  1. I have a mixture as well As rods and reels. Mostly lews bait caster and Stradic shimano spin cast. Rods. Love my carbonlite from bass pro. Fished with a friend that has temple fork rod. For 100$ as well. It was really nice. Have a new rod from Lews via customer service on an older rod. They treated me very well. Love my falcons low riders. Have several G loomis. Couple of them are very nice. Couple just average also so have two bass pro qualifier bait cast reels the white light weight one is not as good as the cheaper model just picked up the formula baitcast reel from bass pro for 50$ it seems pretty good don't know about Durability
  2. Didn't get in water until 1:00 left at 3:45 Traffic was crazy. Moved to back of cove worked out way out. Caught 11. Ned rig and biffle bug. Couldn't get the jig going. This is one is 17 1/2 inch. On the Ned PBJ cant get it to upload
  3. I am surprised so many do not use a leader with braid. Makes me reconsider what I am doing. I use a leader for my ned rig and really like the visibility of the braid and the sink rate of the flourocarbon leader. But it may not be any better...certainly adds a step. I also like that It breaks off at the bait when I get hung up bad... With the uni knot I have not had issues with the leader coming off. I have had issues with braid on my baitcasting reels.... when I do get a backlash it is miserable.. but like it on the spinning rods.
  4. There are many better people to get advice from than me..... but this is what i would do. Think points and fish mostly 10-25 foot deep. Chunk rock banks. Pb&j ned rig and jig with cinnamon and purple twin tail. Keep topwater ready for early and late in the day. Might swim a grub or swimbait on deeper deeper areas off steep points Dont have to flip to the bushes but if you are good at it do it. Try any island and main lake or secondary points. Good luck.
  5. Any help would be appreciated.
  6. This pattern worked for me... thanks for the info
  7. Decided to go with the PB&J jig and cinnamon with purple twin tail trailer. First cast on a chunk rock bank.. bite.. second cast caught a LM 13 inches. Caught 12 on the jig and lost 4 more to poor hook set. last hour caught 6 on big rainbow colored spook. Wind was really strong to start. Should have moved more often I think...and hit a few more points. But was a fun day. Jig bite was almost always 10 to 20 foot deep... off from the brush on original shore line. Caught one near a tree out on the edge of the brush. Thanks Bill for the tip... I took a friend that doesn't get to fish very often and he had a great time.
  8. You are correct I ran down stream, but incorrectly say up when I think of running north. Thanks I will search for fin tips.
  9. Water is getting better but slowly. I actually launched from Eagle rock and ran up but did not go back into the ramp at big M A week ago the dock was still way out. At both Eagle rock and big M. Water is half way up the bathroom
  10. Caught 54 Friday on red fin and big spook mostly. Also some on underspin and a grass jig. Fin was hard for me to keep making the wake... so had to hold rod high and shake. 8 keepers, 4 whites, 3 smallies and the rest K's mostly.Almost all were 13-15 inches... and fat. Fished from 2 until dark. Long casts worked best... and had one double on the spook.
  11. Eagle rock is launchable from the parking lot. Parking is limited.
  12. I had a fish up to the boat the couple of weeks ago that my partner thought was a trout....we were in the Big M area and I knew it might be possible....but had my doubts... interesting that so many others have caught them
  13. Put in at 3:30 out at 8:30 Caught 4 right off the bat, point, with the white/silver hula stick... went dead couldn't get anything going. About 7:30 started seeing shad and caught 5 more. Spoon, fluke, and spook. Had one blow up on the whopper and my reel fell off. Saw a young man pounding them... across the lake.. he came over and said the underspin had been hot. Said he caught 50 or so... took pics for him of 16 pounds on five fish.. he then released. Really noticed the current after the wind died down. They must be letting the water go. Good luck and be safe.. current is pushing some big logs around.
  14. Thanks for update. How was water color? From the pic it looks better than I expected?
  15. Thanks for update.... those are nice fish
  16. I am such a mess. I have about 18 Rods in the boat and more tackle than is reasonable. And i end up fishing the Ned 80% of the time. Topwater. Shakey head and a a biffle bug are my second level confidence baits right now. I still throw the swim bait some and regular jig as well as the senko. But i can fish the Ned and expect a bite every time lol
  17. Went to Lake of the Ozark's. Fished hard from 7:00 to 3:30. Caught three tiny fish. Water was muddy. 33 miles upstream from dam. Went to the friends lake house. Down by the dam. After dinner had to try the action off the dock ( water was stained but not bad). Caught 7 on 12 casts theee keepers. The friends all kid me about the Ned being a small fish bait Then caught this 5 lb 1 oz
  18. Bill thanks for the loading info. I have been loading boats for 30 years and learned several things in that post. Thanks again.
  19. We caught 37. 7 were keepers. No smallies nothing over 16 inches . Shakes head and Ned did most of the work. But got several on big spook over 60 foot of water. These fish were full of eggs. Had a great time. Most fish 15 feet off the bank on ledges and steeper banks. Wish I had tried the red fin. Be be safe this weekend.
  20. I have tried them... I guess I will buy anything.... but the plain ned works better in my hands....but it doesn't seem to stop me wanting to try something else...I am a tackle companies dream
  21. Elk river is a bit of a drive ... but is great fishing... lot of partying on weekends.. Look up Pineville, MO
  22. One of my friends was second to the scene, he was sitting on a dock and heard the boat crash... they thought the one guy might die... he said it was really scary. Luckily the paramedics were there in minutes.
