  1. Bass= Jerkbait and a-rig crappie= jigs in deeper brushpiles 25'- 40'. I have not ever tried it but I hear underneath schools of shad.
  2. Our regular members usually make 5-7 boats. Pays 1 place for every 5 boats
  3. For the most part it was 49-50. I found one cove, just inside googer creek, that dropped to 47.8 in the back end. I caught 2 in there but they were about half way back in the cove instead of the very back. Maybe I have missed a good bite over the years but I can not remember a time that I was fishing the buck brush and stumps where I can clearly see the bottom and watch my bait take off sideways or just disappear suddenly, this time of year. Good times and duly noted. A good lesson on fishing the conditions I suppose.
  4. Btlifes2short I would like to thank you for your report. I only had 4-5 hours yesterday to fish and my stubbornness wasted the first three. Tried force feeding the bass wiggle warts and jerkbaits. Finally tied on a spinnerbait and headed to the back of a cove. Probably 8-10 casts later had my first keeper. Over the next couple hours I landed 9 bass. Only 3 were keepers with one being a 4lb 6oz and the other two being solid little keepers. I fished the mid lake area Mutton Creek to about the 215 bridge. Your report salvaged my day of cold, wind, and periods of light rain. This is definitely going in my fishing journal. I have to rite these things down because I am doing good to to remember the last couple days let alone what I did to get bit next year at this time.
  5. Good ol' Boys Open Buddy Bass Tournament. December 5, Old State Park, 7:30am-3:30pm, $55 entry includes BB, no membership fee.
  6. I do not remember exact numbers but that is pretty accurate 5fshlmt. We are having another open tournament December 5.
  7. Oh mercy, I meant OAF not OAA. Hope I don't get black balled for that little typo.
  8. Sixstring - as of rite now I only know of 6-7 boats. The only response from OAA was about an hour ago from Brandon Knight. We (I) scheduled it for the 14th to avoid conflict with the circuits already scheduled this month. Brandon- it would be great to have you fish with us. Hope you can find a partner
  9. Thanks for info. Haven't been there for a week and didn't do very well on the crappie. I was blaming it on a lack of shad because it surely wasn't my lack of skill.
  10. Sounds like a good time. Were the shad pretty thick in there? Like black out your graph thick?
  11. Sorry forgot to say where. Stockton Lake - Old Sate Park ramp

  13. Good ol' Boys open buddy bass tournament - November 14, 2015 - 7:00am - 3:00pm $55 entry fee includes BB. No membership fee. Pay at ramp. Pays 1 place per 5 boats up to 4 places.
  14. I don't troll much really. What I do know is most of the time this time of year most of my bites are about 6" off bottom. Pardon my grammar skills something doesn't look right about that sentence.
  15. A buddy and I brought home our limits of crappie Sunday. I was off work yesterday and another buddy and I brought home our limits of crappie and three walleye, one of which was a 6lb 3oz bruiser. We had to work at it each time but they are there. Should only get better with cooler water temps coming
  16. I have found a great fall crappie bite in the CC area for the last 6-7 years. I am not the only one by any means either. Because when the water gets to about 60 degrees and cooler, it reminds me of opening day at roaring river with all the boats and people on the bank. I counted 18 boats and 12 people on bank one Saturday morning that was from the ramp to the first cove just east of the bridge. All types of presentations going on such as casting to bank and hoping a jig down the ledges, to drifting or trolling jigs and whatnot. My preference is vertical jigging the brush piles along channel ledge east of the bridge with 1/16oz jigs. Once the water drops to 40 degrees it seems to shut off. That's when I head north around Roark bluff area and fish steep points with brush.
  17. Sorry just saw your reply. But marsh hawk obviously found what we found. Right on bank to about 15 fow
  18. I have heard several stories of catching them in brush piles around Ruark and Mutton Creek. We have been doing pretty good on bluffs around CC. 1/16 oz jig hopping it down the ledges.
  19. We saw quite a few at Pomme de Terre last October. Took us a little bit to figure out what they were.
  20. Very cool idea. I would love to have some. How much a piece or dozen? What hook are using?
  21. We have caught some crappie this week on bluffs. 5-10fow bass assins and bobby garlands on 1/16 oz lead heads. Shad colors. Throwing up to shore and hoping it down the ledges. Mite be a little tough for a little guy though. I used to throw a minnow and bobber out for my kids to keep them somewhat entertained then when I hooked one with my rod just let them reel it in. It was always a lot of work but I wouldn't trade any of those memories for anything. Now they both fish small bass tournaments with me.
  22. Started about 11:00am to about 6:00pm. 5-10fow. Bluffs. Bass assigns and bobby garlands on 1/16 oz lead head. Shad type colors. We would throw it right up to the shore and hop it down the ledges and off the rocks just under the water that you could see. Seemed get better when the sun popped out. We brought home 30. We caught a lot of 9-9 31/32" fish. My buddy went back today with another buddy of ours and they brought home 18 with only about 20-25 short fish. Not that it was a bad day just not as good as yesterday. He had a grocery list of reasons like the wind was blowing harder and it rained more today but I think it was just because I wasn't there to lead them. Hahaha. Thanks to everybody that had previously posted about that bite. My buddy had actually found that last week also and when I read your posts I had to go try it. I think we just got a little lucky and hit the right day for a change.
  23. Mutton Creek south isn't very well lit. It's not lit at all when the hoodlums steal the battery for the light.
  24. Nice mess of fish
