Thank you everyone for your replies. I haven't been able to check the website for a while because of an illness and because I'm an old dude I forgot I even put the question out there which is basically what I do everyday is forget something! My boat, motor and trailer way less than 2300 lb so I'm pretty certain I don't even need the surge brakes just like a couple of you said. And if I do decide to do something with it I will check with the gentleman in Reed Springs. Thank you again for everyone's help! Chris

I have an old 2001 single axle boat trailer with surge brakes. There hasn't been much upkeep on it in the last dozen years. I am taking the boat out for an out of state trip for the first time in years in April. I know there's a lot of trailer dealers and boat repair shops down here. Are there any good boat trailer repair shops? My surge brakes are shot and my brake fluid reservoir has rusted through to where the cap does not screw on the reservoir on the front of the trailer. My boat is a 17 ft deep v aluminum, I don't think I need the brakes but I would just feel better if I had them. Thanks for your help

hello everyone, i normally take some vacation time in april and may for crappie and/or bass. with this crazy weather so nice so early i was wondering if anyone is out going after crappie or anything else. or, is it still too early?

thank you, i'm not trying to be a smartass, just wanting to learn. besides the obvious on a missing blade, what is the difference between a swimming jig and a spinnerbait? why would you use a swimming jig over a spinnerbait or a spinnerbait over a swimming jig?

thank you wrench, i was hoping that you would reply. i have seen you refer to the red eyed shad in the spring, is that something that you would also try now? this afternoon i caught 3 small bass, 1 on a pointer jerkbait and 2 on a chrome & blue rattle trap.

It's such a beautiful weekend I thought I would go out for a few hours and see if I could find some bass. I see the water temp is around 55 here in the north shore area, in the spring I would be moving closer to the shoreline with that temp, does that go for the fall/early winter also? Should I be in the backs of coves? Thank you

Since there is absolutely nothing to do because of all of the new guidelines and rules that are in place right now, I thought that I would try to go out and do some fishing this week. This will be the first time out for me this year and I'm not sure where the fish will be. I thought I would try the Gravois arm starting at the upper end. I hope that you will all follow the rules set by the political bosses and give me some social distancing. If you could let me have about 5 miles of the arm at that end that would be great. Unless of course I'm not catching anything and then I would ask you to give me more social distancing at the lower end of the arm. I'm sure if everyone would pitch in, follow the rules and let me fish the areas by myself with no one else around I should hopefully be able to scratch up a limit even with my basic knowledge and skill. I'm starting a petition to outlaw all leaf blowers on the lake. I would rather listen to a politician than those annoying machines all day long. There were 8 kids in my family, first of all we could never afford one of those confounded machines and I don't even think they were around back then anyway, and even if we could dad would of told us all to get our asses out there and rake em. We actually didn't mind doing that 50 years ago, it cleared the yard for us to play kick the can later that night. The only sound that you would hear while we were raking would be us beating the crap out of each other every hour or so. My sister is a year younger than me and she can still whip me easily....... good times

Normally this is the time of year when I try to refill my freezer with deer meat, but being lucky enough to replenish early , I was wanting to try and get some fillets for the freezer also. I noticed that the information here has slowed down a bit, maybe because of the time of year. I'm not accustomed to fishing this time of year, can you let me know some good patterns or lures to use for crappie and bass for fall and some areas to be looking. thanks wrench, i'll do that, there is not a lot of deep water under my dock this time of year so if/when they drop the lake lower i don't want my fiberglass tanks sitting on the bottom getting holes in them. the chains will help a lot.

I haven't been down to the lake since november deer season so I went down last friday to check on things because of the sever cold and I was surprised to find that my bass boat lift had lowered almost all the way down, luckily my cover was attached to the lift and kept the boat from banging into the sides of the dock well. I could have a slow leak or maybe the cold had something to do with but it got me to thinking that maybe I should get one of those IR cameras and point it at the boat dock so that I can keep an eye on the lift when I'm not there. Does anyone have any opinions if those type cameras are any good or not? I read that you can view them through your wifi and I think that it would be helpful or at least give me piece of mind to be able to check on things. I was also really surprised that there wasn't any ice anywhere in my cove, I figured there would at least be a few inches around the shoreline or dock, I don't think that it could have melted that quickly. From some earlier posts I was thinking that my cove should of had a thick layer of ice. I'm at the 5MM on the northshore. thanks, chris

shooter next year shrapnel? lol we're not in texas or minnesota and I don't see that many nice bucks , I'd like to hunt your woods! it must be full of 170's , either that or they're all died of old age because your waiting for "next year"

Thanks wrench and John I've been hunting this buck for 2 seasons, a young guy in Versailles will do a european mount for $50.00 which is all I could do this year... I couldn't do the 4 bills for a full head mount.

been in the woods for the last 3 days with my bow, every day i've been seeing more and more movement. bucks are chasing does everywhere, should be a great opening weekend. i hope i'm not crossing some type of fishing forum guideline but I scored on this buck last week. be safe in the woods!

thanks mike, i'm working on the rear arm, do i need to take both rear arms loose to remove the single arm or can i just remove the one arm by itself? i just watched the first 2 episodes of OZARK on netflix, I guess I should be happy that I can count to ten and spell my name after seeing that i'm just some dumb hillbilly........

thanks shrapnel, i will see if they come to the northshore area. what i would really like to do is replace it myself, has anyone ever replaced the 4 inch bushings on their own lift? it looks to be only 3 bolts to remove the A arm but i don't know if i can just remove the one A arm that i need to work on or if i have to unbolt both of the rear arms to be able to get one side off.
