it and the theives get their due.
  24. I see your point tangled, but people do the same thing to our roads and we don't close them because people have a need for them. Trash is a problem, but it not only affects accesses, it affects all areas in the outdoors, and in my travels, all states.
  25. No they're not, there were quite a few people swimming at the mouth of Swan last evening. Is it still April?
