  1. Thanks all! Hopefully by the end of March, temps are cooperative
  2. Aw c’mon. This was a serious question. The trolling bite was excellent last year, but I don’t know when it starts. I’ve got some relatives coming to town at the end of March and it would be a lot easier to just troll (given their age) thanks
  3. When does the trolling bite start to pick up?
  4. I braved the wind on Sunday. Drug some worms and minnows. No dice. It eventually got to rocking and rolling pretty good and I quit around 2:30. Didn’t see another boat ALL DAY. Water temp 39-40 My Lund is pretty sturdy, but being by myself, I didn’t want to push it. Really glad I have a full windshield!
  5. Made my own that fit my Lund’s gunwale track system. Tracker boats have the same groove in the gunwale. Just need 3” bolts, wing nuts, washers and any rod holder kit. I used a piece of pressure treated decking to mount the holder to. I’ll add picks later. $18 in materials. Saved a ton of money and they work great!

    Ice?

Got fricking food poisoning last Saturday. It was so bad I couldn’t go fishing! Still haven’t fished this year. On the plus side, vomiting really works your core. I’m sore as heck Going this weekend for certain

    Ice?

Lots of views, but no replies! I drove over Truman on 13 yesterday. Almost completely froze over. I think the main lake ramps will be open, but not the creek arms. Fingers crossed.

    Ice?

I haven’t fished all year! Last January was my best a-rig month. Just wondering if anyone can tell me if Highpoint ramp is open? Hoping to go Saturday. Thanks
  11. I've never seen prices this low for St. Croix Mojo Bass rods before and I'm a big fan of the rod, but Academy has them for $80...which is $40-50 below where you normally see them. Free shipping even though it's a one-piece rod too. Go to the clearance section. Whopper Plopper 130's for $12 too (only certain colors). Just passing it along...
  12. Check online.
  13. Academy Sports has the green ones on sale for $6.99. Seem like you never see them on sale.
  14. I also trolled yesterday. Got 15 keeper crappie and a ton of junk fish. Lots of action to keep to little boys occupied. With it being overcast, gold seemed to be the hot color.
  15. The trolling crappie/walleye bite has been too good lately. Anyone trying a Carolina rig? If you don't like drop shot, that's usually the way to go this time of year. Of course, usually it's 100 degrees and dry as a bone.
  16. 'Excellent' in my best Mr. Burns voice...
  17. Taking some newbies out on Sunday and just wondering what the water looks like after all the rain we got. I prefer to fish Lower Sac Thanks!
  18. I don't have a long history with Stockton because I've only lived in the area 2 years, but have the drum always been this bad? I seem to be catching 1 crappie or walleye for every 3 drum. At a lake I used to fish growing up, there were no drum. Then one year we started catching a couple. In a couple years, the lake was over run with drum and they definitely had an impact on game fish. Just wondering if I aught to start euthanizing them and feeding the eagles.
  19. Out east, they call crappie 'calico's' and in southern Florida they call them "specks." All depends where you're from, I guess.
  20. Gas station on the corner of 215 and 123 has leeches last time I was in about 2 months ago. I've never seen a perch come out of Stockton and don't believe they are in there. They are not listed as a specie in the lake. I know they're in Bull Shoals.
  21. Really good thread. I just wanted to add to it. Pics of my set up. Home made rod holder brackets cost me a grand total of $36 including the rod holders. My brackets work in Lund and Tracker gunwale track systems...not sure if other boats have the same groove that runs around the perimeter of the gunwale. I even have the kids fully trained...driving, catching, and putting out. All I have to do is have a beer. I do have to use two 32" drift socks and trim the motor to slow it down. Kicker motor is already on the CAPEX plan for 2018.
  22. Took the wife fishing yesterday for the first time in probably 10 years (her choice, not mine). Thankfully, the fish were cooperating. She caught a nice 18" walleye which was her first since we lived in Minnesota. 16 total keepers. All trolling. It was strange. I swear every time we would go over a pod of bait, we/d get a bite. Caught lots of drum and huge channel cat too. Also accidentally snagged about a 20Lb buffalo which made some fun for my wife.
  23. About the Lund? 2016 Crossover. I absolutely love that boat. My only regret is not putting a kicker on it. Something I plan to correct 2018.
  24. Other than the day they were born, I couldn't have asked for a better Father's Day. Despite the early rain showers, everyone was in a good mood and I have to say the action certainly helped. All caught trolling in 12-20'. A couple crappie over 13". The walleye measured 23.5"
  25. The brush piles were at different depths, but caught most of them 3'-4' deep on minnows. Also, caught most on them on the opposite side of the brush relative to the wind. I'd like to go again Sunday, but I wonder how muddy it will be.
