John W Kelly replied to John W Kelly's topic in Buy - Sell - Trade
Well, it's real close to a 7...you could pretend, haha. -
Brand new un-fished. Hasn't had a reel on it. Still has plastic wrap on the cork. $200 pm me if interested.

- Take a look at using polyethylene film (plastic) for the outer layer. It is a heavy duty plastic that has been uv treated for greenhouse use. It is relatively light weight, disperses sunlight well, and inexpensive. - You could build some 4ft wide benches, 2ft high, out of 2x4's and chicken wire to set flats and/or pots on. - Also, if you're planning to pump water from the spring, look into getting an inline fertilizer injector. Mount it above a rain barrel, mix fertilizer in the barrel, then drop the intake hose of the injector into the barrel and draw up fertilizer while watering. - You might want to figure out some type of vent system; with a fan on one end of the greenhouse to pull air in and some louvers on the other end. Also, you can hang several smaller fans for air circulation if needed. - A couple of space heaters would probably be enough to keep the greenhouse warm in the winter (?). - Hopefully the long side of the slab faces north/south.

This guy and his little buddy wandered up to us in the pavilion this weekend while we were eating some Subway. He was cordial, but appeared to be focused on the business at hand (literally). After a brief conversation with him, my brother asked him if he would like to have a piece of chicken. He of course moved closer, preparing with anticipation to receive a fat morsel of juicy goodness, when just at that moment the faded words written on his collar came into view "DO NOT FEED ME". My brother said: "You poor guy, that just isn't fair is it?" .

Thanks for sharing! -
This link works on my android mobile devices (phone and tablet) and opens a screen that is identical to the actual "app" when I click on it. http://92dde882-3cfb-4c7f-adcc-87502002a0c8.conduitapps.com/?src=banners&p={t:728x90@64}#app-navigation-page If I click on the link with my laptop or desktop computer running Windows, it takes me to a screen that prompts to download the app., and has a large image of an iphone. The icons within the image is the actual working app; just click on them. I don't know if any of this works the same on an iphone. btw, I charge $4.99 for this post.

It was nice to meet you all and thanks for the great food and conversation! Also, thank you Ducky for the flies and advice. I landed several today on your tan scud .

I would guess (?) that if you came to the New Years Day get-together tomorrow at the pavilion, someone would be glad to point out some areas to fish from and how to do it.

Reservations made. Looking forward to it! -
I'm in. Looking forward to hanging out with everyone...and hopefully pick up tips on how to properly fish an outlet . Im not much of a cook, so is there any preference for a certain store bought side or snack of some sort? Potato chips, potato salad, coleslaw, doritos, cookies??

I was there Friday and fished zone 1 until about 3:30. I didn't see or catch any micro-lunkers until I threw in below the spillway and immediately caught this one:

It's a reasonable question, but they do not fit the definition of a 'soft plastic bait'. It is a relatively hard and non-flexible material, which is permanently attached.

Fished Bennett yesterday (Friday 12-27). The water was crystal clear and there were fish everywhere. Most of them were relatively small in the 10"-14" range, but still fun to catch. I started at the spring, at 8am, and worked my way down through zone 1 to end up at the bridge by 4. There were only about a dozen people in the entire zone, so it was nice to not feel the pressure of being compressed into a small rectangle of fishing space. I fished the whole day with 2 different patterns of flies that I made. The first was a "JFly Opal Glitz" and the second was a "JFly Ruby Glitz" (see pics). They are made with hot melt glitter glue and sparkle as they rotate in the sunlight. I used the Opal Glitz for the first half of the day and managed to land 9 fish, then switched to the Ruby Glitz in the afternoon and landed 7 more. I've noticed before that the Ruby Glitz works well at Bennett in the afternoon when the bite usually dies down. The numbers could have been a lot more, but I was practicing using 7x tippet, so I was trying to set the hook more gently. I had many missed takes and quite a few failed hook-ups, but I only broke off two flies while setting the hook. I usually lose about a dozen when using 7x. The Opal Glitz works well at Taney too, and I included it in the "OAF Winter Swap 2014" here: JFly Opal Glitz: JFly Ruby Glitz: Panorama of the spring in the morning: First run: Clear water and fish above the spillway: A Mayfly hatch started around 1:00 near the spillway and trout were taking them off the surface. I dug through the floating plants along the bank to photograph the larva, but didn't have any luck: I took a (crummy) short video while standing on the base of the spillway, which I hadn't done before . It was a little scary at first. There was a hatch occurring and a bunch of fish were popping out of the water, which you can sort-of see in the video (use HQ setting). The flies were hitting me in the face as they went up and over the spillway: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_BviHcbYZf4 Bennett Spring Trout Cam: http://mostateparks.com/content/trout-cam

The ingredients are pretty simple. It's just hooks, beads, wire, and different mixtures of hot melt glue. I use a soldering iron to mix different colors and to sculpt the shape, then I wrap them with wire. The segments on the worms are made by tightening a piece of monofilament around them. This presses the groves into the glue.

Congratulations on your win! I tied the 5 white-ish midges... There was a good turn out for the party. People were coming and going, but there were always between 20 and 30 present. The food was really good, and the discounts too! ...

Cool Christmas present!!! They look like they should be mounted and framed in some sort of acrylic display box or something...

I haven't pond fished with any of my flies, so I don't know how well they would work; otherwise, I would be glad to. I'll do the one pictured below, if you want. It's not flashy or anything, but I caught a Black Crappie with it up by the dam at Taney (and trout too).

I would like to be in too if I could. I'll supply at least two, or more(?), of my own hot melt glue midge creations that were very productive this past summer and fall at Taneycomo and Bennett Spring. The "Fat Maggot"
