Well you might want to try it but it did not work around this lake for guys that did it. What you do is you go hide in the bushes with your trusty 22 and shoot holes in the boats as they pass.

I like to hop a heavy jig and trailer down step channel banks and over ledge in cold weather. That is the exact system Dion Hibdon used to win that BASS tournament they had here a couple years back. DANGER CLOSE----- That spoon will work OK but if you want to get the most out of a pure lead spoon follow along the lines of a slab spoon. It is one if the great ones. I usually cut one hook on the treble off and have used spoons a lot with just a single hook on them. They will hook just about as well and you can remove them from both the fish and the bottom easier.

I just cannot see it making enough of a difference to let it interfere with the rest of my fishing concentration. Myself about all In use is PBS mono sold on bulk spools. Except for the before mentioned crappie instance. Really what worries me more is a noisy reel or a guide that drags because it makes noise that is transmitted all the way down to your lure though whatever line you use. But I got my doubts that bothers them either.

Phil no last initial was a H. He grew up in Kimberling city area. Live here now. Yes I know it would be almost impossible to connect any damage to a particular boater. Around here this wake business sometimes gets nasty. People start taking pot shots at boats. It has happened several time in the 25 years i have been here.

Dylan i just spent some time trying to find anything saying that boaters are responsible gor there wakes in missouri with no luck. If there is a flyer as you say I want to see it. I would love to have about 100 of them.
-
I have a notion that the braid is effecting the action of your fluke. It floats and will cause the fluke to respond differently than mono. I can get a slower presentation with a 1/16 oz crappie jig using braid or fireline. At about 10 ft some bulky 1/16 oz jig eill almost suspend with 8 lb test fireline.
-
DYLAN if that is true it is new too me. I haves friend who is a retired Lt Col in the Missouri water patrol. He has said for a long time they are not responsible. I want to know more about that and i am going to check it out. Around here it could mean the differance between night and day. PHIL It might pay you to contact the water patrol yourself. Maybe get your place certified as a no wake zone. I think they would do that.
-
Thing is its in Missouri and you cannot do anything unless you get it posted as a no wake zone. And to make matters worse boaters are not responsible for their wake.
-
I use braid but prefer fireline on some ofy crappie fishingp applications related to sink rate. I only use either if them on one rod.

That is a nice white bass. It seems this white Bass dilemma is confined to the gravois. I am going to do a bit of evening crappie fishing.
-
Wrench I was catching crappie on the point down by me where the white bass should have been and they were at least twice the size of the whites. The crappie have been pretty active shallow in the evening around my place for well over a month. I been up in STL for a couple days. I have gave up on the whites. I do not like watching those fisherman either around here take every tiny white and I mean little 6" fish they can catch. I am thinking the whites need to be covered with a length limit.

You can say what you want with the exception of some cheap of on things like switches and stuff Targa is a tough big water boat. But the new one are not so good at all. Mine is about 11 yrs old i have had a couple of problems with wiring harness and the manual drain outplug. The plug was by far the most dangerous. Someone did not install it properly with the pop rivets and i have been running around here all these year with something held on by marine sealer. Way i found out I was installing a new bilge pump and wanted to git as much water out as possible to when i reached our to turn the screw in plug the entire unit fell out in my hand. They had install the pop rivets with using washers and they were just barely wedged into the holes. -
Yesterday afternoon was a pretty good day for bass as well as crappie. I got some on flukes and wacky worms. That is a way I lovee to fish right now. Bass are still on the small side but the average size has in proved. I managed one keeper and two just short.it is a lot of fun on a 6 ft crappie outfit. The gravois is hovering in the very low 60sand today was no help. I will start fishing a heavy jig down the north shore banks I guess next week if I go out.

