  1. your welcome. pretty fun way to fish isn't it? i love watching them swarm it.
  2. i threw a white jig one pass and only caught 2 fish. threw the magnet the next pass and caught 15. you have to go slow because it don't weigh much. just watch the magnet and you'll see the fish or you'll see the magent disappear. I'm not affiliated with them at all by the way, i'm just a guy that lives in kansas and gets one week a year down there basically. I've been down there for 28 years so i know the lake pretty well but i'm no pro by anymeans. Before i feel into this magent about 8 or 9 years ago i was a jig and float guy and loved that and i still do love that. I just don't see a ton of posting on here and i thought i would share my experience and try to help folks out. I was able to show some folks at the place we stayed at the same way and they ended up with some success as well. I think this would be an awesome technique around monkey island as well. One year they had 4 units running so we ran down into turkey creek and really did good there to.
  3. Its not just this stretch it works everywhere its legal on the lake. My favorite strech is Fall Creek to Trout Hollow really. They work very well on a float also, i just don't do that as much. One year at Lilleys i caught quite a few off his dock using a float with them. We just stayed in this area this trip because we didn't burn much boat gas and there was no need to go anywhere else honestly. When i fish them with a float i fish it in the same manner/places and depths that you would use a normal jig and float.
  4. 2 pound test and good glasses. Watch the magnet and you will either watch the fish swim up and eat it or it will simply disappear. The water is exceptionally clear right now to

  9. honestly i average 50 to 100 fish each morning of each trip for the past 7 years i've been using that magnet down there. i don't fish it like everyone else though, i don't use an indicator. I fish it straight and basically sight fish by watching them eat it. depth doesn't matter as long as it's close to the bottom.
  10. probably coming back down the week of thanksgiving. i usually come in the summer like this year but we are coming back and i've never been down there that time of year. I know you can't ever predict the flow patterns but that time of year do they generally run alot of water, not run alot of water etc?
  11. Don't see alot of reports on here so thought I would post. Ran water all week but we caught a ton of fish. The only place we fished all week was front the old sun valley dock area to the Cooper Creek ramp area on the bluff side. Averaged 40 to 60 rainbows and a couple brown's each morning and was off the water by 8:30 am. Usually made 2 passes the last hour of daylight with another 25 or so caught. Wednesday morning we had 67 bows by 7:30 am. Only kept enough to fry up 2 nights. The rest are swimming. All fish came on the Trout Magnet and all hooked in the lips and returned safely. Can't wait to get back down in November
  12. No they are flowing 3 units..it wasn't setting any speed records!
  13. Everytime i've called the number this week they have said they are running 3 units. they doing that around the clock right now? sure hoping they shut it down next week some, I love to throw trout magents with no cork, just straight and it's tough to do in that much flow.
  14. Any guess on flows starting late this week thru next?
  15. I have a falcon cara Amistad that i use for mine and i love it. I also have 2 of the Falcon Bucco Microguide Amistads and LOVE them alot as well. In fact they are probably my favorite and a bit cheaper.
  16. 2 years ago right across from you resort i thought i had hooked a big brown but it ended up being a 4 pound smallie......was pretty dang fun on 2 pound test line. I'll be down in a couple of weeks and i'll make at least one drift down that stretch throwing rapalas and rogues for old times sake.
  17. do you see many browns anymore on the bluffs across from your resort Phil? We used to catch a bunch there in the summer quite a few years ago.
