  1. J-Doc your not paid spokesman are you? Lol. Yea I was so shocked to find the ones I did ! They were on clearance I guess about a week ago an these 2 were in the wrong spots. The guy about freaked when he saw the price. Off subject but I also saw Lews new rods with the Winn grips (golf company) I almost bought a couple but that's why I was in the store originally I needed 2 new reels. Got the reels an then almost got 2 new rods . Viscous cycle
  2. Has anyone tried Academy's line of H2O Spinning reels. I picked up some of their Mayhem models (not the low end product) and they were on Sale $35 which is less than the low end model. The mayhem has 10 BB . Has anyone had any experience with these reels
  3. Will be stayin in Branson this weekend. Would like to get away from the family with my brother for a bit on Sunday , and do some fishing . We are wanting to rent a kayak or canoe to fish the lower part of Taneycomo. Any recommendations on outfitters? I know Ozark Extreme Outdoors. Just curious what other options we may have! Thanks in advance
  4. Are there smallmouth in this stream? I know it is famous for the McCloud and trout in general. But just curious about te green fish
  5. I am very familiar with the area you parked and waded. I personally have never had any issues I have not fished it in 2 years but before that I fished there at least 2x a week . The grotto is a whole different story, I have been ran off from there several times . It is clearly marked now that it is PP And rightfully so. If I was a land owner I would be ticked at the way that stream is treated. The locals are the worst, complete disrespect for nature. Unfortunately calling the authorities in these situations would probably net 0 results. I think there are maybe 2 or 3 deputies in town, and chances are, if you are not a local , the fine officers of Doolittle ,do just that! Very little! Plus the land owner would likely be A) the sheriff himself, the deputies brother, C) the mayor , or D) all of the above
  6. Ok , so the trip was a success #1 no lost gear, lots of fish, lots of fun, lots of beer. We floated the upper Gasconade. father in law=14 fish 1 keeper, uncle = 4, aunt= 7 (including the 2 best fish of the day ,an 18in smallie3lbs, and 17in LM) brother in law=16 fish2keepers, my fiancé (2 fish on 10 casts including 1 15inch keeper SM), and myself 16 fish including 2keepers both 15in 1SM and 1LM) all fish were caught on some variation of soft plastics. Could no get bit on top water until the very end I caught 2 on a fluke. The rest of mine were caught on the Ned and jig n pig. Tubes and large jigs caught te best fish. The water was about a foot high, and visibility was about 3-4ft. Thanks for the tips, it felt good to get back out there , I have done so much lake fishing this year , I had to change my mind set. I forgot how fun and easy smallmouth are to catch( well I forgot how easy they were, they have an always will be my favorite fish to catch) but , when on the big reservoirs you have to be prepared for any and every possible pattern.
  7. fellas you got me pumped , unfortunately this dang heat has got me slumped , I was working in an attic today, and boy it sucked the life out of me. Going to bed in a cpl hours and gonna try to sleep it off load up the gear bright and squirly and I'll report back this weekend!
  8. this is some great advice too. I tend to get stressed over these things sometimes . There's so much preparation on these floats . I get wrapped up. In making sure we are prepared for everything. I let it overflow into every category.
  9. what do you mean by first wood?
  10. I agree I am probably over thinking , normally by this time of the year I would have been out there 10-20 times , but weather has certainly not allowed that. I will be fishing with the future father in law, his twin brother, his wife, his son, and the fiancé . 4 others will just be floating. So needless to say they will be getting hit hard , and things will get a little competitive . So I'm trying to be as prepared as possible and gain a slight advantage . Thanks for all the input though
  11. I have a 6'6 m action fast tip . With #6 floro for finesse stuff But something good for cranks, top water, spinnerbait I want at least 2 rods no more than 3 got to keep a reaction bait tied and then a finesse bait to clean up
  12. Fishingwrench what do you mean by 7wt?
  13. Going on a family float. And it's a good possibility that a canoe will tip somewhere along the way. I've go my tackle narrowed down. 1/8-1/2oz jigs ,flukes, spinner/buzz baits , maybe a few cranks. But can't narrow down the rods and reels want to keep it down to 2. What would your setups be?
  14. Great looking fish! I am dying to get out on some river fish
  15. Where are you located? Is price shipped to my door ? Or is shipping extra ?
