Good for you Ness telling it like it really is.

I did not see that Wrench but I did see the high narrow thunderhead that flattened iut on the top. I figured right then somewhere somebody was about to have a problem. I have seen them before like that.

Nianguamark------There is nothing cheap about fishing out of a boat. Then there are repairs. I go a cracked keel on ny 18 ft Targa and its going to cast at least $ 1000 or more to replace it whenever they can get to it. Then there is outboard motor repairs. Outboard motor part prices are out of site as well. I see what wrench has to pay for parts now and then and it is astounding. You might be able to fish very successfully for crappie at night off a dock under light. If you got some friends or neighbors with deeper channel docks talk to them about it. My own dock I can turn on about 400 watts of light over a empty stall.

Grand should be in the top 15. It is just full of underwater structure like humps and ridges at mderate depths and I imagine grish piles as well as surface things like docks. LMB love that kind of stuff. It is hard to rank any lake. there are ao many variables to contend with.

I am going to fish for crappie Wednesday night. Last time we got about 25 real nice blacks.

Well this forum does promote your area to the world and it will bring all kinds of problems with it. You can look forward to this guy who is going to establish his world headquarters down there. Geeeee just think there might be a Bollywood on the horizon. MR Babler----- Seems to me were all headed back to the days of old up here on LOZ when people took pot shots at boats. I think you can remember that. If ( or should I say when) that returns with our current national attitude being what it is. It should be very interesting.

Silliest thing I ever done with a plastic worm is fish it under a cork. I know how good popping a corka are in the spring over a jig is for crappie and jigs so I go to thinking. What about a bobber and a worm. I tried it awhile and got tired of trying to cast it. I still think about it now and then. Maybe try it out over open water in the late evening when they rise. Then could just side arm it about anywhere in the area they are rising.
-
I have found they both have their place. Mostly it is just the amout action they generate and some designer whim. Plastic worms hace been mostly my thing for many years and they still are amazing things to me.

The next two weeks are going to be bad. with the 4th coming on a saturday a lot of summer people with take a weeks vacation and stretch it too 9 days. both sides of the 4 th. I see that Pirate ship all the time. I do bot mind he does not throw a big wake. I think for the most part I will stay on the dock.

They. were about the first to employ tha flat end to the tail along with that thin tappered ending. There was nothing unique about it. What it did was in the hands of the fisherman. The photo is of one of the original Flip Tail series of worms. It is real close to 50 yrs old. They will catch fish just as well now as then. This was one of the 9" models that was about 81/2" long. At 5.99 for a bag of 25 they were a good buy.

Well maybe you might undrstand now why people up here at LOZ are mostly tight lipped about giving specific information. I know this stuff of talkkng it up about the what, when and where is good for your ego but its no good for your fishing. When you stop to think about how many people read this thing what do you expect.

JERRY ----- I used that pencil worm down at Clearwater. I think Red Sandguff was the guy down there loved them.
-
anyone remember Flip Tail worms. i got a friend that was cleaning some stuff out of his basement and cme. accross 2 or 3 bags of thrm neve oprned. at that time they cost. 5.99 for a bag of. 25. I got a few some of them in the jelly wine color. They are as plyable as they were close to 50 yrs ago. Make tou wonder how. long thos plastic stuff last on the bottom.

Oh I have seen people who could not handle money. One guy in the mirror everytime I shave. Had it not been for the lady of the house I would have us in cobstant debt from fishing.

Mitch-----If you ever get The Gravois in Mill creek On the left bank going in The first 6 houses belong to muti millionaire. Except the pretty one. One of the richest lives in the tiny A Frame. Over all we got 9 in here worth over a million. They are really pretty good people. I would be the last to condemn someone for the money they have. But I might for the way they made it. My own daughter is a millionaire she retired at 47. Lives in Herman.

Yeah I understand your situation Wrench. I would have also had it bot been for the good woman I got here. But we hever got rich either. There are many situations where people cannot save money and its not their fault. We. live in a world that is a mess today. Really glad i will not be around when all this comes to a head.

Thumbs----- I bought a bag of themissle worms Thursday. Have not made but a few cast with one. To be truthful they do not seem very sturdy to me. I will say this though. I am going to cut that tail off about 1" above the split tail and use it as a trailer on a jig.

Most people with money manage there money. Thatswhythey have it

The thing about worms to me as much as the color is the right weight and line I am using. Most of the time I do not like the worm to crash down on top of brush or off ledges. A 10" worm and a 3/16 or 1/4 oz weight on 12 lb test mono around here is about as heavy as I go.
-
Yeah thats about as far as I go also. I have in the past been in the timber up on that mud flat. It is no place for my Deep v Targa. That sort of a flat on the upside of Indoan Creek at the mouth has been good to me at times in the past. I tend to have trouble pitching for very long anymore. I never did have the total patients and concentrarion to work a area the way wrench does. Not to mention I am clumsey and create noise in the boat without even knowing it.
-
I know where that is at I remember fishing there with you one time. A good place to loose a lower unit or prop if your not careful getting to it.
-
you might try to fish for those big ones they can give you a real thrill. . We have our share up here in LOZ. I carry a rod in the boat this time of year rigged with a rope lure. I have caught them to 4 ft here in LOZ. Last evening I seen some roll that were every bit of that. I am planning on going back there this evening to fish for them. They can be a terror after they are boated. I use a heavy welders glove to handle them.
-
That Net Bait is a real good worm. I use the Big Bite Type that has the wider tail that seems to be poplir with the bass around here. At 10" weighs more than any worm I have ever used.
-
I bet in reality Oneshot your a millionaire. I got a neighbor lives in a little A Frame house. His family put their life savings about $4000 I think it was into a company called IBM back in the 30s. Poor old fella he is. Yes indeed.

Wrench ------You been having some fun this year. Been anything but good for me. I think I spend more time wondering how much water is in the boat than anything else besides running the bilge pump. Looking forward to geting a new keel in the fall when they can get to it.
