  2. Just bought a tackle box full of crank baits for $20 at a yard sale don't use crank baits much and was wondering if anyone uses wiggle warts on table rock any info would be nice. There were 8 wiggle warts and 32 other baits in the box so it was to good of a buy to pass up. I also wanted to learn how to fish them I mainly fish jigs or worms texas rigged
  3. went last night and caught 10 to 15 shorts on a green pumpkin foot ball jig with a baby brush hog for a trailer. Most fish came off of one point in 15 to 25 feet of water.

  7. ouch I have had my wife hook the back of my neck once luckily she is a nurse and got it pulled out. That would have been a costly fishing trip. No insurance at the time

  9. coming from a law enforcement stand point dealing with illegals is a pain while I don't work for mdc I do work for a local Police department in the elk river area. I have arrested several for D.W.I and other nonviolent crimes. I.C.E will not deport them. Most of the time when a detainer is placed on them they are taken to Springfield then released. I have stopped them at D.W.I check points at Ginger Blue arrested them for various crimes No D.L and while inventorying the vehicle have found two coolers full of 9 to 10 inch bass and they are ticketed they then change their name and go on as if id did not happen. Local law enforcement needs more assistance form the feds to deal with this problem but that is not going to happen any time soon
  10. thanks guys will be giving it a try Friday or Saturday night at big m myself it has been pretty slow but they have to bite sometime right?
  11. To be honest I am not really a snake person and for me to id them I usually have to see the whole snake. The fact that I am color blind dose not help. sorry guys
  12. I think it is a copper head I have found some here that are about that color with a similar markings. Found 2 copper heads three weeks ago one was the normal color and pattern while the other was darker in color but had the same markings. I also might add that they were found within 100 yards of each other and were about the same size.
  13. sorry quill know how you feel
  14. Sorry hit the post button to soon but my opinion of the original subject is it could go ether way for the shooter. I would guess he will probably pea bargain to one of the man slaughter classes. if it goes to trial I would look for the defense to question the witnesses credibility and bring up that the shooter was trying to remove people whom he thought were trespassing on his property I also think the castell doctrine will come into play as well. Mainly the part that you do not have to retreat from a threat on your own property. the people became a threat when they picked up rocks. I can see a good defense attorney possibly winning a jury trial for the shooter but it will cast him big $ to do it
  15. I wont fish there for may fist till the end of September and then I wont take my family there at all
  16. Elk river. It seams to cycle on the problems some years are worse than others.. I don't know of any major incidents other than the normal assaults and drunken B.S. but floods might have had something to do with that.
  17. I do not know what that they did with the money but I do know after that incident the farmer will not let anyone cross his land to access the river almost had to arrest him once because he would not allow a ambulance access across his property to the river to deal with a woman who had a severe case of alcohol posining
  18. not much to report last 2 weeks have been slow at night for me anyway
  19. I almost did not know how to type the report on that incident but this is just one instance of the problems that have been caused by drunk floaters. During the summer we usually have 2 deputies doing nothing but patrolling camp grounds. I might also add that the campgrounds pay the deputies over time hours for this serevice during the summer. but most of the time 2 is not. I have seen fights happen at these camp grounds were over 100 people were involved. and there was only 7 cops in the whole county to deal with this problem. This number also includes the city officer from the county as well
  20. I was actually one of the cops that had to deal with the calf beinging loaded in the canoe. The three men that were attempting to load the calf were very drunk. and had actually walked thru the farmers hay field to the barn lot and led the calf back to the river (the calf was the farmers kids 4h project so it was broke to lead on a rope). When I got there it was not a plesant scene to say the least. The drunks had actually dropped the calf off of a cut bank and broke one of its front legs. To make a long story short the calf was put down the drunks arrested and charged successful I might add for theft of livestock. the farmer also sued the pants off of all threre men I think that calf cost them around 25 to 30 thousand dollars.
  21. It is not only about access rights. iI the arear were I am at we have had stabbings car thefts more assaults than I care to count all coming from the canoe crowd on the weekends. A lot of the river property is farm ground and the land owners all get tired of cleaning up litter and have property destroyed by drunk crowds from the campgrounds( fences well back from the water lie being cut gates taken down) 1 landowner caught a group stealing a 150lb calf out of his filed and trying to load it in there canoe. I like to fish the rivers and streams as much as anyone but I don't now because it has turned into a large drunk frat party every weekend and most landowners are tired of it.
  22. will have to agree with old plug on the crawdads vs hellgarmmites for small mouth and goggle eye on big sugar an elk river also
  23. Fished the big M area Saturday night tried shallow and deep only got five bites and caught 4 short spots on black and orange jig with a green pumpkin brush hog for a trailer. All the bites came from deep rock or brush piles.
