  1. I've caught several walleye in the past several weeks across from Indian Point Marina. Trolling cranks in 15 to 20 feet of water, with the cranks usually running 12 to 15 feet deep. And this is in the area of 10amish or so, give or take. So they have been a bit shallower than I had expected for this time of year.
  2. Hmm... cloudy day... raining... Well darn, no power for the boat lift....

I live across from Indian Point Marina, and went down to the dock (around 7pmish) for a short bit last night to prep my boat for a Monday morning outing. The waves coming into the cove were the biggest I have seen in a long time. Usually the dock is pretty stable, even with bigger waves, but it was really rocking up and down last night.

Not "quite" as many idiots out on Monday-Thurs, so that's a better time to get out... except for next week. I won't go out on the weekends until after Labor Day. Way too may crazies out there.
  5. haven't tried them, but would the Big TRD's work instead of (or in addition to) the ZinkerZs?
  6. Try uploading the pics to a site (like Imgur), and then link from there.
  7. I've been out several times this past week... on a weekday... and at 7am there are already tubers and waterskiers out in force
  8. I also found walleye in water under 20 feet. One short, and one 22", 3.25ib beauty. Both in the Indian Point area, trolling shad color cranks. Also found a lone 15" white bass in the same area.

  10. No real surprise, with all the water that rushed down from the Roaring River Trout Park from the rains. Bound to be a few more swimming around.
  11. According to a post in another thread... as of May 15 the North ramp "was" open. But with the lake rising again, who knows.
  12. Still 11 feet over pool as of 5/13. Dropping somewhere around 6" every day and a half? (appears to fluctuate a bit). So mid-June or so to get back to normal pool? depending on what Mother Nature decides to throw at us.
  13. The Corps has halved the amount of water being released. Now down to 5500 cfs. Springfield area received quite a bit today, which means more water coming down the James again.
  14. Corps has cut the discharge down to under 6000 cfs. Lake was going down an average of 6" per day for a few days, but has slowed considerably now.
  15. Because they literally can't. The factors discussed in that link prevent the Corp from doing that, even if the math says different. May sound stupid, but it's the truth. But in the Corps defense, they have done something like that... back in 2010 or 2011 (forget)? The Corp released water from the Missouri river reservoirs, in order to make room for the spring meltwater. We all remember what happened then... the Missouri flooded major areas of NE, IA and MO. I-29 north and south of Council Bluffs, IA was closed for weeks. The gov't paid out a ton of money for that issue, both in repairs to roads and levees, and in damages to farmers.
  16. There was a link in another thread about this. There are a lot of issues the Corp has to take into account. Among which (but not the only) is power generation. Vernon and RPS both have some insights on page 15 of the "Lake elevations" thread. Plus this link that one of them had posted there.... http://www.swl-wc.usace.army.mil/pages/docs/WR_FAQ.htm
  17. There was a lot of water coming down the James, probably why they closed Cape Fair. They still had flood warnings until saturday in some spots to the north.
  18. Lake levels did a turnaround this afternoon, Slowly (Very slowly) rising again. A lot of water coming down the James in the next couple days.
  19. Going to be at least a week before I can even get to my boat The water where the actual walkway begins is almost 10 feet deep.
  20. Depends on how widespread the rain is. Only an inch or two forecast locally. But if areas to the north get alot, or areas south, including Beaver, we could see the lake rise again. By the time the rain is forecast to start, the lake level should be around 931 or a bit lower.
  21. Well a small good sign... lake level has been slowwwllllly droppping for the past few hours. Not that it may matter much... more rain coming Wednesday.
  22. As of right now... I seriously doubt it. The parking lot is probably under water. For the next few days you probably wont find an open ramp unless it's one that is really steep or very long, like Cow Creek.
  23. And it actually dropped between 2pm and 3pm...
  24. I think the logic for 917, is so they have enough water to run optimal power generation during the winter. If the lake gets too low during the winter, they cant run as much water thru for power.
  25. Even assuming you can find a ramp that's still above water at this point.
