  19. Singing in the rain......no wait, signing in the hail.....no wait, singing in the sleet, LOL What an interesting day as techo has mentioned. I thought for sure today was going to be a really tough day, but it was pretty darn good. The hail that came down in the James was unreal. The pea size hail covered the deck of my boat. I did okay and placed 12th out of 56 boats considering that I was the only single man team. I managed to bring 15.16 to the scales just out of the money, but good enough for a pro-pack of lures for my efforts. My prefish spinner bait bite mid week held on for todays tournament. The only differnce was the fish moved away from the bank and where roaming 10 to 15 deep feet over 20 to 30 foot water. I slow rolled a 3/4oz gold willow leaf spinner bait. There was no mistaking the bite, they just hammered it. I culled up 2 fish and caught a total of 14 fish with 3 or 4 shorts. My hats off to Mrs techo for braving the elements today

It was a pleasure to meet you Tim. The pictures of the boy tell the whole story of how much he enjoyed being out of the water fishing, well done ! I'd rather hold off on telling what I'm throwing right now until after this Saturdays tournament. It has been producing quality fish for the last 2 weeks. Today I bagged around 18 pounds using it which might get a check. Saturdays weather may change what I'm using right now, I'll no more after the first hour or so of the tournament. I have a back up plan though just incase, lol Are you sure the Mrs wants to fish with you on Saturday ?.....the weather is looking pretty brutal. Mike,
  22. The fuel rail is an expensive part $$$ It looks like this company has the fuel rail, but you need to use your engine serial # for a positive confirmation of his parts listed. Click for parts link > Mercury DFI Opti-max fuel rail On another note, what makes you think your fuel rail needs to be replaced ? I'd sure like to save you some money if possible. Was an air pressure test done before the fuel rail test? Fuel pressure should be 10psi over air pressure test. If the fuel pressure is not 10psi over air pressure, the engine is out of calibration and will run poorly or not at all. Once fuel lines have been checked for any restrictions, the next step would be to replace the "fuel pressure regulator" before replacing the fuel rail.
  23. I'm going to respond to each and everyone of you who have taken part in this discussion. It just takes a bit of time to type., but here's a start Flippin, That's a good goal. Focusing and applying yourself to a specific seasonal pattern will do wonders to improve your catch ratio. I also agree the information that can be obtain from the other members here is priceless, a darn good bunch of folks. Bill, Thanks for the information. I use the tech achieves here all the time, that's how my eyes where opened to stick bait fishing in the first place. I had never heard about it until I read it here. I actually have a copy of the well written article in my boat for reference. That is a wonderful list of guides you listed, but you should have included yourself. From what I have read on this board you are one of the best. I don't consider any ones suggestion to use a guide as any type of promotion; it is simply the best way to get hands on, one on one experience. I don't think that fact could be argued. It's nice to see that after 30 years of fishing table rock you still want to enhance your skills and knowledge. That's a testament of a true professional. Techo, Your enthusiasm for bass fishing is the best I've ever seen. Your constant support of others on this website really shines, but more evident to me is your desire to learn and apply what you've learned. You have set up doable goals for this year and one of those goals that YOU CAN accomplish is making the Championship tournament for AIA. As you most likely already know you need to fish a minimum of 4 out of 5 events to be illegible, and accumulated enough points to be in the top 40%. Here's how you do that. Fish at least 4 events and weigh in at least "one" fish per tournament. One fish will usually yield anywhere from 200 to 250 points towards overall point standings. 1000 points at the end of the season has about a 99% chance of being in the top 40% for the Championship. Also remember that 5 wild cards from each division can be picked for the championship as long as they meet the minimum 4 fished events. Trust me your chances of making the championship are way better then you think. Hopefully your work schedule or any other prior events won't cause you to miss any tournaments. As it stands now, your qualifying position in the AIA standings is very good. Remember, weighing in just one fish is so important. I see many guys at the tournaments who don't weigh in that one fish they caught that day, and it's a HUGE mistake, if your looking at the big picture or goal of making the championship tournament.
  24. I know I know, this might seem like a silly topic asking about fishing goals, but I'm a goal oriented guy. So do any of you have something you want to improve on or perhaps fish a body of water you've never been on, maybe buying a boat or tackle ? Lets hear what you'd like to see for yourself in 2009. Heck even getting out of bed and getting down to do some fishing is a goal. My goals for the 2009 season are to catch a limit of bass every tournament this year and make the Championship fish off. Last season for 2008 my goal was to make the Championship tournament, which I did, but I didn't have a very stellar catch ratio. I would like to win a tournament this season, but I think thinking that way will put to much undue pressure on me, so I'm saving that for next year. Another one of my personal goals is to learn and execute jerk bait fishing, frankly I suck at it, and I tried it last year for the first time and didn't catch anything. Also on the list is to start dissecting the Baxter area of the lake. I spent all of last year learning the Kimberly City to the mouth of the James River from Aunts creek. I have sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much to learn still.
  25. Okay........Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha, just kidding Trust me your not alone, present company excluded. I've seen this happen on the water many many times from other anglers. I won't even idle with my big motor if the trolling motor is down. Maybe this will make you feel better. My bone head mistake was over lookng that small but useful plug that releases and keeps water out of your boat. I can say with all honesty that when you are 10 miles from your launch site after discovering your taking water on, you panic
