  1. Sorry for the late reply. Glo balls and midges were doing great, and from his pictures looks like some decent size fish.
  2. So wish I had better news. I got down this morning around 6. Water was off, but bite was really slow and soft... Around 715 they went to 2 units which is still wadable. Around 930 they went to 4 units... So the outlet holes are super crowded as that's about the only place to fish.
  3. I just got in tonight and just left the trophy area at 11pm. Water is dropping and has dropped from the looks of it pretty recently. The gravel is exposed by outlet 1, It it still is a bit high for anything other than maybe wading along the bank. I'll be back in the morning and fingers crossed we may have a bit more area to spread out around the outlets. Thanks for the update and info Phil, plan to stop in and pick up sine shirts and jigs, and of course take another swing at fishing that dock.
  4. Wow, although I never like to hear of problems or potential impact to businesses downstream, I am assuming we will have some nice wadeable fishing up in the trophy area this weekend?
  5. My buddy said stream is up and a bit muddy but otherwise okay and fishable. I'll try to get a more detailed report out of him for ya if I can get ahold of him.
  6. HAHA! Thanks for sharing Phil. Bout had soda come out my nose... I can barely cast sometimes while standing stationary much less with boat docks, dag, and trolling motor business going on with my feet LOL. Respect to those skills!
  7. You can, but its mostly just dropping your flies in at the mouth of the outlet and letting them flow naturally out into the current. I mostly jig fish around them so I can cast a bit farther out, and try to stay out of the congregation of guys all drifting by the outlet opening. Especially if the water is up and moving. There is a hole past the restrooms down by the wire cable that you can sometimes get to it even with the water up... but not sure how what it will be like with all the flow they have been generating. It can get a bit deep on that end so be careful if you try to venture out. Landed some nice fish down there my last time out, but we were in well over our waist deep water. Good luck, maybe I'll see ya down there. Plan on fishing every day starting around 5:30 or 6 in the morning. Friday through Sunday.
  8. Anyone have a quick link or some info on Crane Creek? I am heading down this weekend as well. How's the dock fishing been Phil? May try that to avoid the zoo at the outlets. Thanks as always for the info too!
  9. Dependant on the amount of flow they are letting out of TR. Phil does an amazing job of keeping us in the loop with what the COE is planning. I know on my trip down there last month when I arrived the flood gates were open on that Saturday (basically no area to wade or even get in the water) and they closed them on Sunday, and by Tuesday morning I could walk across Taney again after they closed them. Even with 1 or 2 generators going there are usually a few areas to wade by the outlets if you get there early before too many folks get down there. I try to avoid the outlets as it can get pretty boring fishing the same spots over and over, but they do produce allot of fish on the lines. Some of the creek mouths are wadeable too if the water is up. Never been down to those, but I'm sure others can put you on them. Worse case if water is way high and flow is turned up grab a boat from Phil's and do some drift fishing!
  10. Nice pics and fish! Thanks for sharing.
  11. From what I saw yesterday and this morning. It's pretty flooded right now. Whistle bridge yesterday I believe was under water. Water was flowing over the dam almost directly into the stream below. A good 5 feet or more above where you usually stand on the apron. The live cam is showing the main bridge in which I never thought I'd see the water that high...
  12. Thanks for the reports guys! Nice fish. Love seeing those Browns.
  13. Rain rain go away I really want to be able to wade! LOL Heading back down to Taney in 2 weeks. Hopefully everything can get nice and settled down and back to a regular generation schedule maybe?
  14. Yeah all fishing with the rod tip this weekend. Usually I would barely even feel them on the rod as light as they were hitting. Only had a few good smacks all day. I would get a medium to fast rythm going on the jig, then just watch my line bounce. As soon as the bounce rythm on the line changed I'd do a quick snap up for the hook set. At that point I'd either be snagged on the bottom or have a fish on LOL. I alternated all day between fast and slow depending on the drift. Tried drifting a few micro jigs as well and a San Juan Worm with nothing to show for it... Glad you were able to land some.
