  1. I agree Al, but doesnt the lack of prefishing add to the idea of who has the goods?
  2. For the tourney anglers out there, does the MLF format interest you? If so, which of the following would be more stressfUl? No Practice, Realtime Scoring, or the Penalties when a fish hits the deck? I love the format, and the quality of anglers that fish it. With the added difficulty of having a judge in every boat, is there a chance other clubs will change to this format in the future? Looking at it from a fish health aspect, its a great way to go, and really reduces the stress and overall negative affects on the fish. In our home, we watch it as a family. The 4 of us pick an angler at the beginning of the show, and its almost as good as watching the Superbowl seeing the kids get into it.
  3. This works. Were there twice last week and did as described and caught several short eyes, nothing with any size.
  4. Welcome. A few guys from Ozark on here. Where do ya fish the most? You boat it, or shoreman?
  5. I understand gibberish. Been around these things "boats" many years, so gibberish is in my vocabulary. I just pushed it as far forward as i can without pinching the cables, and have roughly 3 1/2 inches of space on the back end. Looks like i can center it in the tray and be away from the cables and heel on the back. I just installed this new MinnKota, coming from a MG, and maybe its just me, but pretty sure the foot pedal on this new unit is smaller than my other 8 year old model MG. Ive looked at pictures of trays in boats and see the older pedals in pictures in trays and it takes up the whole tray. Mine has lots of room front to back (reletive to the space) and side to side compared to the older units. No matter what happens, the hole is cut, tray is mounted, and it took the clutter off the deck, so im a happy camper......or fisherman. On a side note, a trolling motor with a reverse would be on my X-Mas list. Maybe Santa can build a test model, and i be the tester.
  6. There is a built in drain hole in the bottom. The attached drain line that comes with it is ran under the floor to drain. In my case having an aluminum boat, the center rib was centered under the tray, so i layed the drain line in that rib, which run to the rear of the boat.
  7. That was a worry i had. Not getting full motion from the pedal. Has anyone tried adjusting the cables underneath the pedal to make the rotation tighter, for less from pedal and rotates shaft more? I will look at mine this evening to see if its possible. I really like the look of it recessed, and the lack of clutter. As of now i can scoot the pedal about 2" more forward than it sits now.
  8. Another way to use down/side scan while fishing. http://wired2fish.scout.com/story/1550033-angler-discovers-submerged-car-body-inside?s=537
  9. Good point. I havent screwed it down yet. Im gonna take it out and see what position feels the best, mark holes while on the water, then fasten when i get home. Just standing on the deck while its in the garage is a total difference. Thats what i hear, and why i decided to grab this from D. 8 hours at a time, not sitting at all during a normal day on the water for many years has given me what i call "fishermans body", where everything including my toes hurt.
  10. One of my favorite past times for the last 15 years. Go to a busy lake with a busy ramp on 4th of July wknd, take a lawn chair, set it up within sight of the ramp, plop your butt down with an ice chest next to ya, and enjoy the show. I know withhout a doubt it has to be something everyone should do atleast once a year.
  11. Yes it does. Deck looks less cluttered now, even with the Humminbird stashed in the corner.
  12. Met with Dprice today and picked up the recessed tray. After getting what i needed out of my work trailer, 30 minutes later it was finished, including vacuuming the carpet. They say it will help with back/shoulder issues as far as cramping, etc. Now come on Saturday so i can try it out. Thanks again D.
  13. Yep, spinning. Had other baits tied on my casting stuff, and nothing on the spinning. Kids were throwing wacky worms on spinning tackle and line was twisted already. Instead of putting boat in gear, letting line out with nothing attached, and driving to fix it, and with the fish hitting the Spook so well, i thought i would stick it on something as a "curosity" to see if they would eat this bait as well. Yea I know, not the correct setup for this bait, wind was wrong, boat pointed in wrong direction, wasnt trowing a Ned as a trailer on the topwater, but hey, pictures speak volumes. Next trip i will try it on the ultra light and see how that goes, then on to the fly gear. That sucker should hummmm on the end of a fly rod with the weight it has behind it.
  14. Got some serious line twist between that and the Spook. The ol' snappy swivel took care of that. Its one is those "go to" oldies when all else fails. Yes this thing makes some noise chuggin across the water. If it doesnt entice them to bite, it will scare them into the next county.

    Top water

Just got in from Ruark. Top water bite was on. You can see my post under "jolicious"
  16. Thought I share a few pics with ya from my outing this evening. We fished Stockton. Put in at 6:30 and fished til 9:00. Started out throwing a jig, caught a few small fish. Then threw a Zara Spook catching a few on it, Decided to throw that "rainbow" topwater of yours, and caught 7 on it, missing atleast that many. Between the Mrs. and i we caught roughly 17 in 2 hours. The top water bite was on. Pictures are of different fish, including a 15" and 16 1/2" chunk. and notice the 17" white that took the "rainbow".
  17. Im not saying it wasnt 8.5lbs, but if so, its looks awful little for being that size fish. Or maybe my eyes are gettin the better of me. Good fish either way.
  18. See, now with the system i have at home, when i heard what he heard, i would have been watching my phone, from my car, live. Yep, i can run pretty fast.
  19. In todays troubled times, we may have to keep an "eye" out at all times, even while not around our vehicles. One way is to place a camera, like a GoPro that will record at length, placed inside the vehicle looking outward, while we fish, hunt, trap, etc. Prefer it to be placed facing in a direction that would get license plates. At my house, i have a system setup that i can turn on/off, watch live, and watch recorded data all from my phone. Yep, video security systems on our vehicles will be the "new" gadget soon.
  20. Good info J. Here in Mo. the Sheriffs Dept. handles all non water activities in the county. Its the job of the State Troopers, Water Patrol division to handle on the water incidents. They can pass the info on to the Patrol, but have no means of enforcing water activities. Noticed Water Patrol out around Cape Fair yesterday. Good to see since the once a year boaters were coming out in force.
  21. Talking is free. Stop by or call Matt at Dynaprop. They service all boats and do warranty work for Merc. Lots of happy customers from that place. They are west of Reeds Spring towards Cape Fair.
  22. Hey Hunter. Look thru the Pomme section. Ive posted a few things on the lake. If you need other info after reading, let me know. I fish it alot.
  23. Well in that case, i will fish behind ya and pick up the ones you loose. Thanks and i will put it to use tomorrow morning.
  24. I do that also. Just found the video interesting and may try it when the water starts to boil in August.
