  1. A (usable) spin cast setup on Norfork. A spinning reel (trash) on the white.. Below Beaver Dam I caught some line, it came off...caught it again, pulled it in and it was attached to a live 12" rainbow, which I released.
  2. Hope to hit it this weekend!
  3. I know I didn't have any luck when I went on the 15th. Put in at HI and looked for them from there to just below Housman. Only catch was a three foot gar on a jigging spoon!
  4. I drove down to twin bridges yesterday to check it out- it was PACKED! Cars & trailers parked all the way out to the highway. WOW! I talked to some guys and they said they were spread out, but they were catching a few downstream from the bridge about 1/2 mile or so. I decided to go back to war eagle mill- but nothing there yet...
  5. I've never been that far up river- what is the water depth? Is is strictly flat bottom / river boat territory?
  6. Sounds like a blast! I saw a few yaks out yesterday- in the back of Avoca and some more just outside Praire creek.
  7. I thought I had a F&F sighting yesterday at Cabela's but wasn't sure if it was you because you weren't holding a large fish! if it was you, now I know and I'll be sure to say "hi" next time... As always, thanks for the report!
  8. Prarie Creek
  9. With upper Beaver muddying up, I was thinking about launching at HI and heading up stream this weekend, searching for Wally and Whitey... Any reports if the whites are moving in yet?
  10. So Beaver tail water doesn't have a caddis hatch like below Bull shoals, hmm, didn't know that... What would be the big difference? Does it have to do with River flow?
  11. I went out yesterday to our cove and the gizzard shad were so thick you could almost walk across. I snagged three ~10-12" long, it looked like they were feeding on some type of small midge fly hatch. They were hitting the top of the water like crazy.. Also landed a healthy 16" LM so made the trip worthwhile
  12. So how far do you think we are from the first caddis hatch?
  13. Found this information interesting... It looks like there is an active plan (although this is dated) "Watershed Restoration Action Strategy" There might be an updated plan/ version. And here are a few projects that have been completed http://www.bae.ncsu.edu/programs/extension/wqg/nmp_conf/2012_tulsa/25formica.pdf
  14. Witness protection program ?
  15. That is interesting, I was thinking of shad as bait balls / clouds. I guess bigger shad (gizzard) may show up as individual fish... good to know, thanks!
  16. So I went out and made some recordings yesterday... still playing, and learning... Because I don’t have a SI unit, I was told that I can mount the Transducer as shoot through hull (manual even states this), but when I look at things like standing timber I don’t see the clear "trees" like I see in other's screenshots (last Image) Would mounting outside hull really improve clarity that much, or am I asking expecting too much from this unit (788ci HD DI) I found plenty of fish, they didn’t mind getting their picture taken, but they didn’t cooperate in visiting the boat. (middle pic) And lastly ran into some very large groups of shad, even confirmed it by snagging a couple with a jigging spoon! (first pic) I've got some thoughts on what I was seeing, but always appreciate comments or interpretations.
  17. I'm heading out tomorrow AM, we will see.... Given my luck, if you see me head the other direction, that's where the fish will be.... Just happy to be getting on the water!
  18. Am I dreaming- In the 60's all next week??!
  19. And what an awesome backdrop for the picture!
  20. Roads sucked, but had the river all to myself, nice & peaceful. 7x and small midges were the ticket- fished the catch & release area at the dead end.
  21. Thanks to all for the info- can't wait to hit it when it warms up a little.
  22. WOW... Just "slightly" bigger than the ones I caught this morning, ha!
  23. Anyone know what the process is for requesting changes- such as no wake zones? Our docks are in back of a popular wakeboarding cove and they get pounded. Additionally it can be argued that shallow water and dock anchors pose a threat to boats.
  24. I was looking at that- It sounds like there is a pullout at Marshal's ford- is it OK to leave a pickup vehicle there overnight? We were planning on camping on a gravel bar, just didn't know if there was someplace we should look specifically. Lastly, how much water is needed to float Marbel to Marshal's ford- can it be based on the Berryville gauge?? Thanks-