  15. Made it down for a little fishing this weekend. Needed to make sure the camper wasn't swept away in the Monsoons that have been occurring lately... Started out early at the whistle on Saturday and found the river muddy and running very high as others have reported. Sorry no pics this report... Fish were on the small size and nothing to write home about. The rains Friday night turned the spring to the consistency of chocolate milk. Visibility was less than a foot. Started out in Zone 1 by the Bench by the dam. Caught one small stocker and that was it. We moved down river and I finally started catching fish consistently down right before the bluffs. The bite was soft and honestly with how fast the water was moving there were times I didn't even feel them on the line coming out of the current. Missed a ton, but still managed to snag around a dozen bouncing heavy jigs off the bottom on Saturday. Sunday I hit the water a little later. Same as Saturday spring was still murky and moving fast. Put in down by the bluffs and started working my way back towards the bridge. It was extremely slow going with the high fast water, slicker than snot rocks, and not being able to see your feet... I only caught 5 fish all under 12 inches in about 2 hours. My ankles and knees were sore, and I decided to wrap it up and head back early. Hopefully things clear out and the rain stays away. The fish are there, just have to work a bit harder to find and catch them. Caught all fish on 1/8oz jigs in a Sculpin pattern with Orange head, a Mottled Grey pattern, and the old faithful Olive woolly bugger. The majority were on the Sculpin Orange head I picked up at Phil's place 2 weeks ago.(Thanks Phil these jigs are well made and worked great!) Good luck out there! JestersHK
  16. Wow, there's going to be some huge lunkers in there if they keep this up. Some of the fish I caught last week were already looking like fat little football's...
  17. Thanks for the comments guys. Ham I totally agree, and the rubber nets are great for the fish as well as not getting your line and lures tangled too. When possible I try to not even net the fish and just pop them off. For the pics I literally keep them in the water and as close to the water as possible until I'm ready to snap a pic and handle them with care.
  18. Nice Fish! Sounded like you guys were slaying them.
  19. My Tany trip has come and gone. Had some amazing mornings of fishing. Caught some really nice bows and 3 Browns as well. A bit worried when I arrived on Saturday night to find the flood gates still open. Luckily they closed up and for each morning I could head out for a few hours and wade fish with some pretty good results down in the trophy area. I also got to meet Phil on my last day fishing. Finally got to fish his dock too (took a while but I did finally catch one small stocker... def not ready for One Cast LOL). Thanks again Phil for the time, it was a pleasure meeting you! For the trip report I only caught fish on a couple different things. The old tried and true olive drab wooly bugger with a gold head, and some sculpin pattern jigs with orange heads. Also picked up fish drifting a San Juan worm and of course the scuds were landing them. Here is a few pics. wish there were more, but they are usually an afterthought. Thanks to the 2 kind fishermen who took some pics for me if you are on here. All fish were released unharmed Most mornings started like this. Lots of fog Finally the sun would pop up My first Brown of the season Close Up of above fish And another brown in the water... wish I would of gotten a better pic this fish was beautiful. Onto some bows. My BIL had a few nice ones as well. I also have my new PB Rainbow on my last day on my 3rd cast of the morning... PB and 2nd PB Rainbows Good luck out there. JestersHK

  21. Phil do you think that will be a pattern there where they will turn it off at night then back on in the morning? I was finally able to wade out and get away from the outlets a bit without getting water logged this morning and caught some beautiful fish. Thanks,
  22. 2 units still flowing. Just got out of the water. Fish were hitting sculpin jigs and san juan worms still pretty good.
  23. I finally made it down... Fished the outlets a bit, and landed my first Brown of the season and 3 smaller rainbows jigging an olive drab maribou down from outlet 1. My BIL landed a couple nice rainbows on a San Juan worm. Heading back out today, and going to head up to Phils to see a man about a boat! Good fishing but water is still moving fast.
  24. Awesome trip! Also on my bucket list. Thanks for sharing, loved the story.
  25. Thanks Phil, Heading down Sunday for the week. Will stop in for sure (would love to get my hands on some of those sculpin jigs) and working on the details with my brother-in-law on what day or days we want to rent a boat. Thanks again for all the updates! Helps us northern guys out when it comes to planning. JestersHK
