  1. Great points, Al.
  2. It's about 24 inches from going into our lower units right now. Beaver is dropping real good but Table Rock is still rising. Rain coming today and tonight. One more round.
  3. Turbine release is 16,442 http://www.swl-wc.usace.army.mil/WCDS/Reports/Data/Bulsdam.htm Then they're running 60,442 cfs. That makes more sense.
  4. 44,000 cfs doesn't sound like much for the white.... Am I missing something? Must be. The white has more space for the water compared to Taney I think. And there's no dam at the lower end holding the level up like Taney. What am I missing, Dan?
  5. This is "dummy" reporting. It seems Beaver is starting to drop- finally. But Table Rock continues to inch up every hour. The one thing right now is the storm approaching. It looks like a bad thunderstorm but it's think and fast moving and shouldn't dump a lot of rain on us, hopefully. If we can get by one more day, the extended forecast looks dry, at least for 4-6 days. I don't think we'll see our water level drop until this weekend, at the earliest. Water temps are still in the low 50's and the DO is very high. These events in the spring always are great for our trout. They're getting tons to eat. BTY- just got back from Boston visiting our son. With the news about Joplin in their news too, several asked me... "why would anyone live in an area where there are storms and tornados!?" Guess it takes all kinds, doesn't it.
  6. We can take it to about 53,000 cfs. Higher than that and it's in our lower units. But we are ready to sand bag so we are better prepared. Not good for renting boats though
  7. One thing we've learned is that the Springfield news media can't be trusted... That's all I'll say about that. 34,000 cfs tonight. Beaver I noticed the tail water rose 5 ft and the lake level is dropping so that's good. We will see if they can on top of table rock tonight releasing 34k.
  8. 2008 flood they ran about 46,000- the highest ever. Last month it got up to 68,000. Most of us can get to our docks at 25,000 but any higher we can't. Ramps are covered. About 60,000 puts it in our lower units but we're ready with 800 sand bags this time. There won't be all the trees and trash this time though but it will erode more bank and move more gravel around.
  9. Denny. If there are ppl who want to come help go through rubble for survivors, can they just drive over and help or is there enough help? The reason I ask is that I know of one guy who drove up last night and he's been there since helping. He just jumped in and went to work. He said they needed more hands but that was last night. Have another friend who was heading up at noon with his front loader from neosho.
  10. Not sure anyone knows. I hope it's not as bad as april's flood but time will tell. Lake levels don't seem to be rising all that fast but like you said, it's still raining and more to come. I said we'd be dodging bullets for the next few months... Wishing I was wrong.
  11. My guess is that they'll try to match whats coming in at the dams like last time, then release enough to give them some wiggle room for the next rain event. Amount of release depends on rain. Table Rock. I've heard a couple of warnings. One is that they are going to release 20-30,ooo cfs and up it later today. I would think they will do the same as last time- get on top of the lake levels, let them crest and then back off when they start to drop.
  12. The magic number is 729 feet. That's when theyll open er up.
  13. You're putting a lot off stock on the weatherman. I still stand behind the Corp and say no flow till the water is on the ground. They are saying the flow will be 55000 if they run it. Not going to mess around. Would like it to be 48000 so it won't get into our units but we have 1000 sand bags ready. Now if they drained the lake as you say and the rain doesnt come, then you've flooded my resort for no reason. If the rain falls, we are flooded no matter what. Regardless, I feel pretty helpless... I'm in Boston visiting my son.
  14. No. Don't think I want to do that. Not that many topics started to separate.
  15. Drove through that area a couple of hours ago. Bad rain and it seems to be not moving on. Glad it's to the east of us but sorry for those along the river(s).
  16. I'd consider giving 100% to charity and give winners prizes from sponsors. You'd be surprised how this would not scare people from fishing them. Most would just do it for the fun of it- excuse to get out and fish. Takes some of the motivation out of cheating too. There's a thread a few years old we talked about fly fishing tournaments on Taneycomo... had one and it was fun but here on Taney we're too much subject to generation to schedule one unless it's out of a boat.
  17. Trees are in full view. Can't miss them. Water level will be lower although there is current because of the boards being down at Powersite. Just stay in the channel and you should be good. pl
  18. Fishing below Fall Creek has been tough. Not sure why. I suggested to some that they try drifting scuds and egg flies below Fall Creek cause they've done so well using them above. Didn't hear beck on that suggestion. Also, gold/black sinking Rapalas worked real good the last few days up below the dam.
  19. This may be a harder tournament than I first thought as far as restrictions on baits. Bass tourneys- can't use live bait but can use scented and soft plastics. Trout- I need to eliminate baits that would catch a trout by letting it sit in the water motionless. I think for this one, I'll just eliminate live and Berkley Trout Baits and that's all. See how this one goes. So yes- those baits you use for bass, soft plastics and scented, are ok to use.
  20. Hummm... hadn't thought about that. I use those rules in all my trout tournaments so I just copied-pasted it. I may change it. Just no live bait (worms, power bait). Thanks for pointing it out.
  21. You're right on the cable. Just learned that myself. They pull the cable when they need to let more water through without raising the level of LT. With them out, the level drops 4 feet at the lower end when the water is all the way off and if they're running some water, it's lower up here and runs faster. Makes it interesting. Two of the guides hit bottom above Fall Creek yesterday and ruined their props in places they usually don't have to watch for... it has changed.
  22. We will be marking 11-inch cutthroat trout at the Norfork National Fish Hatchery on May 19th & 20th and are looking for some volunteers to assist us. We will be getting started around 8:30 am. For those of that helped this past winter with the brown trout, this should be a much more pleasant experience. At this time I do not anticipate freezing temperatures to be an issue. Also, we have gone to a better set-up that allows us to be more efficient. If you would like to help, please let me know as soon as you can so I start to get a head count. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks. 23. We are having to cancel this tournament because the Bass Pro Dock will not be back in service by June 12th and there's no place to start or finish the tournament in the downtown area. Chances are, we will hold this tournament next June. CANCELED: We are sponsoring a benefit fishing tournament on Sunday, June 12 here on Lake Taneycomo. The beneficiary is Ozarks Water Watch http://www.whiteriverbasin.org/ part of the Upper White River Basin Foundation. Lilleys' Landing and Bass Pro is the major sponsors. Here's a couple of links to pdf's I've uploaded to give you the specifics - You can catch and weigh in 4 bass and 4 trout. It's unlike any other tournament we've ever held on Lake Taneycomo. Entry is $50 per team. After the event, Bass Pro's Fish House will feed everyone including family members one of their famous Bar-B-Que dinners so come on out and enjoy a day of fishing and fellowship for a good cause. ~~CANCELED~~
  24. The boards are 4 feet high.
  25. Wish we would have placed those big rocks in the flat below and across from #2 before the flood. Would have made some interesting holes I bet. All that gravel gone from the bank had to go someplace. I think that's what we'll see when the water drops all the way out. The boards are down at Powersite remember so the water levels are going to be lower than usual with the amount of water running.
