Bigger fish are few and far between anymore. With a 4 fish limit...it's hardly enough fillets for a decent meal. Why they didn't leave it at 5 I'll never know !

Ditto muskie bob !!! Missouri isn't known for it's muskie fishing.....bass and crappie are what people here fish for !! Use to be a gem for them here too ! No one ask the conservation department to stock and manage fellows lake with muskies anyway. Besides....I think it's ruining the fishery there too ! I suspect they are eating anything they can run down....seems you don't catch the bass and crappie like you used to. We had some whites last winter that had huge slash scars on their sides.....hummmm.....wonder what did that ?

There are some catchable fish for sure at the dam. Always save for last if all other places fail.

Sick of all these phony politicians !!! They don't represent any of us. They don't listen or care about anything you have to say. It's all about control and it will get worst !!! I say my $30 user pass is my ramp access paid in full whether anyone is on duty or not. And my taxes are paid.....so get out of the way !!! Let's fish and the hell with them ! I'd say save your gas. Bass are locked up for me. Cold front isn't gonna help any.

I suppose it does.depend on store and who's behind the counter. Really surprised they exchanged a rod that wasn't house brand though. Still rather buy from a local "mom and pop" store especially when they have exactly what BPS has and the price is close or less. I think Johnny's got enough money by now. Lol

I quit buying bass pro rods a long time ago. They will haggle you on an exchange of their own brand and you can forget a replacement on a brand name. They will tell you the manufacture has to replace it. Buy from fin and feather.....John will switch you out no problem !!

Looking to go Sunday. Pretty well done with mid lake for awhile. Thinking Cedar Ridge and fishing up towards Aldrich. Gotta say redshad.....your report last weekend has got me to thinking !!! Know a few spots of my own ....can't wait to get to 'em !! Good luck all. Be safe.

Wasn't much of one Quillback. We worked with what we had. Lol

Went up and put in at Crab Tree Saturday afternoon. Gorgeous day for sure....blue skies...little wind...no crowds....oh yeah, cold front came through. Didn't take us long to figure out the effect it was having on bass fishing. Went up towards State Park and fished points on north side and some bluff banks. Threw jigs as usual (its an addiction) and managed 2-3 dinks. Worked our way back towards the quarry with very little success then went to my "go to" spot near the dam and salvaged our dignity. Funny thing though...they didn't want a big bait. No to the jigs..worms..cranks...but hello to a more subtle presentation as in shaky head/ 8 inch wacky worm and 4 inch tube Texas rigged. Colors were varied (didn't seem to matter)...watermelon green...watermelon red....peanut butter. They were all over it til around 10 pm then lights out. We did.manage 15 fish with 2 keeps (barely). As a side note....where is everybody on a gorgeous full moon night ? Saw not one boat from sunset to leaving the lake. Anyway.....wasn't a washed out trip given the conditions and it can only get better.....Fall is here !!! Be safe.

Heard they are on bluff banks PHhunter. Slow draggin' a jig or salty craw off the shelfs was getting some bigger fish.

Doesn't take much wind to screw up the water at the dam...that's for sure ! Going up Sat. afternoon and fishing through the night. Moon will be just past full. Cool front coming in too. We'll see what the bass do or not. Gonna jig the dam area and some deep banks around State Park

Dutch...for me right now....it's go deep or go home. Lol

Dutch....if you can fish a jig/craw, you could catch these bass. The technique or pattern rather, was easy to pick up on. These fish were waiting for anything to drift down that slope.

Pardon my ignorance.....what might a gunfish be ? Top water I assume ? Who makes it and where to get one ?
