  1. Took a trip to unger saturday and fished for 4 hours. never realized how shallow the lake was, only 5.0' average depth and surface water temp was 66 degrees. Anyways me and my buddy failed. I probably won't make another trip there unless I can get my confidence up.
  2. also not 18 you have to be 18 to rent a boat there
  3. darn just missed that winter time where I could do it. Just put a new tiller handle on the engine and wanted to test speed
  4. less than an hour drive as far as the lake goes (since im a highschooler and its alot of cash to fill up the 7.3)
  5. First of all is it safe? I have a 14' jon with a trolling motor that moves it along pretty good. I was thinking about putting in at valley park, or route 66 state park. Wondering if fishing would be good this weekend. If not does anyone know and lakes that are good around stl that I could put my jon in?
  6. I just bought a new yak my first one ever. Its an Old Town trip 10 dlx. Its a great sit in fishing kayak in my opinion and I got it for $250. Basically a $600 kayak that was used twice. Anyways ive used it a handful of times at palisades and route 66. I can't seem to catch a break I know fishing in the winter is a grind for any fish but I figured by now I would have hooked into one. Been trying the deep holes and throwing all different types of baits, float and fly, jerkbait, jig, tubes, regular hair jigs just jigging them still nothing. Brush piles and deep rip rap. I just wanna hook something I don't even care if its a smallie at this point (smallie would be preferable.) Any tips on where I can go thats not frozen. Not asking for anyone's honey holes just somewhere I have a decent chance in hooking one. Thanks, Gabriel
  7. Idk man all I know is im itching to get out and all my normal spots are froze up. Can't hit coffeen until i get my boat engine fixed because ive been struggling for months trying to figure out whats wrong with it. Hard knock life having a 1969 evinrude 18hp. They want $75 just to look at it down at brannans in Fenton. I would love to buy a new 4 stroke engine even though this one used to run great. Its still clean as a whistle inside and it truly is a price of history now lol. I just don't like having a 2 cycle the emissions bother me.
  8. Mostly talking about fishing mud bottom farm ponds not sure if this changes anything just waiting for a week plus of below freezing weather
  9. Live in the stl area and im wanting to try my luck at ice fishing. Im 17 and weigh about 140 pounds. I know a few spots where I know I could put a hurtin on big green sunfish and probably some bass too. obviously im new to this and I want to give it a shot. I know little to nothing about it, baits to use, line size, rod/reel, ect. I also do not have an auger do i need one to ice fish in Missouri, is there anything i can use that I already have in my garage or workshop? I have read safe ice thickness should be about 6" at the bank and you are supposed to drill a hole every 10' or so to make sure the ice is still thick, but thick is a very broad term. Please help me out. Not new to fishing but I am very new to ice fishing. I know with the 60 degree weather we are having this week (wtf is going on with the weather) most of the lakes/ponds around the area will loose some if not all of their ice. Thanks, Gabriel

  11. Just now reading this and you might have some issues with another fisherman invading your spots lol.
  12. I live in Webster and i have a 14' jon, are there any good fisheries that are mid to small size lakes within 2 hours of me? I usually travel to Illinois and fish some of the power plant lakes over there but i am wondering if i could find any good places in Missouri.
  13. I decided to scratch the whole idea. I am taking a float trip on upper Meramec this weekend. Might try to fish closer to STL in a kayak if I get a chance.
  14. I would fish if I had access to a bass boat, or access to fish as a co angler. A 14' jon won't cut it on LOZ.
