  1. A lure like that should come w/ a swivel built it.
  2. Nice report. Pretty fish and a good pic.
  3. I'm using IPB 2.2.0 Default or "old blue" as I call it. I did like the gray you had as default, but from my window-less office, it was a little too drab. I don't care or animated gifs and different fonts. JD, mine did that on occasion w/ the last version. I could never change it back, so I deleted the cookies for just Ozarkanglers and it would reset.
  4. You guys have never used hot dogs as bait? Man, growing up, that's all I used in creeks to catch bullheads and chubs. We also used bologna, but hot dog was better because there was more skin. Stayed on the hook better. A few summers ago we rented a house in Shell Knob and I took my daughter down to the dock. Hot dogs outfished night crawlers 2-1 and caught bigger fish (bluegills). Rodeos are good. They're cheap and really greasy. You can see the flavor leaking out in the water. You used to be able to buy hot dog catfish bait. I think they were died red. You can find them w/ the stink bait, etc.
  5. I think a lot of people use football heads on hula grubs or chompers. I read something once about using heavy (1/2 to 1 oz) heads and just dragging them back. Supposedly the football shape makes it kind of walk back and forth.
  6. Good to hear your thoughts, as usual. Thanks
  7. I say go for the inexpensive Bass Pro combo. You don't have to buy spools of tippet @ $10 each. Use the 4# mono from your spinning reel. You're already a fisherman, so it's not like you don't have a warm jacket. If you bought a $50 combo, $6 fly box and $20-30 in flies, you'd have more than enough to keep you busy while you're drifting worm/minnow/pb w/ your family for under $100. Plus, if you got frustrate w/ the fly gear, you could also drift w/ it on your spinning gear. Not many of use have spent $100 on our spinning rods and still catch fish. You'll notice a difference when you upgrade, but don't let it stand it your way.
  8. Ham, which Wally World were you at, if I may ask...?
  9. You should pimp your blog, or at least add it to your signature. Pretty cool. I liked the slide show w/ your son.
  10. Just missed us in Republic. The kids are out of school today and tomorrow while they clean up an Elem. school and figure out where to send those kids. No power from 2 am until about 10.
  11. Thanks Rusty. That's a shame.
  12. What benefit do you guys think it will have outside the trophy area?
  13. Maybe it has to do w/ a combo of water temp and lower light. Maybe September and april have similar levels of light and water temps. I'm just making stuff up, but it seems almost logical. (Keep in mind I have taken a biology class since I was a freshman in high school.)
  14. Wow. Can't be more specific than that. Hope someone uses Trav's report for a tasty dinner. I enjoy your reports, Trav. Thanks
  15. Thanks Trav. I used to fish down there a lot and apparently I missed out on the fish.
  16. jjtb has a good point. Leonard, shouldn't you be getting some doubles w/ those dropper rigs? I think your skills are slipping......
  17. I'd have to agree. I think he really sucks.
  18. That is a nice fish.
  19. Fog in Republic (outside of Spfd.) We were out for a week last year. Spent a few days is Branson. This year I got a little propane heater and my camping gear organized. We're going to ride out anything that happens.
  20. I read the LLB "satisfaction guaranteed" and wondered. Anybody using Bean waders? I had a friend in college with some Vasque hiking boots with a lifetime warranty. He sent them in and the CS rep on the phone told him "sounds like the lifetime on your boots is up." Funny, but not if their your boots. He did manage to get the boots replaced.
  21. Two choices, each $59.95. On breathable, one neoprene. I know there are better brands and models, but I don't fish often enough, so spending a bunch on waders isn't justifiable for me. Wader 1: LLBean Flyweight II Stocking-Foot Waders Wader 2: RedHead® Bone-Dry® Neoprene Stocking-Foot Wader Thoughts?
  22. Terry is right, Dave. You should be able to find everything you need in Branson. St. John's has specialists in Branson every week as well as the PCPs that are down there full time. I, too, work for St. John's, so I'm a tad partial. There is a large clinic building on 248 not far from 76 where many of the doctors have offices. They also have cardiac rehab (don't know where you are w/ your cardiac issues) in that building. Good luck!
  23. Just bought one (2 hours ago). So far, so good. I got a 32" at KMart for $420. The things i read last week seemed good.
  24. nice fish Leonard. Awesome fish for Mitchell. Bigger than any brown I've caught!
  25. slim jims, trout pellets. Probably similar ingredients.
