  1. I'll keep a single legal fish. I've ate many a lunch this way. May not be enough for the family, but still tasty.
  2. I'm right there with you.
  3. Its actually up the Indian Creek arm. Ive heard they are by the dam also, but have yet to venture over there. I still think they have not kicked into high gear though. I could be wrong. This may just be an off year. But for the previous two years with the right lure you could load them into the boat one after another. I see big schools of them, and can even tell when they follow my lures, but they seem disinterested. I have to wonder just how quickly you could load the boat with one tiny stick of dynamite.......lol
  4. To add to this, I took the boys out yesterday. Hard to fish on a weekday with the boys, getting them back for bed for school in the morning. But they each got to reel in one so it was not a total bust. The fish are there, but they are not hot on the bite yet. It is still a week or so before I really started catching them last year, but I am hoping things will pick up. I would like to take the boys and wear them out reeling in the fish. I have seen a few guys up there, but still never seen one reel anything in. May go out this weekend.
  5. How do you not fish on a day like yesterday. Got home loaded the boat and grabbed my oldest boy. Plan was to look for whites, and if none, go to the walleye hole. About 3 miles down Indian Creek road my cheapness decided to rear its head when a tire on the boat gave out. Of course being so close to the lake I thought "eh, I don't need to tote around a spare with me......" Thankfully the wife was obliged to bring me one from the house. So I finally managed to get it on, get it aired up....., and hit the water about 6. Went to where I have been waiting for the whites to congregate and low and behold they have decided to finally show up for the party! I know its just getting started, but even so its just amazing to see that many fish on your sonar. They hit a flicker shad right off the bat, but then I had some trouble getting them to bite again and the trash in the water was seriously hindering the cranks from running correctly. So I shut down the big motor and used the electric with some Alabama rigs over the side. Caught two more that way, and one when they started busting the top and I threw out a single road runner with grub on it. All in all not a bad trip for such a short one. Had to get the boy back for dinner and bed, and I then had to go into work for a few hours. I will be getting some new grubs today for the A-rigs and heading back out with both the boys in tow this time - along with a spare tire. Water temp was 54.5 pretty steady. A-rigs have some road runners(not sure of the weight but thinking 3/8oz) with bucktail center trailers. White on one side, chartreuse on the other. Both were pretty faded and the bite only came on the white side. Hoping that some fresh color will help. Water was 20'-30' and they were all over the water column. I felt like I was too high, then too low, finally I just put one high and one low and let her rip. Did not have much time to try small steps up and down, so I'll be trying that tonight. Clarity is very low, lots of trash. Had to clean the lines quite a bit. They are not quite ready yet, there were a couple other guys out there that did not look like they were catching(I could be wrong though), but I think things will take off in the next two weeks. Three were females full of eggs, one a male. Sorry, no pictures, but I'll try to remember them tonight. Hope its a repeat of yesterday just a tad better because my boys will love it.
  6. That's pretty good there. I'm with Jdoc, you make it very tempting to try yak fishing.
  7. Did the water temp come down from last week? I've been gone all weekend, thinking of hitting Indian Creek tonight. Last week the temps were up to 52 degrees around LBN and Indian Creek area.
  8. Im confused...lol Do you have to present the fish alive at the time of weighing at Hook Line and Sinker? Trust me....if I even catch one worth bringing in, it will also be leaving with me and be a guest in my kitchen.
  9. yes or no on the alive thing? I've never done a contest, but all the ones I've heard the fish have to be alive.
  10. That's what I was told at least, I have not personally been down to look.
  11. Your correct on this. The mudline has passed our intake facility which is past the Islands headed toward the dam.
  12. What's the 5th species..... I don't see it listed, but do the fish have to be brought in alive?
  13. What area?
  14. More of from the mouth of Indian Creek up. I have a bad habit of not trying new things and always sticking to the old things and not trying new ones. I am going to make it a point to at least motor over to the dam and day area next time out. Water clarity is way different this end. I was looking over the edge of the boat watching the bottom, toward low light even, and would look at the sonar when I could not see it anymore. I was seeing 13'-14'.
  15. Went out yesterday evening with a friend. Just spent a couple hours out, but managed one walleye. Trolling cranks in 14-16 FOW. Indian Creek area. 22" male, still full and happy to let it go. 53 degrees. With all the other reports I am hoping this cold front does not hamper things too long because it seems to be kicking up. Cant wait to chase the whites up in my area. Hopefully we are only a week or so out. Not much of a report, but figured I'd share the info.
  16. Did you get that striper on topwater or trolling?
  17. That's like going to a buffet
  18. Yum! I haven't had crappie in a long time.

    June trip

If I remember right, it was right around the first of June last year that I caught a few of my biggest stripers to date, including the one in my picture there. They were caught on another guys boat trolling some long bomber lures. We were fishing up around Rocky Branch. I am no expert in it though, so I cannot tell you much. But I do know, from personal experience, that May and June are the two top months I love to fish and catch most of my fish in them. Nice thing about Beaver now is that you are likely to hook up with a walleye while trolling for stripers, or vise versa. Both happened to me last year. I would bring your boat. If nothing else, you can feel good about driving around the lake. Unless you have the cash to blow, and like to ride in other peoples boats. Keep an eye on here and when your fixing to come down you'll have all the current data to make as good a chance on the stripers as the professionals chasing them.
  20. Ok....I want what you have.... Now I see why you said they "looked" like paddle fish. With that unit it might as well put a sign on them.
  21. How do you distinguish from big cats? I know there are big cats in the lake.
  22. That would have been cool. What does one look like on a graph?
  23. I know live bait can be king here, but do artificials do any good? I so do not need to think about adding another setup to my boat, but I can see me trying this in the coming years
  24. We need pictures of you guys setups. I've seen them before, but know that they can vary greatly.
