  1. I'm more than a little disappointed that garmin has absolutely no map data avaliable for Taneycomo. There is a small section uploaded on the quick draw community, but it's a very short section of the river. Does anyone have a quick draw map they would be willing to share so I can stay in the chanel? I will in turn give you all of the quick draw data I compile over the weekend or some coordinates for Bull Shoals or Norfork.
  2. Jerk Baits huh? Ill have to go dig them out of the basement. Any particular color/cadence that seems to be more effective than another?
  3. Were taking our guys to Taney for some trout fishing this weekend, but after 3 years of drifting powerbait I want a new challenge. I black bass fish a lot, and were taking my 20' Stratos, so I can get almost everywhere on the lake. I bought some big trout glide baits just for this lake, but what else are you guys liking for black bass right now?
  4. We've taken our employees the last two years but still need a good place to start using frequently. Originally I wanted to use lillies but they only do 3 night bookings and we're in need of a 2 night for 5 guys. We stayed at Blue Haven 2 years ago and were less than impressed. We felt like we were an imposition on the owner. We stayed at Trout Hollow last year and loved it. Great facilities and the owner was awesome and welcoming BUT it was a 25 minute drive to the ramp. I've got a new boat this year with a mystery leak so I need to be close to a ramp so we can haul the boat every night. So. Good resort capable of sleeping 5 people with a fairly close ramp. Anyone have a recommendation?
  5. Sorry if this is a repost, but I about lost my cookies when I saw this. I immediately thought of OzarkAnglers when I thought it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6DYVBdo6TM
  6. Well, it was defiantly a learning experience, and we earned the fish we caught. We went Fri evening and saturday with only one fish to show for our hours of bottom dragging. Once we threw a float on and ran our power baits higher in the water column on Sunday we started to make it happen. We had to run all the way to powersite to catch them on our last day but we finally put a pattern together and caught them really well until the cloud cover burned off. Nothing even remotely close to a trophy, but we had fun. I saw several of Phils boats down by the landing but I'm pretty sure he wasn't in them.
  7. Stopped by this evening to meet the man, the myth, and the legend but he wasn't up at the tackle shop.
  8. I just wanted to say thanks to Phil for all the how to videos he's posted on youtube and the information he's shared on here. I have no idea if we are going to have a successful trip or not next weekend, but at least I have some base of knowledge of techniques that seem to work. We'll be in Saturday am to buy some hooks and jigs and to try and get a fishing report.
  9. Do they work as well in a size 6 as well as they do in an 8/0?
  10. I won't be using the braid because it is 20lb test, I'm using it because I prefer braid out of a spinning reel and the 20lb is .01" larger than the 4lb flouro. Im not making due with what I have currently, I'm looking for a setup that I can then use as a crappie setup when we're done with the weekend. I plan on throwing some jigs, mepps, and some sculpin plastics I've had for years in addition to drifting powerbait. As far as hooks go what size should I be looking for? 4 or 6? I'm not trying to rewrite the book on something I don't know anything about, but it seems the techniques used for drifting for trout are almost the exact same that we use for drifting for blue and flathead cats. Do they make circle or octopus hooks small enough to trout fish with? Since we switched to octopus hooks we dropped our gut hooks down tremendously.
  11. Like the title says, I'm a trout virgin looking to get setup for my first trip to Taneycomo. I do a lot of black bass fishing so what I'm thinking of putting together is just a scaled down version of my finesse setups. 7' UL rod, 20lb braid with a 6' 4lb fluorocarbon leader. The braid and leader are nearly the same diameter, but braid is so much easier to deal with on a spinning reel. From there it will be either a Carolina or a Santee type rig to powerboat. Am I on the right track or way off base.
  12. I downloaded it a few weeks ago. It seems like it is a good idea, but after I land a fish I don't want to be scrambling for my phone. I want a line back in the water as quickly as possible.
