  1. You should have a blast Smallywally. I would stick to topwaters and flipping plastics around the heavy wood.
  2. cut shad for blues and channels. big sunfish for flatheads.
  3. Great pics of the cave. Looks like you had a good trip.
  4. We made it down to our place on the 17th after going by Welch spring ,Akers ferry, and Devils well. Did some bank fishing during the week on the jacks and caught a 17-3/4" smallie along with some little guys and goggle eyes. Its is my personal best so far on the Jacks. We floated from Buck to Rymers on the 21st and the water was low. A fair amount of dragging and helping my daughter learn to kayak kept the fishing limited. We only crashed our canoe once. The big boulder blocking the riffle just above Blue spring was the troublemaker. We had to hustle to make our check out spot but got to see our local stretch of water for the 1st time up close. We really enjoyed the Jam Up cave. We learned a few things. There are very few signs to mark where you are on the the river. Kinda know my way now but wasn't sure if we had passed Rymers or not. There is a lot of shallow water up there. But the deep pools with a good mix of boulders and wood are full of fish. Saw just about everything, gars, suckers, drum, pumpkinseeds, bluegill, goggle eye, smallmouths but very few largemouths. Must have seen a hundred turtles. Didn't see any bedding bass but they may spawn deeper with that clear water. We did Greer spring, big spring,Johnson shutins, and Elephant rock on the way home. That area, the upper Jacks and Mountain View area is great. Waking up at our small cabin to whippoorwills and all the sounds of nature.
  5. Working on it KCRIVERRAT. This time next year will probably have one there. Let me know if you hear of a good used one on the cheap.....Our place is pretty close to Blue Spring...north side. This trip just want to see that local stretch. The last few trips down have been cutting brush and digging. This one is going to be mostly for fun.
  6. We are going to try to see greer spring this trip as well. We will probably have just 1 full day on the water but several afternoons fishing and playing from the bank. Let us know how it went Steve and have a blast!
  7. Me too Mark. I hope the rains get done before our trip.
  8. Thanks guys. We have been to the old mill and spring. The iron wheel is pretty neat. Fished the gravel bar just above the ramp last time and caught 1 rainbow. We want to check Greer as well.
  9. Windy's shows a Buck to Rymers trip..drop off at 8 am , pick up at 5pm. It will be a week day for sure and before the holiday weekend.
  10. I have heard some good reports from some of my buddies there. They were up on some flats but most on steep banks in coves.
  11. We will be spending some time near Turner Mill in a week or so, my wife loves to take pictures. Is it mostly trout water, smallmouth, or both in that area? Trout stamp needed, even for catch and release? Bait restrictions? Any cool areas nearby?
  12. We will be spending a few days at our property near Mountain View and want to float that area, probably a Buck Hollow to Rymers. Any suggestions on canoe rental, interesting areas... etc....? Have heard that jam up cave is worth a look. It should only take a 4-5 hours but will stop and fish quite a bit .
  13. Cats will smack a plug fairly often. More so as the water warms up.
  14. Catfish trip?
  15. Hope you catch him, I hate people who steal. A flashy rig like that should be easy to spot. I'd ask around a few gas stations to see if any one saw it, maybe they could get more video on it, tag #'s etc...
  16. I hope to find out soon. All work and no play is just about over for a while.
  17. hmmmm,,,an interesting question. 1. The multiple patterns, a lot of different baits and locations. Deep, shallow, pockets, bluffs, chunk rock...suspended fish in deep trees. Upper lake, mid lake, dam area, Long creek. 2. Talent...these guys are studs,,On day 1...90th place had a limit , 10 pounds or so...Last time I fished Table rock was in the late 90's after the LMBV hit the lake. so those numbers of limits seem awesome. 3. The pros go nuts over old warts..I will have to admit, there might be something to the old warts being a good prespawn crankbait on the Ozarks lakes...Myself , I have 100's of hours cranking warts with little to show for it. Now give me a bagley killer b2 and ............. .
  18. Great finish !! I was expecting Mark Davis to be singing about now. The wart bite seemed to working for just about everyone.
  19. upper jacks? I hope to come down soon and spend more time fishing then working. Hoping the 18" and 1 fish limit will make it really good in the next few years.
  20. Most of the guys I've talked to have targeted them on flats near the old channel just above the Hurricane deck bridge, but all parts of the lake are good. Big cut shad on big hooks.
  21. We were down there last weekend but had too much work to do on the land. Any fish biting?
  22. Most of my smallie fishing up here is in dingier water so I can use double willow leaf spinnerbaits , square bills, and texas rigs or jigs on heavy line. A buzzbait seems to produce a lot of strikes but with few hook ups. A few years ago, a white monsor jig tipped with a matching paca chunk did wonders. Now down south, such as the Jacks Fork, smaller baits seem to work better. A 4" worm rigged either texas style or on a shakey head is my favorite for now. One thing I have noticed, so far, is that wood with depth has been more important than just deep pools or boulders. Next trip down , I plan to find out what the rebel craw crankbait bite is about as well as seeing if I can get a few topwater bites.
  23. I have a strong hunch with KVD, and not just because he is KVD. He is PO'D after his poor finish in Florida and he does well on Table Rock. And he has been known to throw a crankbait and jerkbait from time to time.
  24. I won't be down for a few weeks but hope they start biting soon.
  25. Probably only 10" for me, but I haven't fished there much. Now at Bull Shoals I know there are some monster crappie. I caught an 18" one there and seen several dandies. The look like black hub caps in those bushes.
