If you fish long enough all of you will reach abkeenams place. Somewhere around your late 60's or early 70's. Your blood circulation is no longer what it used to be at that age and your hands and your other extremities ,no matter how well protected will get really cold.

I think it just depends on how far you have to cast and the test line your using. I pitch, and can flip a 6" unweighted plastic worm about 30 ft on a 7 ft mh baitcasting rod with 12 lb test on it. The reason I use that outfit is to fish in back of docks and over cables often pitching all the way under the ramp. I need the power to keep them out of all that stuff.

Ice eaters are fine but the damage comes when you have strong wind and thecice breaks up. Massive sheets will start blowing and can rip a dock off its moorings. May not be a problem where you are at. Here I have no ice. And with the forecast wind we the water cannot freeze very easy.

Drew they are easy to make. Trouble now days is the cost and quality of lumber or plywood to do it nicely. I make marble game boards for the family now and then. A 2' X 2' quality piece of plywood of Oak or maple in the 3/4" size i use ( board on both sides) can cost you $25 bucks easy.

Iambot a cheap skate, and i have the abilitty, just to lazy. Mine are just standing in a corner.

I have sen the drop go different ways it is best to just check the lake levels and predictions. But they can drop it pretty fast if they want to. I do not really know what governs that but I have a notion it has to do with the osage and Missouri river levels.

Winter bass down there sem to have a nice color. Up here they will be pretty drab. bit the same system and about the same depth is What will work. But with the weather report I just read for LOZ I will not becout there zero and just about. From the weekend thru I think tuesday it is going to be brutal.
-
They will Dewayne. But I just looked out the window and from the angle of my dock walkway it looks like it is still near normal. Sometimes it is a pretty sudden drop. I just wonder if they wil have to hold back because the Missouri is high. Daughter lives in Hermann and we go up. Hwy 94. The river looked full to me for this time if year.

Whats a marshall ? They charge you for that?
-
That is exactly what it is. That and Drugs including Alcohal.

Merc that all works but not in the winter and that sort of puzzels me. What is worse, is right now the lake is FULL of gizzard shad about the size of those thread fin down there. I will admit At my age I do not push it maybe like I should in the cold. I think i should add here i do not really target bass like you all do down there with spoons.i am either jigging for white bass, hybrids or Catfish. Big catfish are one of favorite things to catch on spoons. Those like larger gar are a poor mans salt water experience.

My son is in St Louis. A lot of things he shares with 3 or 4 friends that are contractors in you my say different trades. They tend to hire each other most of the time. These two fellas from Mexico were here for 5 months on a card then had to return home. I do not agree much with that program either. But the $10 he was paying them was $3 more than anyone else was. that was above the minium wage at that time. I have no idea what it was the last year. He bought them punch everyday as well.
-
Bill B my son was paying them $10 a hour that. Was a few years ago. That was about $3 a hour over anyone else. What i would propose would be a full. wage with the government paying a portion of the wages through the contractor, factor or what not. It would be cheaper than paying unemployment. And the person would have to work at that job are loose the unemployment also. The goverment pay out would be time limited as well. It is a pipe dream this congress today could never get it done in anyway.

In the entire time I have known him Al I can assure you they will not set long enought to take a set.
-
I would like to do more of that up here at LOZ but for some reason it is not a very productive thing around here even when you know exactly where the fish are. I have a place about 200 yards or so from my chair that always has a big gang of fish on bunched up on it in the winter.i have seen. A few others try to fish that bunch in the winter with no success. I did see one guy i believe was snagging catch a pretty nice catfish. I just wonder if having thread fin shad makes the difference down there.

It might work if they got to work to get paid. The government would only pay part of the salary the employer would. Pay the rest. I understand your point about. Lazy. My son is a contractor and I got a little upset a couple years ago because he had these because he hired a couple of Mexican fellas. That come in the country for a certain length of time then go back to Mexico. He has rehired them a couple times. He pays them about $10 a hour. He said you cannot find young american kids that will work steady.

I been looking at the Vendetta in the catalogs. Not sure yet. The one i tried in Wall Mart that was rated medium was a bit softer than I would like when it comes to dock control. Who knows what I will windup with in a spinning rod. I also like those that use metal rings on the reel seats on spinning rods. I will have to feel everything on the rack. I have 7 ft ugly stik bait caster that I have never seen another one like. It was called lite pro. The rod has10 guides with the tiptop, no clear tip. It is MH. I use 12 lb test on it and use it 100% for flipping and pitching docks. I bought it at BPS and when I did there were only two left on the rack this one and one other like it.

It would be possible to lay sewers to all the areas around these lakes. I would cost miillions but it would employ a lot of peole. I have long felt that the. Goverment needs a program like roosevelts WPA that built a lot of The TVA lakes. If people could be employed the amount of money they are being paid could be put into a share deal with a employer. Where is government would pay a portion of the salary they get. There you save unemployment money, help the small bussines and help the community upgrade. Modern day sewer systems can be installed pretty fast. Here in my area last year they installed 500 homes on sewers between mid april and 30 september. I can ashore you it was not small undertaking in these hard Ozarkite hills.

I know that it can be done cleanly. It depends on how they use their waste. I buy bulk compost from a turkey operation they are called Cen. Mo Poultry Producer. It is composed of several barns like those in the picture. The barns have concrete floor and are strickly enviormental controlled ares. What they do is spread the mash first and set up the feeding and watering systems. Then them bring in many thousands of turkey or whatever chicks. By force feeding etc they have them grown in 6 months and sent to market. Then in a big bobcat scoops up all the waste and mash up and loads it onto big dump trucks. It is then hauled over to the side bussiness they own called early bird compost. They have a barrel composter over there that is 10 ft in dia and about 60 ft long. Its driven buy a big chain and turns one revolulion every 18 minutes. It sets at a slight angle and as the the waste passes through all seeds are killed by the temperature generated by the composting waste. And it is hot. There are steam-stacks on it. When it comes out the other end it is stored in long deep bins. All this is done inside a building about the same size as a turkey barn on concrete floors and bins. They ship this stuff all over the area. The bagged stuff is carried by many places nation wide. Almost nothing is on the ground or in piles out in the open.

I am too old and never did like to tournament fish. I fish badly under pressure and a lot of the time with anyone in the boat. I am extremely aware of anything going on around me because I am stone deaf and the slightest movement distracts me.

I thought other docks were left out of it . Your last sentence it the kind of thing that set my hair on end.Table Rock belongs to us all. That is exactly why i do not like to see any one group through maybe some political maneuvering. Take any type of control of what you pay your taxes for. That not bad however around here there is a State Law that says there is a no wake zone within 100 ft of a dock. Thats fine but many people run right thorough the buoys. Also you get cruisers coming through cove that are 40 ft long and throw a wake 5 ft high wake that goes for long ways. This wrecks some docks and cost people a bundle every year. But you know what 100 ft is the law there is only one catch to it . In Missouri a boater is NOT responsible for his boats wake. Isn't that beautiful. So even if you could get someone for buoy violation he still would not be responsible for any damage he caused.

I agree with you about this champ. But still wonder whst would happen in a court. They say 50ft from the dock. That is a pretty good piece of water. I see they can use the same rule to establish entrance and exit lanes. As I read it that would mean if someone established a entrance and exit lane lest say 5o ft wide you would not be able to fish with 5o ft of either side. Meaning they would control 150 ft wide space wherever or how far the entry and exit lane goes I noted the state is charged with upholding the rule. What happens if your caught inside the 50 ft boundary. I am st glad we do not have that here. Even though I can see some reason for it. I think it is unnecessary.
