  1. That does sound good. I'm not a corn meal fan anyway, so I might give it a try.
  2. Thanks for the advice!
  3. Don, I'm bringing the rugrats down in a couple weeks. Any suggestions for how to fish w/ a 3 and almost 7-yr-old?
  4. I wish I would have been so lucky in college! You may have just adopted some kids.
  5. Good report Tightline. We you keying on anything (gravel bars, structure) or just letting the boat drifting where it wanted to?
  6. Leave it to me to make things more complicated than they need to be!
  7. I think people beat the shore because they see it on fishing shows. Those shallow, southern lakes/private ponds that aren't more than 20 ft deep. I think crappie misread Bill's post. He didn't call they guy numbnuts to this face. He didn't do anything but catch a fish out from under his boat. And numbnuts isn't vulgar, derogatory, but not vulgar. Here's the definition: Main Entry: numbnuts Part of Speech: noun Definition: an idiot Etymology: 1970 Usage: derogatory slang
  8. Now that's cool. good report, Zander.
  9. Chad, I think it's because the gates are closed now, so the water has slowed down. It's just generators right now. I attached a diagram of the rig Phil sent me. The rig doesn't slide. It's stationary and I think the momentum of the drift will keep it from floating too high. I think the above technique is basically the same set up as it you were fishing for bluebill w/ a bobber. The float is set about 8ft above your bait w/ a small shot to get it down. I could be wrong or misunderstanding your questions. If so, Phil will clear it up.
  10. No idea on Burrell. It's owned by Cox Hosp. now and I would guess they don't allow it. You could try after hours, but Cox security may run you off.
  11. How big was your San Juan? Do you need a bigger float in the moving water?
  12. And if you see it floating, it's probably not good....
  13. Don, that's what I like about wasabi. I loved spicey, but don't like it to linger. Good stuff, for me anyway.
  14. I'm lucky. My car has a short and the only channel it remember is ESPN 1400. I miss Tony Kornheiser, though. Eric, I like your show. I haven't caught it in a while. I guess I'm not in the car at that time any more. But I'll check out the podcast.
  15. I think the same thing when I read their reviews. I bet none of them are real. You might search the board. I remember a discussion a few years ago. Seems like they were not that breathable. I bought a pair from LL Bean for $60 around Christmas that got good reviews in a magazine. Honestly, I haven't even tried them on yet, but like I said, they got a good review in Fly Fisherman I think. Plus, they have a lifetime warranty, something BP probably doesn't have.
  16. Pretty cool. It's great that you got a pic, too. My luck would be no camera within 20 miles.
  17. Terry, post some more pix once you get it loaded. I'd like to see what you had planned for those different holes & such.
  18. Glad everything worked out for you. I can't imagine how scary that night was for you.
  19. Terry, you're not defending The Man, are you. Because, if you are, there might be trouble..... I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'.....
  20. I hate The Man.
  21. Thanks Dan. That's pretty cool.
  22. Tanger is 9 I think.
  23. I've only floated from Steel Creek to Pruitt, but those upper sections are awesome and weren't too challenging. Though the water wasn't like it has been this spring. Steel Creek to Kyles Landing is a great float. About 8 miles I think. I think about the same from Kyles Landing to Erbie. I think after Erbie, the water slows up, which means more paddling. The upper floats are much work in the paddling regard. Just the steering. Others with more experience can confirm or deny.
  24. Wow. That Beaver Creek shot is shocking. The marina looks like it floated away.
  25. I've heard good things about the park in Ozark, but I've never fished there. The places I've wade are too out of the way to hit in an afternoon. The last time I waded, the nearest land owner tried to run us off anyway.
