  1. I agree completely and also come from a motocross/hare scramble background. Most graphics you buy for a bike already have the "sponsors" on it. Heck whenever fox went mainstream everyone became a motocrosser! And for the jersey talk, a lot of these guys win their jerseys at tournaments and banquets, not all of them buy them to "look" the part. Granted there are always gonna be the people with money falling out of their pockets that will have custom jerseys and wraps made just to fish in a small time tournament but for the most part I think a lot of guys are just proud to be a competitive fisherman.
  2. Thanks for the video! I like how you simplified it and made it a little easier to understand, I've been meaning to learn to fish deeper in open water but just never really understood what I was supposed to do. Gonna try and use what I learned next chance i get out on the water!
  3. I was out today in the Cape Fair area. Saw 2 other boats all day. I only managed one fish but he was a keeper. Probably would have went close to 3 lbs. I really didn't get that cold but I was layered up pretty good. Worst part was running down the lake, but a pair of thick gloves and motocross goggles helped a lot! Caught the fish on a Jerkbait in some timber about 30 foot of water. I tried to learn to deep fish with the spoon but ended up loosing 2 of them so went back to the jerkbait and alabama rig haha.
  4. This is awesome, you will make some young, less fortunate kid very happy! I'm not asking for the tackle, as I have built up enough over the past several years but this sport needs more people like you! This is coming from a 29 year old who grew up with no one to really teach me much of anything. My parents always worked and neither of them are much of an "outdoorsmen". I have finally been able to purchase my first boat this past year and am hoping to join a club soon to meet a few people that will be willing to teach me a thing or two, most of what I have learned has been from reading or watching videos or just getting out and fishing! I don't have any friends that enjoy fishing like i do, so I am usually by myself. Sorry to make this post about me but just wanted to say that people like me really look up to people like you! Thank you!
  5. Figured I'd give a report on my fishing today. I put in at RB ramp, up by the dam this morning and fished the coves there till about 9, bites were few and far between, throwing spinnerbaits, buzz baits, square bills, and a swim jig. No bites on the swim jig, most came on the buzzbaits and square bills early morning. Ran over to the cove closer to the dam and got bit on the buzzbait and spinnerbait a couple times each, where i caught my first keeper, about 2 lbs. about 10 I ran over to the very back of the Orleans Trail coves and started catching them more consistently on a spinnerbait, boating several 2 to 2.5 lbers. Most came very shallow and noticed that my bites were more consistent when throwing in the shaded areas. Fought what looked like at least 4 lber for a good fight but when i got him close to the boat i could see he was barely hooked so i grabbed the net and when i got ready to net him he changed directions rather fast and I watched him free himself. Needless to say i was sick to my stomach and mad at myself for a few minutes lol. It happens, Anyways, Fished there for a wile longer, boating a few more 2 lbers or so then decided to run over to Price Branch for rest of the day. IT WAS WINDY OVER THERE! haha. Still I was only having luck on the Spinnerbait, again mostly in the shadows back in the pockets, with a few running the spinnerbait close to stick ups. In one of the good sided pockets i decided to throw a football jig out in the middle and on the 2nd cast caught i a nice 3.5 lber, but that was the only bite i would get on the football jig rest of the day. I finished the day up at about 3 and probably would have had 12-13 lbs on a five fish stringer. Not too bad of a day I don't guess but it was work fighting that wind in my 17 footer with only a 43 lb trolling motor.
  6. I Feel the same way as you. Someone pulls up on me, bring it on! I'll do my damnedest to out fish you. If i have a spot I'm headed to and your already fishing there, I'm still going to pull in especially if i'm in a tournament. I'll give ya plenty of casting distance between us but if i know fish are there or have been there i'm not going to pass it up. And i'm just fine with someone doing the same to me, so long as you give me the same respect. To the guy talking about throwing rocks and open carrying, That's the kind of talk and attitude that will get you shot. Do you realize how many people conceal carry? I've seen tons of people who look like they would never own a gun that conceal carry. You make threats like that and someones liable to pull on you first, just saying. Start throwing rocks at my boat that i work my butt off to pay for you'll have a lawsuit on your hands and the police after you. I'll beach it or throw an anchor and swim to shore to get license plate numbers if i have to!
  7. Pretty much the same pattern i was on Sunday the 5th. I didn't get that many keepers though. I tried Googer? creek (the one right across the lake from Mutton Creek) first with no luck on topwater baits, Then ran to Greaser creek and caught several shorts on the spinnerbait watched a huge one jump right in front of the boat but couldn't get him caught, After I thoroughly fished Greaser I hit some coves over by chicken rock and caught a few more dinks. By then the wind had me beat around 2 so I headed back to the ramp.
  8. yes i have insurance, I wouldn't wanna be without it! If you don't have insurance i personally feel thats just being careless and selfish! I imagine he is saying insurance is a must because of the TON of timber on that lake.
  9. How much is it to enter? I was wanting to fish the Tournament of Champions that weekend but haven't been able to find a partner and can't afford the entry fee by myself. I mean all i have is a 17'er and not much experience on that lake but if it means giving back to our vets then I'd be happy to if i can afford it.
  10. We fished a tourney the 27th out of Hartley and actually did pretty good! Morning it was buzzbaits, spooks, and squarebills around standing timber in the creeks, then brush piles and ledges with worms/jigs rest of the day. Had 10lbs 3oz and finished second place.
  11. Well to start off my name is Brandon, and i have a fishing "problem". lol. I am mostly a bass fisherman but love to catch all species especially them delicious crappie! The lakes I fish normally are Stockton and Table Rock. Been trying out Pomme lately with some pretty bad luck. Love to fish Bull Shoals when i can make it down that way, or up to Truman for the catfish. I've been reading on this forum for a little wile now and decided I should probably join!
