It seems like I read these are set up on the TFO Pro blanks, which are a great all around moderate-fast rod. I would say you can't go wrong.

I've owned an SLV, a Vashoon, and a Helios. All of them use bearings which make the real very smooth (more moving parts though) but the drag systems were decent. The drag adjustment knobs on the Vashon and SLV were a little difficult to operate with cold hands but I think those are the only two reels that use that specific design.

You can find the Lamson Radius reels all over ebay brand new for around $130. I just bought one for my 8wt, and I am very impressed by the fit and finish/feel/weight/drag etc. This reel is fully machined (to me that doesn't really matter though). The Konic would be good to, but you can get a radius for the same price right now (they are discontinued).

I just bought one of these for a 5wt, trying to buy a U.S. made piece of gear once in a while (not always possible for me due to price)but this is a domestic reel in the $100 range. Not the best refinement but a really decent drag, good fit/tolerances and unique anodized/powder coated finish. They have some higher end models but this model is cast, not machined. I am anxious to use it. The "platinum" is actually a wierd "off white" color I have never seen on a reel before. It also comes with a reel pouch and lifetime warranty. There is a seller on Ebay called theflyfishingshop sells them for $80. typical of what I notice everywhere I go. I guess it is important to value folks that have common sense and respect for others. I hate to be negative but sometimes people suck and I agree many times need to be taught a lesson, especially about outdoor ethics. I get so tired of the things I see at my local lake.

Last year Kansas Wildlife and Parks (or core of engineers, not sure which one) shut down the Outlet Area at Clinton Lake state park because they were sick of the violations, good for them. I am not sure how long it was shut down, but I believe it was more than a few weeks. I am to the point that I say things to people all the time now at my local fishing lake (Leavenworth State Fishing Lake, aka "Tongi Lake"). I am just sick of the littering, stupidity, and poaching.

I heard about this place then caught it on an episode of Diners, Drive ins, and Dives. They are known for their fried carp. It looks good. I am going to locate the place next time I am up there. www.joetessplace.com

alot of the felt soles I have seen are glued on, hence the felt sole replacement kits that are available, however they are stitched to the shoe on my Simms L2s

I am heading down Thursday and Friday (Nixa and Hollister) on business so I will probably stay Saturday as well, then coming back down 16th-18th just for fishing.

Has anyone seen or heard of a manufacturer coming out with kits to replace felt soles with Vibram? I am assuming that I will just have to replace my boots at some point (if they get outlawed in MO and Ark)
