  1. I checked Larry's book out of the library once. It is interesting. There's web site called http://www.gatorboats.com. Not as an authentic as Dablemont's, but pretty cool nonetheless.
  2. Is there a particular species you're thinking of, Terry? Aside from invasive species (like the asian carp and to a seemingly less harmful way the common carp), I can't think of anything that isn't native. There was some walleye debate earlier this spring, but I think it's been fairly well established that a sub species of walleye was native and MDC/AGFC maybe stocked a different strain. I think there is also some discussion about Kentuckies over taking smallies in some streams. Unless they are stocked, it seems this is a natural evolution that maybe we could change through management.
  3. tube in green or brown. In fact, that's about all I catch bass on whether lake, river or stream. My friends say that's because it's all I use.
  4. I want that bumper sticker!
  5. strangercreek, while fuel taxes help suck fuel like a V-8, they're a flat fee, not a percentage. So the govt. gets the same amount whether gas is $1 or $3 a gallon. THey should want gas prices to drop so people will increase their recreational driving, which leads to recreational spending. Sales tax is a percentage, so the more goods and food people buy, the more tax revenue is generated. Cities like Springfield w/ no city income tax get the vast majority of their revenue from sales tax. The sales tax is flat, no raises for employees, no additional services, no new hires, etc. They want people to have extra money to spend on other stuff. Same with towns like Branson. I think the sales tax is restaurants is around 10% (or it used to be).
  6. Terry, unless you get caught. You'll pay for that longer than the dress....
  7. I think having good friends is a key. I took my 5-year-old to the father/daughter dance in Republic. The dress shopping was horrifying and we old spent $25 at Target. It was like seeing a glimpse of the future.
  8. naru70: I can't tell, are those boats floating? It looks liker they are in the mud. That would irritating.
  9. I've been thinking 25, but I guess that's not realistic. 21 is a good alternative.
  10. Free t-shirts and hotdogs are ok, but I'm w/ Rusty and Flysmallie. I think the day after is the way to go. I have 2 girls, 2 and almost 6. I bought my oldest a spincast combo at BP and she's caught a few on powerbait. I'd really like to do the Eagle claw set up for her, too. Rusty--I'm impressed you didn't kill someone. I remember when my oldest was about 2 a little boy about 18 months flirting w/ her in a restaurant. His parents thought it was cute. I about came unglued. The next 15 years is going to be really hard on me.... Ronnie, any advice on having a teenage girl?
  11. DEATH TO PURPLE DINOSAURS! ESPECIALLY THOSE THAT SING!!!
  12. works for me. nice fish, too.
  13. Did you guys use 1400s or 1500s? I don't know if you can see my avatar well enough, but I have a 1595rc on my rod. Of course, I've never caught a monster, but I wouldn't even switch. I love the click, the look and the feel. I got it at BP years ago. I just hate buying stuff online. I'd like to touch it first.
  14. Rusty, what kind of reel did you put on in it? I thought about getting myself on for father's day for the kids/wife to use, if I could ever get them to go.
  15. Rusty, where's "here?" Personally, I like that idea. I've enjoyed plenty of cold ones in my day, but I would not take my family on a river for fear of what they'd see or hear. To me, that kind of behavior belongs at home or at a bar, not in public. DRUNKFISHIN: It has nothing to do w/ communism. Besides, a police state or dictatorship is not communism, either. If you had kids, would you want exposed to random profanity, nudity, violence and drug use? Honestly, answer that question. Would you let your kids or nieces and nephews over to my house knowing I'm drunk off my a$$ exposing myself, yelling f-this and f-that?
  16. I do mean the flies. Soft hackles are something I've been struggling w/ (mainly because I can't get the right materials, I think. I has nothing to do w/ my skills ;-) ).
  17. Daughter's boyfriend "fishing"? You aren't going to drown him, are you? ;-)
  18. Come on, Greg. We need some pics!! Shooting seems like a pain in the butt (for me and the bird). But I'm not a hunter. What do you once you shoot them?
  19. Greg, whatever happened w/ your BP waders? Did you take them back?
  20. Ducky, how many trips did you get before it sprung a leak? I'm in the market, but can't decide what to do. I know breathable is the trend, but BP has neoprenes for 50. Decisions decisions.....
  21. Cool. i guess it comes out like dough bait? How bad is it going to stink up the kitchen? I don't want to have to sleep in the garage....
  22. Thompsons Guide service had a good report. He said the catfish were really biting in any cove w/ water flowing. I'm not familiar w/ Mutton Creek CA, but it sounds like it would have water flowing....
  23. Ok, Terry, I bit my tongue before, but since I'm in the joking mood..... That's what your ex-wife said! Doh!! (Sorry... :-( I'm almost ashamed of myself.)
  24. Terry, I like to use gloves to gently disturb the substrate of the stream. You get all the advantages of shuffling, but it's not nearly as damaging to the stream bed. I like something in an earth-tone so as not to spook the fish....
  25. Just imagine if they were shufflers of mid-Eastern descent!! Oh, boy!! We need snipers dressed like buzzards on the dam!!