Had A New Tackle Storage Compartment Installed...
Old plug replied to KCRIVERRAT's topic in General Chat
MAN that is no fun backs are especially bad i understand. Anytime they fool with the bones it is never fun. I had both knees replaced at the same time. I have had 4 majors and 4 minors at last count. Will have number 9 in about to weeks for prostrate cancer. Then there is a possibility of a number10 if it get to the point where I cannot live with my casting shoulder and arm M -
I understand that also i ran lines in sloughs off the Mississippi for many year but at my age the fun is gone. It is too much work.

You know Al it is funny about those areas that hold fish. You cannot bet on them. Especially lunker spots. I had a node far out in the middle of the lake that was a lunker hole. I caught some out there and some of them more than one time. Suddenly they were not there anymore. And its been several years since that spot has been hot. I found a spot last summer that I think holds a lunker . It is nothing secret but it keeps pulling me because I think there is a big bass there. All I got to do is get there at the right time with a monster plastic worm presented very softly and slowly. I might be wrong but thats ok too. The anticipation of fishing that worm and hoping this will be the time is a big part of the joy of fishing.

Thats true MOguy you caught me making up stories about those fish. Wrench I am having a ball with the little guys right now. If I go up into the coves with shallow banks preferably ending in a creek I can catch a small one off every dock ,if I am out there at the right time. Last week it was all Kentucky bass. Last two days it has been largemouth and the size has improved a little. This is a time of year I really like to be out there with the wacky worms on a 6 ft light action crappie rod and 6 or 8 lb test. I bet they would really jump a big streamer fly on a sinking line.
-
MITCH they came in at a real bad time. They also hit the beginning of the transition period. A lot of those people are pretty inexperiences and I guess just like to blow money gambling. It is my understanding that a awful lot if them did not catch anything. Truth nobody catches lunkers with consistency. Last year I happened to discover a pattern that really drew the heavy bass. I caught 13 last year over 21" with 3 of those over 23". that was the best year for me. This year that pattern has not produced one lunker and little of anything else. I have only caught 6 over 21" this year with one topping 23". I should I live here and am out many many days and never go more than a few miles from my dock. I know my area and the ins and outs if it. I think for most fishing that tournament they are flying blind. It is a lot of luck. Myself I do not like the odds. It is just a waist of most peoples money. I am betting also that in this particular tournament the nasty weather turned the bass off as far as hitting lures. I firmly believe when you have a nasty blow in like they did bass will go to live forage. i do not care how much something looks like a shad it does not smell like a live shad or whatever. That makes a critical difference. I am going to be doing some more of your potato chip thing Friday when i go up to visit the grand kids. I am thinking about trying some type of flavored chips on it.

I do not bait fish for csts. They are a side thing when i jig spoons for white bass. I have caught them to 47 lbs on 10 lb test line. I had one on onetime before i used steel leaders that i am certain was in the 50 to 60 lb range. After a long tussel he was near the boat and just under the surface.as i looked at him i could not see the spoon. I knew right then it was somewhere on the other side of those teeth and was pretty much all over.i had no more made that thought then he made a short turn and the line just broke with hardky any pressure on it. Now days i try too jig with a short leader on. Big cats are a thrill to catch on light bait casting setups. Only thing in loz tgat can give you as much thrill is a big gar. I fish for them in the dog days.
-
You better go to a contractor. He can get a much better idea of your needs because he will be right there on the site. I bet he can find the lines as well.
-
It is something different but i am a bit concerned about what it will do to the action. I impart all the action myself. Sometimes they are very slight. I think that might make it harder to maintain the desired control.

Crappie To Be Had, But Need To Work For Them.
Old plug replied to WHARFRAT's topic in Lake of the Ozarks
One of my newer beds.i think is full of crappie. I went over there last evening after the bed shaded and got five real nice ones on 5 cast. I did not keep any. I will wait a few days because i have to go to St Charles to visit grand kids Friday then onto Herman to put in crown moldings at my daughter home Saturday. I want the fish to be as fresh as possible. I had told them both about Mitch's potato chip mix on fish and want them to try it. Myself I am spoiled about fresh eating fish. I catch them in the morning I will have them for lunch. Catch them in the afternoon and they will be supper.
