  1. I took a screenshot of Babler's advice so I can reference when the time is right. He just gave a wealth of information for free folks. Thanks for the help Bill. I feel like I owe you some money. Ha I saved it to my desktop so I can buy the lures he mentioned. I appreciate all the advice. I took a crap ton of different ned rigs but want a few more options this year.
  2. Champ, you are correct as it was def on us last year. I've learned a whole lot more over the year and may head out for a day to the main lake. River fishing is just fun for us. We throw noodles out for the kitties while bobbing in the water ourselves with a cold one. I threw right up on the bank last yr. with all kinds on ned rigs and dragged em back out to the boat. That was prolly our problem. Down here in TX the big uns build those beds right up on the bank and you can basically cast parallel to the bank line for the best LM bite. From what you say, we were just too shallow. And boy howdy, we are used to some clear water (I'm in Austin but raised in MS) but not that clear and deep. That threw us off a bit. I looked at the place we are staying this year and that is by Arrow Point. It seems that the river it much wider there than all the way down to Berryville. To be clear we didn't fish down by Berryville but not as close to Arrow point if I have my directions right. Any of you fished the Kings around Arrow Point?
  3. OK...great info! My brother lives in Berryville and we stayed out on the main lake last year and didn't do too well. He suggested Hickory Hollow because it is close to his house, etc. We are not looking for trophy large mouth but more of a fun experience river fishing. We spent many summers on the Gasconade River so we know small bodies of water. I reckon we would be happy catching some smallies, crappie, etc. I simply didn't know when to come but it looks like anytime in April is good. My bro says the same thing you guys say, it all depends on the weather. I am shooting for last week in April and hopefully we do better this year. I have all the shakeys and senkos from last year so I should be good. Its more for us guys to get together and tell lies than fishing really but thought I would ask the pros. Thanks guys!
  4. I am trying to nail down about when the spawn is on the Kings River near Berryville AR. My brothers and I are planning a trip to Hickory Hollow resort for either late April or early May. I know it depends on the water temps reaching around 55. Is their a "typical" annual time that you all have seen over the years. We are in TX so trying to read up on everything we can. Last year we stayed on Tablerock 2nd week of May and didn't have good luck. We now want to river fish so I need you guy's advice. Thanks! tight lines
