  1. What was the purpose of the wire?
  2. Not like that. While I agree it happens, it generally doesn't happen when a DB follows the player 3 steps out of bounds and shoves him when the line is clear to an obstruction. I can't remember one more blatant.
  3. I have to agree that joeD is miles from the facts. During a season any team that has a good statistical defense makes changes for every game and the DC calls a game just as the OC does. I'm sure that Mizzou had a defense at some time during the season that would have fit better, but even if the didn't, there was the one that brung 'em, the 4 down! As for Josey, I have to agree it was a dirty hit, too much time away from the sideline the DB to think about it and look ahead. It couldn't have been anymore deliberate. White should have been ejected. When it comes to the bowl games Mizzou/OSU is probably the best match-up of all of them, or should be. I find it hard to think Auburn is a good match-up. Auburn had some close games, was somewhat one dimensional on offense and you have to believe they have improved over the season. I still believe Alabama was the better team, but grudge games are generally unpredictable.
  4. I suspect that it's the Heddon Dowagiac Minnow. I have a couple of Woodchoppers, newer models, and they seem "fatter and with a different bend on the prop.
  5. Those have some age on them. The top one looks to be a Babe Oreno, I can't recall the second one, but I've seen it. The red and yellow lure in the picture is a Crazy Crawler. The 4th looks like a jointed River Runt, but I don't know if the made them in wood or without hangers. I don't think it's a Heddon. 5 and 6, no idea.
  6. I don't know OTF, maybe the SC game was a hint? When Shaw came in I'm sure the plays got more complicated and MO should have been ready just in case, but they weren't. F&F I kind of agree with your assessment, except maybe the NC and the Sugar. FSU has a top defense and better than Bama's and a coordinator better than MO. I look for FSU to get ahead a slowly pull away. The Sugar, not this season. For what ever reason Stoops is much better in the regular season than in the bowls. He also doesn't have a strong team this year, the starting defense in the middle is gone, and while the replacements have real improved, they aren't the team captains that were lost. The DB's are very talented and athletic, top notch, but young and prone to mistakes. The receivers are also very talented, but hampered by height and easy to cover at times. In the end, while I would love for them to put it on 'Bama, I don't have much hope without and extra large dose of Sooner Magic!
  7. All this for an old dollar plug? My dad bought me this in the early 50's and it was so unique I was afraid to fish it. You can't see the line tie, but it is a loop of wire and when it's jerked the legs kick. It's called a Jensen Frog
  8. I believe it's an old Heddon Meadow Mouse. It might be a copy though, the hangers don't look Heddon, but everything else does?
  9. Should be a great match up. OSU is very strong, but got caught by a team that is always dangerous, especially with the added historical grudges.
  10. I would love to see Mizzou play one of the old Big 8, just for old times sake. The thing that disappoints me about Mizzou is that I can't for the life of me understand why they would run a pass defense against a strong running team? 3 down and LB's back is a pass/prevent defense, period. When you give up twice as many points to a team as you have allowed all year and allow almost as many points as a FCS team does, someone didn't report for work.
  11. All of the Buffalo, done some. Tavern and EP above Greer like Jerry said. Finley Lower Flat, I've paddled up some. Bull 160 to Taney, yeah I know it's in my backyard. All of the Current, only done one stretch St Francis I've been on War Eagle with Ham and while it's worth floating there is a lot of slow water, like the Osage Fork. IMO
  12. Me too. They had to expect AU to run, they were averaging over 400 if I'm not mistaken and MU was only allowing around 200, so why change? The seemed to be stuck on the A&M mentality looking for the threat to be outside, and it wasn't.
  13. My thoughts exactly. Why would you not run the 4 man front that brung you knowing the opposition lives and dies by the run? I'm thinking it was number 21.
  14. Yea AU was doing everything right and running all over MU....by 1 point as it turned out. On a lighter note UCF beat a 5-6 team by 4 points to win their conference and now gets a major BCS bowl to play something new to them, a ranked team.
  15. It wouldn't seem so. Mizzou has to stop the inside run. Hopefully now that they know that 3 down sucks they will stay with 4 down and settle down. Auburn doesn't have a DGB.
  16. I hope I can get out before the thaw and take some pictures from the Forsyth viewpoints. they give a vista of many miles.
  17. Well I have to point out that every team is different and every game plan is also different. Pinkel is very good coach, maybe outstanding, but some coaches have problems with games like this. It's funny you mention Oklahoma 2007 because since 2000 stoops has had trouble getting his team ready. My feeling is that Mizzou will prevail. I'm generally opposed to predictions, doesn't seem to be my skill. My reasoning is in the fact that the teams are almost a perfect match with the big difference being Auburn leans to rushing while Mizzou is more passing. This bring me to lean toward Mizzou without prejudiced because Mizzou is a very good rushing defense, better than Auburn is a passing defense. I also think Pinkel has a better team then he did in '07 while that OK team wasn't outstanding, I don't think Pinkel was ready for the pressure then. The spread I saw was +2 Mizzou which is virtually nothing and probably a nod too Auburn's proximity to Atlanta. So Mizzou wins the SEC, gains a big, big prize for the trophy case and the recruiting war, gets an inconsequential bowl game while the "Big" 3 wait for the big game.
  18. Quit here at 8 1/2" now just a white landscape and cold.
  19. Yes I believe that's right. I've watched college FB for many decades and for the life of me I cannot see where an all SEC NC shows they are a stronger conference. In fact it might be construed as a sign that they have a major weakness overall. They play there better out of conference games to start, so no love there. They are a premiere conference, but with 13 teams from prime FB areas they should be. The Big 12 tended to be stronger in the southern half then in the northern half and the PAC 12 also tends to be stronger in its southern half.
  20. I just measured and we have 7" here. We got a very small amount of rain, then maybe 1/4" of sleet. We've had snow since, but it's light now, 12;00.
  21. Yes it is. The idea that it is traditional is bull also. They didn't have outboards or paved roads to sell salmon out of the back of a truck traditionally either.
  22. Mic are those the Bureau of Reclamation lakes? I know there were some nice size lakes on private land built by that agency in Oklahoma.
  23. The town is Sisters, the three are the peaks. It's west of Redmond. The Metolious is right there, Camp Sherman is is the town, and the Deschutes and McKenzie near. The McKenzie is the origin of the drift boat. You should take him up on it. The native wild redbands are special and the bull trout in the Metolious big. I lived about 25-30 miles east of Sisters.
  24. Tennessee isn't that far out, 1998. The same could be said of Missouri last year, especially given their overall record, yet the were 3 points away from being in hot pursuit.
