  1. Very nice!
  2. I saw a few in Cabela's bargain den- might be worth a look.
  3. I tried the WE today with no luck- fishing downstream from the bridge. Also talked to someone leaving the hole referenced above- they didn't have any luck either.
  4. Nice fish Stump- hoping to get out soon... your fish ads to the motivation
  5. x2... I was doing some research earlier in the year, but never pulled the trigger. Was also considering making some myself, looks like they should be easy to make.
  6. After taking some time to reflect, I think I should have spent more time working craw/ tube baits in the deeper holes. I'm fairly new to smallmouth fishing in the creeks but I'm all ears if I should try a different bait or technique next time!
  7. The last time we fished(and caught larger fish) the water was ~ 2ft higher. This weekend we caught most on a Ned rig below shoals. Also tried walking the dog, buzz baits, and flukes. Had a few blow up on buzz baits but totally miss the bait. Also used the fly rod with wooly buggers, craw, and minnow patterns. Buddy Fished with jerk baits, small spinners and rebel craw.
  8. Had a great weekend, weather was perfect, water had a slight stain and the level was just low enough to hit a couple rocks but never needing to drag the kayaks. Caught ~70 over the weekend between the two of us. Nothing of any size- most were <10" with a couple of 13" fish being the biggest. This really surprised me, as my previous trips the fish averaged 12-14" with a few > 16". We fished Kelly's to Yellville (first time for this float) so didn't know if that was the norm for this stretch, or the larger fish just eluded us.

    Reports

I'm sorry F&F has left, I always appreciated his advice and opinions. I'm still relatively new to the forum, and I admittedly do "lurk" at times, but I also try to post reports if I have anything that is worthy. This site is a great resource, and while it may be abused by some at times, I have to believe the good far outweighs the bad. It may sound strange, but I sometimes live vicariously through the members, especially when I'm not able to get out. I also enjoy learning what's working & what's not, so when I do get out I can use knowledge gained through posts to hopefully have a better chance. I'm personally not looking for specifics, but patterns that I can use during similar situations. I've went back years and read reports and tutorials- thank you all that have contributed. I know some have come on the site, asked for advise, then never came back and posted their results- shame on them...but how do you determine who that is going to be- we were all first time posters once. I don't know how you would filter reports- if it's public domaine then we can't really gripe when someone uses the information provided. I've made a commitment to try to get out of the house more and enjoy the resources of this beautiful state; more fishing and hunting than sitting and dreaming. I'll keep reading (and learning) as much as I can and posting ( keeping it a little more vauge) when I get out.
  10. Come on cool weather!
  11. Guessing this was 7-20, or a delayed report Floated the river for the first time over the weekend- Marbel to Marshall really enjoyed it (other than its way to much to fish in one day). I went back Sunday and talked to kings river outfitters about their services, went to Rockhouse and waded until the crowds became too much. Saw lots of good fish, but they were real spooky. I plan on going back with the FlyRod one evening during the week when the traffic is lighter.
  12. Floated Marbel to Marshall Ford- water was as low as I would ever want to float that stretch. Had to drag a few spots, also banged a few rocks along the way. Could really have used some more current, as it was non existent through many of the holes. We knew the float was more than we wanted to fish in one day, so we anticipated some paddling but the lack of current really sucked! We fished the first third pretty hard, caught lots of smallmouth- nothing larger than 13-14". Work started when we started covering some water for the remaining miles! Scenery is awesome, some great bluffs that you float up to, and under in some spots. Lots of fish. River can get tricky with all the trees in the water so some care is needed. Will definitely do again- but make it a two day float. Also waded around Rockhouse Sunday, and saw a lot of nice fish, caught a few. Lots more water- a lot clearer. Gave up when all the floaters started coming by. Would like to hit this area again during the week when there is les traffic and the fish aren't as spooked.
  13. OU was invited to the SEC in 2012 when A&M and MO left the BIG XII - but OU and OSU are a package deal. IMO anything over 12 teams in a conference is too big. A&M entered the SEC in 2012, Georgia won't play at Kyle field until 2024.
  14. That's great news! I was very concerned that all the hot water would be devastating to the trout in the river.
  15. WOW! What would cause such a concentration?
  16. Had a Great float this weekend. AMAZING weather for the last of June. A little rain hit the area on Friday / Friday night, so we had rising water on Saturday 6/27. Kelly's crossing showed 12.2 Friday and it rose to ~12.55 on Saturday by about 1:00 or so then started dropping. Because of the flow, we floated Snow to Kelly's. Creek had a murky stain and was flowing well. Quite a few rapids along the way (more than I expected) So much so saw a fellow fisherman / kayaker take a spill over one stretch. Fishing was good- a buddy and I caught ~20 a piece, 2/3 small mouth with about 1/2 in the 12-16" range. Also caught a few rock bass, goggle eye and punkin seeds. The smallies in this creek have an attitude! We did really well on the rising water, but as things leveled off and started to drop we did not have as much luck. So many spots we had to float by because of the flow, and no real place to stop when you are battling current and trees. Sunday the water was on the drop the entire way. Water was stained, but clearing. Flow was less, water was down 3-4 inches but it made a big difference- was at ~1000cfs, down from 1100 or so the day before. So I would say about 10% less flow . Fishing was tougher, caught about 15 a piece, but more punkin seeds and smaller small mouth. Definitely a harder time fishing on the drop. If anyone has some advice I/m all ears! Most nice fish caught Saturday were on a rebel craw pulling it down current. Also caught a few on the NED and jerk baits. Could not get anything on top water, flukes, or soft craws. Did catch a few punkin seeds on a wart. Great time- "I'll be back"
  17. Im floating CC this weekend so I was re-reading some older posts- Its been over a year and I am wondering if anything was ever resolved with this?
  18. Just got around to looking at some of the video I took. This is one of the nicer ones from the trip.
  19. Had a great trip. Fishing was ok, but really enjoyed the river. Floated Buffalo point to Rush Sunday only saw 2 groups of people. Water was stained and flowing well. Only caught 1/2 dozed smallmouth, with a nice 18"er. Fished sexy dawg jr and "the rig" Monday floated Maumee North to Buffalo Point. Water was still stained but flow was slower. This part of the river was much more crowded. Not much time passed between floaters. Had the best luck fishing deep holes with Ned at the end of a long riffles. Caught 6 in 15 minutes in one hole, the nicest was about 15". Caught 10 and one goggle eye.
  20. I know this year's releases haven't been crazy, but they always get me thinking about how it effects the fish ( especially trout) in the river. I am sure they just "hunker down" and ride it out, but at what point is it too much for them to handle? Does the increareased water temperature affect them? I'm curious how the fishing was after the big releases in 2004 & 2008 and if it takes a while for the river to bounce back, or shortly after is it like nothing ever happened?
  21. A buddy and I are heading to the river tomorrow with our kayaks to try to find some smallmouth. Couldn't say no to a air conditioned camper, so we are staying at Buffalo Point, but we are open to fishing any good stretches. Any advice on areas that should be productive right now? I'll have the usual tubes, craws, flukes, spinners and top waters, but are there Any baits / colors I shouldn't be without? I'll have both fly and casting gear. I also plan on throwing a Ned quite a bit. Look forward to a great time, and I will post a report once we get back.
  22. Lots of debris in the back of PC
  23. it has generation schedules under swpa fcst- don't think it shows other release schedules except realtime river level.
  24. Not all the walleye are heading towards the dam (at least not yet). A 23" inch 5lb'r was caught near the back of PC this weekend.
