2160 Topwater with 60/40 merc jet for sale
JamiePatterson replied to JamiePatterson's topic in Buy - Sell - Trade
You know, whole bragging about the current state of riverboat manufacturing, outboard motors are so much better these days too! I’ve had a 40/30 Yamaha and it was super. Good push and great on fuel. This boat, with the 60/40 Merc does better on fuel than the 20 jet on my old boat. That is, running a given distance (say cotter to white hole) I’m absolutely certain the new mercury 4 stroke will do it with less gasoline. It just opens up the river and makes a day more productive 😀 -

Lol, I doubt that seriously 🙂 -figure the opposite is most likely true!!! I really think as far as the river boats go, the Topwaters take the cake. Soooooo much attention to detail and thought out into them. One of the best things about them might just be how all the other manufacturers have stepped up their game to match these days. All the riverboats are leaps and bounds ahead of where they were at just a short time ago. We (family) still use the “legend” riverboat I bought 22yrs ago -I just hate to now. Guess I’m spoiled lol. New rig is gonna be a 2072 aluminum with airboat poly on the bottom. 150/105 jet tiller most likely. I’ve ordered the aluminum, almost done with the trailer 👍 -

Stay outta my holes Ham! 😂😂😂 -
Now for the better ones LOL I’ve caught a bunch of fish, so it’s great to see my wife and kiddos catch them. Right after I got the second Brown my nine-year-old thought she was hung up. Turned out she was hung in a dandy!

Got a chance to do a little fishing last week. We were able to get on some good fish! Missed a chance at a 12 to 15 pound brown and I’m still replaying him over and over in my head...

Yes, 60” bottom. Boat has lived in my garage (a lot cleaner than my dirty farm shop lol) when not on the river. Great layout for my family -wife, 9 and 7 year old daughters, and myself. 9yo even caught a good brown out of it last week 😊 -

Hi folks, I’m selling my Topwater river boat. I bought it new three years ago this month. It’s been a super rig, but changing directions and going with a monster jet boat now. This rig has a deluxe trailer with 18 inch rims and spare, two AGM batteries for the trolling motor with onboard charger, 80lb minnkota riptide trolling motor, custom fitted trailer able cover, 2 spider seat bases with 3 total seats, 3 tube rod holder (will hold 6-9 rods), and a 9 gallon gas tank. Rig runs great! 15,500

I’m listing my shallow water, tunnel hull boat for sale. The boat was custom built in 2011. It has a 3/16”thick bottom with 1/8” sides both out of 5086 alloy. It’s crazy tough! The stringers run longitudinally and the bottom is slick. What this means is that it’s very resistant to denting from stumps, etc.The boat has a triple taper chine for improved turning. The sides are broke in a fade crimp to deflect spray away from occupants. Tunnel is 5” deep and vented.Inside the boat has an open layout with a gun/rod box down the left side. The front has a removable, dual LED light bar. There is an instrument panel that controls the light bar, bulge pump, LED shark eye nav lights, and back-lighting for the gauges. Elevated surfaces in the boat are covered in grey Hydro-turf. The remainder of the interior is coated in camouflage bed liner. It’s got clear coat over the base Camo to help with cleanup. Boat has stake-out pockets built in the front deck and the rear step-deck.The boat is powered by a 2011. 90HP E-TEC tiller. The motor has a 12 gal tank under the front deck and a 4 blade Power-Tech “flats super cup” prop for shallow water running. (Additional 4 blade stainless prop included). The motor runs easy in spite of being a tiller handle. When trimmed into the Sweet Spot there’s zero torque . The tiller allows an open layout and maximizes room in the boat. It’s way more responsive than a console for running tight spots as well.Boat runs around 38mph, will carry a tremendous load, run super shallow, and generally out perform a mud motor rig in most all situations -I ran a surface drive for 4 years before building this boat. The boat is big enough to be safe and still perform in the environment it needs to. It’ll run big water to get to the backwaters and then still jump a beaver dam to get to the ducks/fish. I don’t use it much anymore and feel dumb having it setting in my barn. Call or text with any questions. Price $16,000.

I did a little more searching. Sounds like they only put around 100 golden rainbows in... oh well, lol
-
Hey folks, you kiddo wants to catch one of the “golden trout” they recently stocked in the white. Any clue where they put em in at?

I’d you wanted to boat up to cedar wood lodge from buffalo city you’d need a couple units running. The shoal is nasty... not as big a deal to come down to that area from upriver at rim shoals. Not sure if they are in business still, but angels retreat is about a half mile up from cedar wood. Maybe try vrbo -several of the houses in the ranchettes (where cedar wood is located) rent there. Expect a $250 per night stay at most of em though.

Thank you so much! We will probably stay at a lodge or two. Spend a little time on one river and then move to another just to get to see more country. I plan on bringing one of my river boats. Not sure if I should bring a big Topwater with a jet motor or a small river boat with a 9.9. Those are all streams I’ve been reading about. Looking like a July trip, so it sounds like we will miss out on the salmon and steelhead ☹️ I would like to find something big though. Browns or rainbows, whatever LOL
-
Reposted - I put this up on the general trout page also... Howdy folks, looking for a little insight. Thinking about taking the wife on a little trip this July and fishing some in Michigan. Anyone have any advice to offer? Looks like there is a small summer run of steelhead in a few of their rivers, plus brown and rainbow trout. We've fished out west every summer, just thought about trying something a bit different. Any advice you could offer would be awesome.

Took the kids and a few friends up to the river. Holy smokes! Way to much water for the kiddos to bait fish. Managed to catch a few but it was rough. Got to do a little adult fishing in between. Ended up with a nice double with a 23” and a 21 1/2” -the shorter fish was actually heavier. Next fish 100yds down the bank was a 20 1/4” brown lol. Big flows = heavy baits and lots of lost lures. That, and taking all the wives out for a couple hours (so many jigs adorning tree limbs now) means I’m about to send a bunch of money Richard Cross’s way lol.

That’s awesome!

Here fishy fishy. Who invited the wind???
JamiePatterson replied to JamiePatterson's topic in White River
Had 2 today right at 20”. Nice fish for sure. Still bummed out about the hook pulling out of whatever it was. Nice hook set right on the bottom in a seam about 8’deep, fish shook his head side to side like a big’un will, then sat down on the bottom. When I put some pressure on him he flat out bolted -I thought this is gonna be fun! Then the line went slack ;( He felt BIG! ps: worked our butts off today for 102 fish. Pps: buddy had the lower unit come apart internally in a newer 20 Yamaha 😳😩 gear oil full of metal. -
