  1. This was a cool event. Though the fishing was tough for everyone I really had a good time. First place won a kayak
  2. Beautiful float although fishing was pretty slow. We were not blessed with good weather. We had thunderstorms the whole time but since this was the only weekend we could squeeze it in we just went with it. I will be doing it again in better conditions.
  3. Well it looks like my annual fall trip with my brother is gonna land us on Bryant creek this year. I'm pretty excited as always since we only do 2 trips a year. We do lots of day trips but only 2 overnighters. We will be heading out the 2nd week of October for 3 days and 2 nights. We will be floating from Hodgson mill to Tecumseh access. What should we expect as far as scenery, fishing, gravel bar camping....What's this place like?

    Sunday Football

I don't know, 5 carries for Charles in the first half for 21 yards. That's over 4 yards per carry! But yet we just keep throwing the ball. We got one of tge best backs in the league and he got less than 10 touches. Classic Andy Reid. He did tge same thing to leshon mcoy in Philly. Then when Reid left mcoy was number 1 rusher in the league.(I think, if not he was close) We got to run the ball, And play that short pass gm.
  5. I have done this with livers and it works pretty good. Never tried it with stink bait

    5 more minutes! Let's roll!!
  7. My girlfriends grandfather fishes the Missouri for catfish A LOT. He mixes his stink bait with dog hair and says it works great. He says the bait still comes off but he still catches them with the hair. Sounds funny to me but he swears by it
  8. It's not camping without chili dogs and fire!
  9. I do most of my floats alone. Like the above said. Just be extra careful taking fish off the hook. I recently buried a zara spook between my pinky and ring finger. Had to paddle the last 2 miles with a spook in my hand then had push it through and cut it off .Before that i really didnt understand how people managed to bury hooks in themselves. It happens fast. I recommend taking a pair of pliers and some side cutters when floating alone. Personally I think it's more dangerous just driving down the highway.
  10. I like kelroys advice with the flukes. Although I prefer a pearl super fluke over a fluke jr. Just throw that thing behind every rock and log you walk by. The bites they entice can be really neat. You just see that flash or that wake right when it hits the water and it's on! Really fun bait to fish with. I start most all of my trips with a fluke on one rod and a walk the dog topwater on the other. There are many days I never switch to anything else. If you can learn to walk the dog with a super spook Jr I highly suggest it. The action can be fast and nothing gets you more excited than a good smallie exploding on the top of the water! Don't give up. Just keep fishing man, it's all you can do.
  11. My brother has a big tuna he may be interested in selling. I sent you a pm with his contact info
  12. I agree, definitely a beautiful river. I want to go back in the fall
  13. Did my first trip on the Jacks fork Friday. Went from eminence to two rivers. I have heard A lot of good things about this river so I went in with high expectations. Big mistake. I don't know what I did wrong but I had probably the worst day fishing I have had this year. Only caught 7-8 fish in the 8 mile stretch. Largest being maybe 11". It was slow to way the least. Talked to a couple others fishing who seemed to be having the same luck. Just one of those days I guess. I will be back to try again

    Lure Help

I'm with AL on this one. I can't get enough of wtd lures. I have one on at all times. DO NOT limit it's use to just mornings and evenings though,They will hit those no matter what time of the day or how hot it gets. I fished the Courtois last week when the temp was in the upper 90's and just slayed em with a spook. My brother likes to throw the big spook and he does good on it. It amazes me sometimes how small of a fish you can catch on such a monster lure. I still prefer the super spook jr though. I don't like the puppies at all. I like KVD sex dawgs too they Got a really nice rattle. My only one over 20" came on a sexy dawg. Also, in my opinion the bigger that wtd Lure the easier it is to walk
  15. Not good!! I could be wrong as I have never done it but I'm pretty sure this is illegal. I think you can only gig and spearfish for non game fish such as drum, suckers, flying carp ect.. I would stay away from this till you get the facts. I'm sure others will chime in soon
  16. Got the day off Tomorrow and thought I would try out some new water. Never fished the niangua before so I called down and scheduled a shuttle. Sounds like I will be going from Bennet springs to barclay.(That seemed to be the shortest drive. Still 2hrs) My question is is this decent smallie water or are trout more the target fish for this area. Never done much trout fishing so was hoping to get into the smallies. It really doesn't matter I guess, I will be going either way. Was just hoping I picked a decent stretch for some fishing.
  17. I did a three day trip on the big piney last year. The man at boiling springs kept our truck there at boiling springs then brought it to slabtown in the morning of the day we were getting off. We were warned not yo leave a vehicle at slabtown
  18. Nice! That's a fatty!!
  19. My buddy caught one LM. I guess it probably about 2 lbs.
  20. 15 miles. Got it done. Did some dragging but that was expected. Fishing was so so. The ones we caught were good size but didn't catch a lot
  21. Gotta a buddy that is wanting me to go fishing with him tomorrow on the gasconade. He has a prop which we do not plan on running at all. Just wondering if we would be able to float and troll from paydown to Rollins ferry without getting stuck. Thought this might be something you could chime in on Seth. I have only floated this stretch once in a kayak and I really don't remember the river much except it was a little high. My buddy is not worried at all but I'm a little skeptical. I just really don't want to be stranded
  22. Nice. I bet that was a blast!
  23. Well thanks for the input everyone. The information has been passed on. On a side note, caught 18 3/4" smallie today. My second best. Paid for it dearly though wading through itchweed in shorts.
  24. Nothing to do with fishing but same concept here. Trying to get fuel this morning on the way to work. One diesel pump with 2 spouts and this guy parks directly in front of the pump so I get behind him and start a line. When he's done pumping instead of moving out of the way he continues to go inside to pay, get coffee and his morning goodies then comes out and starts packing his cooler as the line behind me keeps growing. I guess some people are just born stupid.
