  1. Hey J-Doc, Whats the total weight of the boat, outboard, and trailer?
  2. I've been pretty happy with most the havoc stuff, so I imagine these would follow suit. The keitechs and the bass pro knock offs are pretty pricey. I'll pick up a bag of the havocs when I see them to try them out.
  3. You have to click on more reply options next to the post button and there will be the option to attach files.
  4. Four 6+ lb bass huh? Pics or it didn't happen... Just kidding. Nice work. My favorite place to fish in the city/county is at Forest Park's Jefferson Lake. I like to think I know the pond pretty well because I fish it nearly every day during my lunch break at work. I don't always expect to catch many fish, but they are usually of decent quality. I can usually catch one or two on my lunch break. Some days it can be on fire. My favorite day was one time last summer when it was scorching out. It was probably July and high noon (my lunch break), hot, humid, and no wind whatsoever. It was not your ideal day for topwater. Regardless, I had a super spook junior tied on and I must have found a school bass about 10 feet out from the shore. It was like they were having a competition to see who could hit the spook the hardest. One bass came up to hit it and knocked it like 5 feet in the air. Didn't catch any huge ones that day but caught several 2 lbers. It was a blast. One morning I also caught a catfish there with a spook, that was pretty funny.
  5. What are you more interested in - depth contour and ability to mark spots , or a more detailed view of whats underneath. I have an elite 4x dsi, and it is a decent unit that will display what is underneath you pretty accurately. In hindsight I wish I would have gotten the elite 4 b/c of the chartplotter. Also, make note that the dsi will not have "fish arches" that appear on the traditional sonar. The higher frequencies used will make fish only appear as specks on the screen.
  6. I was using a Wooly Bullee trailer by Yum. I think you can find them at Walmart for like $1 a bag sometimes, so I always stock up if I can find them.
  7. Well my boss finally rewarded me for long hours worked during the budgeting process, and gave me an early day off today. I figured I'd put in some casts at forest park. I usually fish there on my lunch break, and it has been pretty tough fishing as of late. Outside of one really windy day where they were attacking a bladed jig, I have been lucky if I even ended my lunch break with one fish. The water has been crystal clear. Today, they were on fire. The water really muddied up after the storms and the fish were inhaling the jig I was swimming through the grass. I even picked one up on a buzzbait. The fish would hit the jig as I would pull it through the grass. They didn't really want it popped out, more of just reeling it through after the tension built up. The hits weren't very hard, lots of times it felt as if it was just more grass, or I would see the line moving sideways. I was using a black and blue jig with a yum woolee boolee (i think) trailer. Basically just a craw. I will post pictures shortly.
  8. I'll fold against that hand... I just meant in regards to weather websites.
  9. I find the weather.gov website to be the most reliable.
  10. ^^^ This is awesome. Great idea.
  11. The ringed PT swimbaits are great. Got your stuff yesterday in the mail. figured I'd try em out today on my lunch break. Caught one on the clear salt & pepper rigged on a swimbait hook. Caught another on the baby bass color as the trailer on a chatterbait. Can't wait to try out the rest of the tackle. Good work Mike!
  12. I have a shimano bantam black magnum for sale. It is model number BKM-200fs. I'm not really sure what is a fair price for this reel. Tried to scope it out on ebay but there aren't really many for sale. I'll listen to any reasonable offer. I'm also interested in trading for some tackle. I'm really looking for some chatterbaits, Carolina keepers, and some shakey heads with screw locks. Let me know if interested.
  13. I have one 4600C left that I forgot I had. Abu Garcia Ambassadeur Bass 4600 C
  14. I prefer the dual brakes, Like a Pro Qualifier or a Lew's Tournament Pro. Just my personal prefence. I think I whip my wrist a little too much at the beginning of casts, so if I had to pick just one, I would pick centrifugal since they cover me in that regard. My thumb can worry about the end of the cast.
  15. C4s and C3s are sold.
  16. I sent you a message.
  17. Emails sent, PMs replied.
  18. I have several Abu Garcia Reels for sale. C4s and C3 are sold. 2 Abu Garcia Silvermax - $30 each All reels show some use, but are in pretty decent shape. Mechanically they are in good shape, might just need a cleaning internally. I can email pictures upon request. May be interested in trades.
  19. This is even better if you can cure it in the fridge for 24-48 hours. Cover the fish with the rub and wrap it up with plastic wrap tightly. Put it in the fridge overnight, flip it over the next night - then when you are ready to smoke the fish, rinse off the rub. The flavor will have really penetrated the meat at this point and make for some delicious eating.
  20. Can't go wrong with a smoke grub on a 1/8oz roundball jig head, topwater popper, buzzbait, and tx rigged worm or tube, maybe throw in a squarebill crankbait and a spinnerbait and you pretty much have any situation covered,. I typically fish 8-12lb mono based on the kind of cover on the pond. I prefer baitcasting gear just as a personal preference but spinning is totally ok. Most my rods are like a 6'6" m-mh. If there are a bunch of lily pads or matted grass, a frog is pretty fun as well. You will need to switch over to at least 30lb braid if you are doing that.
  21. Awesome, sounds like you had fun. Thanks for the reply.
  22. Hey Billethead, nice report. I'm heading down to theFt. Walton Beach area and I'm goin to be doing some Redfishing in the Santa Rosa Sound. What kind of tackle were you using?
