the army corps of engineers runs the whole lake pretty much and they have no restrictions on canoes or kayaks...u can get to some spots on the lake that regular boats cant get to cause all the timber i used to bring my canoe there all the time i would always put in at the 107 boat ramp and fish around there just remember theres like over 20 or 30 public boat ramps on this lake u got plenty of options to choose from
had a lot of trips where we got skunked in the past so i just pretty much gave up on the place until last weekend we wanted to keep it close to home anyways its a hit or miss lake but man it sure is beautiful sure beats sitting on the couch
were gonna go back sunday and ill do another updated report seems like it has a good ecosystem for the most part.I really gave up on the place the past couple years, but now i wanna put my time in there again this fall since its close to home
well havent been to mark twain in a while and decided to give it a go sunday and didnt set very high expectations but things went well we got on the water 30 min after sun up we put in around indian creek and fished for bass with my brother adam and my roomate matt(smallie seeker) we all tied up something diffrenent but the first fish came off a white spinnerbait in timber a nice fat healthy 17 inch bass caught by matt then a couple warmouths here and there then i decided to tie up a silver rattle trap for my brother since he cant really fish well i decided to get him on a reaction bait then he nailed a 15 incher boom it was on we only fished 20 min and 2 keepers already after another hour i finally said lets crappie fish since we got some minnows and we caught like 50 crappie mid day between the minnows and a pink jig matt never gave up on since hes to good to fish with minnows anyways after crappie fishing for a while matt hooked up with a flathead catfish he fought for 30 min the it finally broke him off he only had 4 lb line and a crappie rod anyways after getting burnt out on 95% non keeper crappie we went back to bass fishing and caught a couple more keepers i got a nice 15 incher on a lizard just cause i havent tied one on in years and it worked well had alot of bites on it then matt hooked up a nice 4.5 pounder on a green wackey worm then we pretty much called it a night after trying to see if we could sneak up on some deer with the trolling motor seemed we saw alota deer movement that day too on the corps property all and all it was a fun day and it looks like ill be back next weekened !
all our crappie came from arouns 20-40 ft of water suspened 10-15 ft
all the bass were tight to cover in the timber deep and shallow!!!!!
every now and then ill hook em too on the missouri river ... the first time i ever hooked one i didnt know what it was after thinking about it all week i had to do research those are rare to catch anywhere u go the way i look at it i probably caught 3 in the past 10 years...anyways nice bonus fish that ones a beast
