Your right..Grand can be bad too. Let me ask all the Beaver regulars this...how many times have you been on Beaver in the trough of 2 waves and couldn't see anything but water on both sides?! I can't count the times this has happened to me over the years on Lake of the Ozarks!!
I hear ya showmebass...lake of the ozarks was my home lake for over 30 years. No disrespect to the locals around here but I chuckle every time someone says how rough Beaver was today or how horrible the boat traffic is. The WORST day on Beaver is a NORMAL weekend on Lake of
The Ozarks!!!
Fished most of the night last night and they finally started to bite around 1-2AM. We caught them under floating lights in 15-25 feet of water. Ended up with a livewell full!!
Nice Wrench!! That's funny that Old Plug thinks you wouldn't be throwing a big worm right now! I fished Lake O for over 20 years and when post spawn came around, it was time to start throwing the big worm!!
I was putting my boat on the trailer at PC yesterday around 12:30. As I was about 20 feet from the trailer, a wave runner backed off his trailer next to me and immediately gunned it! Waked me while loading and flew out of the pocket that the boat ramp is in. No. Common. Sense.
Was running down the lake early yesterday morning and there was tons of people striper fishing in the Rocky Branch area. Talked to a couple guys that caught a few on top water. And I know of a 27 pounder caught this morning on top.
Yes, I fished the chamber today.
Yes, I had a great day at 14.83 pounds, good enough for 6th.
Yes, I saw a guy in a kayak with a Santa Claus hat on.
No, I had not been drinking!! Should have taken a pic of him!!
FLW rules state that pros can not get any 'local' knowledge from a co-angler in the back of the boat. Steve would not have been able to help his pro at all. I launched at prairie this morning and stayed with Matt Arey for a couple hours. Saw him catch 7 or 8 keepers but he culled almost all of them later in the day. My good friend Mike Surman finished 10th and he caught all of his fish in 20+ feet of water all week.
I actually had supper with Clark and Mike Surman last night. Clark said it won't be near the weights of the last couple years and more like the Beaver of old times. Trust me...I gave him 20 questions on the current state of Beaver and what he thought of the couple weeks to come(I have chamber,Everett and castmasters coming up). He provided some great info on the lake..he told me to text him next weekend if his predictions come true!!
Don't see an average bag of 17 pounds or better happening...the major wave of spawners has not happened yet and several guys were up looking at the little guys in practice. I'm sure there will be guys on that pre spawn pattern but to catch a average bag of 17+ pounds right now for 4 days straight with 150 FLW guys on the water is beyond tough.
Moonlight madness 12 hour tournament was out of Hickory Creek Saturday night. Only 15 boats showed with the nasty weather but the big bags showed up at weigh-in!! 6 fish limit...1st was over 21 lbs, 2nd was 18.98 lbs, 3rd was 18.57 lbs and 4th was 17.99 lbs!! Rumor was spinnerbait or a spinnerbait....
I myself did not fish it...I stayed home and watched my Cardinals get beat in game 1.
Most fish were caught on cranks, jigs or top water. I believe the overall winner caught his on a jig and 2nd place was on a crank bait. One guy weighed in a smallmouth over 4 pounds caught on a black/red buzzbait!
