  1. Thank you everyone for your input. I will check with b&b dock. I currently have a chain holding it together and that seems to be working ok for now, not sure how well it will hold up over the weekend. If it makes it to Monday I will feel a lot better about waiting it out for a repair person, other wise I might get the tools and come along and see what I can do if it looks worse. I'm trying to avoid getting a new used one, a halfway decent one is a few grand not including installation. It doesn't look like it should be that difficult to pull the arm off and bolt on the new bracket but I have never worked on one before. Thanks again for your help and input.
  2. thank you WW, i will look them up. the bracket is only 32 bucks that is why i would like to try and fix it myself.
  3. I'm hoping that someone here can help me. I have an older hydro hoist A arm boat lift and the metal bracket that holds the large 4 inch square bushing has broken. I called the guy that has worked on my lift for the last 10 years and he told me it would be a month before he could fix it. I called two other places and neither have gotten back to me. Does anyone know or have a good lift repair person that is dependable and reliable that I could call? I also found a place that makes a replacement bolt on bushing bracket that would work great and I'm thinking about trying to repair it myself, anyone ever try to remove the A arm or replace the bushings on one of these old lifts? I believe that I should be able to do it but thought I would check the forum first. Thanks everyone!
  4. Thanks everyone for your help and input, we can't wait to get down, it sounds like the water has warmed up a bit also
  5. Does anyone have any current information on bass and crappie in the North Shore and Gravois arm area's, I'm bringing my brother and his son down this week and would appreciate any help.
  6. does anyone have any suggestions for bass in the northshore/gravois area? i had a little luck this morning with a firetiger trap and a buzzbait from midway to the backs of the coves but then everything stopped this afternoon. thanks
  7. this might not help you, but there is a public ramp between the gravois and the dam on the northshore side. it is off of highway W but i am not sure which road, it could be W-22 or W-20, i always see it in the back of the cove when I am fishing but I don't know which road leads to it. it is at about the 2-3MM.
  8. there's some pretty asinine comments showing up on here
  9. also, wrench, are you allowed to tell us the name of your shop
  10. i'm just now catching up with this blog and if it's not too late ask, when watching the discharge from ameren's website what is considered little current or no current. how much discharge does there need to be for the fish to relate to it? today the discharge is over 40,000 cfs, while i figure that is a lot , is there a number where it does not make a difference to the fish
  11. what are you wanting to fish for? i haven't been down for a while but it seems like the bass are hitting on secondary points and back into the backs of coves. one person said they did well on topwater. i don't know what's going on with the crappie or cats. good luck!
  12. thanks mtaylor, it was great that you posted your report, it will be very helpful to me. it would be great to keep hearing from you.
  13. thank you for the info seth
  14. I had a guy one time stop by my dock and give me back my gas can that I had sitting on the dock. i didn't notice that it was missing. He had come by the day before fishing when i wasn't there, saw it was sitting there full of gas and decided that he was low so he poured it into his boat. why he brought it back I don't know, guilt maybe, but he did give me cash to pay for the gas. so i had to get back in the car and drive back to the gas station to fill it back up. there are some bizarre people out there
  15. I agree old plug about confronting amren and mdc, there has to be a different way that they can manage the water level than ruining the spawn every year. with the thousands of fisherman/women on this lake you would think that we could get somebody's ear from ameren, but just like the shoreline bs, they run the show
  16. those jackasses at ameren are definately not fisherman, what a boatload of numnuts
  17. good job dmeck, i'm sure you just made somebody's day
  18. nice gesture fishinwrench, that was really cool of you
  19. thank you rblackburn, it's always very helpful when we share with each other what techniques are working. thank you for the post and information. i'm trying to get out this week and i'm up at the gravois area but i'm not sure how all of this rain will affect everything, maybe it will help
  20. thanks mike, i will try that. the water is really clear in the northshore area, i fished the northshore area and didn't have much luck today. thank you for the feedback
  21. thanks seth, i'll give it a try, i think cooler weather is headed our way for a day or two.
  22. hi everyone, is anyone doing any good with crappie around the dam area or in the gravois arm? thanks
  23. i brought up the subject because i read about it being used on table rock and because i was at bass pro shops the other day and i asked the guy in the fishing department about the ned rig, i've never tried it and i wanted to give it a shot at LOZ, he spoke highly of it and said he used it at a number of different lakes but that he never used it at LOZ which i thought was odd. he went to help someone else and i never found out why.
  24. I've been reading where the ned rig works so well at table rock and i'm sure other places but i don't recall seeing anything about it being a go to bait on lake of the ozarks. does anyone fish the ned rig on LOZ? i would think it would work just as well here as table rock right? is it a secret on LOZ? is anybody talkin??? maybe i'm going into unchartered waters.........so to speak
  25. thank you for the timely information phil. it looks like next week with the weather warming up quite a bit might be a really good time to get out and start to use some of these techniques............anyone else want to throw out their bass or crappie tips for this time of year? they are always appreciated!
