Norm ----A lot of people post on here in the spring asking what the water temperature of a lake is. Water temperatures are not that simple to state on a large body of water. It can be one thing one place and something else within a few yards. This is very common occurance on LOZ. Water temperature in the 40s can climb to near 60 over large boulders protected from wind. That is what happens every year here on LOZ. That is one of the reasons for the popularity of the North Shore area in early spring. And in the heat of summer the wate temperature under docks is a lot cooler. I would not let the stated temperature for a lake to stop me from fishing.

The reason it interest me Wrench is the one over in the other cove has that high seat. Sitting in one of those little john boats are anything else with a low seat like a lot of bass boats is beyond me now. I would play hell getting back up as well.

That post concerning a trip to St louis to fish for monster blues is a good idse if you want pure thrill. Good friend and his son went out with a catfish guide last year somewhere below chain of rocks within site of downtown St Louis. They caught 6 in one day smallest was around 30 lbs and my friend caught the largest it was 68lbs. He told me that was the first time in his life he was ever happy to see them stop biting.

I will try to do that. I think there is one in the next cove. I have seen him out fishing on it several times. It look a old 4 person paddle boat. They can carry a good bit of weight on that frame. That thing really scoots when he crosses the cove is whaf makes me think it is 24 volt.

Wrench------ I have always wanted to convert a paddle pontoon for fishing with a 24 volt system 70 lb thrust troller. But on LOZ it would be dangerous. But on some of these lakes it would be nice for fishing within 2- 4 miles of your put in spot. Lot more room and comfort than a Kayak.

I thought it was very funny. If I was that large however I would feel self consious making a point of displaying it. The thing with the deer antlers while silly reminds me of a old crppoe fishing trick. Sometimes when you are setting close to a bed and they wont bite you can swish your hand or rod tip around in the water briskly for a bit and the crappie will leave the brush and you can catch them. Works real well when fishing off docks with summerged beds.

It is a puzzel around my dock here about the crappie and the low water temperature. I have caught trappie with slush ice in the dock. You would think that they would be holding around the brush on sunny sides of the dock. But in truth they they will get under the middle walkway of my 30x30 ft double stall dock where the sun never shine. If I can make them bite at all that is where they will be.

Frozen. The fish cannot swim thru it.

Mixermark------- i can see your point about shipping but on the pther hand I was flabbergaster to learn the the bowling pin makers like bruswixk or shipping rock maple from Canada to China to make pins and then shiping it back here.

DRRS. Nope a tracker might never become a Lund. But if they would have bought Lund you can be about sure a Lund would have become a tracker. . Speaking of tracker my 11 yr old tracker Targa stands up to everything LOZ can hand out. I use it I would guess about 250 days a year. It is also extremely safe.

There will be changes for sure. Most will be negative as far as the employees go and quality of the project. Would not surprise me if they just had most of the boats made in China.

I am looking at monday also for a little back fishing for crappie. I cannot take anything much under 50 because I am on blood thinners but back in the day nithing stopped me. Coldest I can remember fishing was when it was 15 degrees on lake coffeen in IL. its a power plant lake. We caught over 100 crappie that day.

I just started tying stuff after hears away from it. all I am doing bow is wort of monkeying around. all. the jigs Inam tying are betwen 1/8 and 3/8 in brown or gray buck tail for bass. I have either forgot or never was aware of some of the product out there for building jigs. Wrench has shown me a lot or them like the rabbit fur strips.

According to the weather forcast Friday looks the best vut it is going to be 100% wet. If its hot tooo bad I am goimg up to the bridge on Friday Wrench and see what these jigs I been making look like in practice.

I second that Wrenxh. I still want to make that trip down to the ricer with you. My main trouble in the cold is the darn blood thinners I nave to take everyday.

REAL BAD IDEA FULLMOON. Some of these counties in Mo are way out of line on personal property taxes. The county I live in wants the farmer to pay personal property taxes on the live stock he has. They collect enough money to throw away.

Warfrat------Lot of people say minnows are the thing to use in the cold water. I have not used a monnow in many years. I used to just set over the deep beds and drop a jig down into it and make a ultra slow stop and go retrieve. I like to tip my jig with crappie candy. That stuff will catch you alot of tight lipped crappie. I do not git out into that cold weather anymore. All I do is set at the window with my coffee and wonder how in the hell I used to do it.

Hust Google Misspuri boats Registration laws. It is all there is plain simple language. Only change I see in the law is the 30 day limit has become 60. Have never ever seen it enforced on LOZ. Just read it for yourself. I do not know where some of this information comes from.

A Kansas resident can keep can bring a boat into Missouri. The law used to be a boat did not need to be registered here UNLESS it is kept in the waters of the state for more than 30 days. The law may have changed and it is no longer required. But I have my doubts that if that is still the law that it is not enforced. We have boats permanently dock all over LOZ that carry Kansas and Illinois registrations numbers. You need to call a missouri state license office to find out. That is where you get your registration numbers.

THUMBS----- It has a rated sink of 2 ft every 3 seconds but that will vary by water temprerature and line test and type. practice with it a lot to gwt the most out of it, Watch how it reacts to twiches jerks and different pulls. Sometimes you can make it look like a dieing fish trying to swim then stop it and it will sort of hang there in a arch like you see Shad do when they are dieing.

5bites I was in feguson a few weeks ago. My wife grew up in that area 50 yrs ago. I would venture to say by far the greatest percentage of people there have not got involved in any of this. A lot of those people are coming from in St Louis city and a nearby town called Kinlock. One of my sons customers is a black family over there and the tather is a senior VP at Mac Donald/ Douglas. Lot of good people over there But the St Louis Post Dispatch keeps stoking the problem. They have been running a daily column about Ferguson. some of it bent toward sensatioalism.

I do not think some of you that post on here about carring a concealed weapon are not mature enough and have not thought this out very well. Someone awhile back talked about how they were fishing carring a side arm. It sounded more like just trying to intimadate someone. If you think your going to scare a real bad boy doing that your wrong. To stat with you come in there with a gun on your side you have given him the advantage. Chances or he will get you first. Of course you might think you going to whip out your weapon faster thanhe is. you want to take that gamble.
