  1. Okay Trav, got it. I really wasn't sure how many they have. I know when it's crankin it's CRANKIN!! Good report. I read em all and enjoy them. SIO3
  2. I thought Taney only had 4 generators? SIO3
  3. Had to look at the spool myself, fluoroflex. At night I use 10 Lb Vanish. SIO3
  4. I use Rio Flouroflex and I can see it floating on the water when the surface is relatively calm. Broken water is different, and neither mono or flouro seems better to me. I think flouro is better because I can use 5x most of the time and never go to 7x anymore. I used to go to 7x with mono in clear, shallow water. Just my 2 cents. SIO3
  5. Nice Esox!! That area is what we call the garden. SIO3
  6. Kayser and esox, if you look at the link I posted that's where we were. Me and Maxlinespeed. Cast ahead of the school and strip fast. I think they hit it better that way. The weekends are busy down there with locals, but they are very nice. They love to watch flyfishing. I caught , carp. asians, buffalo, hybrids, whitebass, drum and largemouth. Oh!!! Gar so big they'll scare you when you're wading. Caught fish to 3 or 4 feet long. Bring a stout stick or you're done. Chartreuse and white worked for me. SIO3
  7. I can't find the obit. I have to go to work so if someone else could try that would be great. Go to stltoday.com. SIO3
  8. If you look at the link I posted most of the fish we caught were asians but I hooked big mouth buffalo that I couldn't turn around. I sight fished them so I knew what it was. Go to the tailwaters and throw into the big black areas. It's black from the asians stacked in there. Some fish are clearly flossed but some strike the clousers pretty hard. Everyone says you can't catch asians because they filter feed but I've caught them on several trips so it wasn't a fluke. I think in the tailwaters alot fish come through and they will pick off whatever is there. Chartreuse and white clousers work very well. SIO3
  9. I first met Ed when his shop was on St. Charles Rock Road by the airport and it had to be 30 or more years ago. He was the nicest guy in flyfishing! My dad took me in his shop to tie flys when i was a boyscout. He helped me catch more fish than anyone. His contribution to the sport is beyond compare, especially in Mo and AR. Prayers for him and his family. SIo3
  10. I've caught em. And they were big. Go to the Big Muddy below Rend Lake spillway or Carlisle or Kinkade. Click on the link below, I'm the guy with one on. It's nasty, muddy and smelly but they pull like a bull. I use a 9 weight and clousers. Haven't been there this year so I can't comment on what's up. Ask away and I'll try and answer your questions. http://www.ozarkchronicles.com/forums/view...a106a01166320f4 I've hooked Buffs that I couldn't turn around with a nine weight. Had to break em off or lose my flyline. SIO3
  11. Sounds like a good trip to me since I haven't been since January. Is it okay to use trebles on the rapalas in the trophy area? SIO3
  12. If there is one piece of advice on smoking butt, it is that fat renders at 165 degrees f. The meat will come up to that temp relatively quickly, then seems to never get hotter than that. It's called plateauing. You think your close to being done but a good size roast can sit at an internal temp of 165 for many hours. Once the majority of fat is rendered it will scoot right up to 200 degres and will moist and tender. If you try and hurry this process you either have burnt meat or fatty meat. Don't get discouraged it's melting out all the fat out of the meat slowly. You can read about it in many BBQ books and I even googles it and got alot of hits. Bottom line is, low and slow and let that fat render out. SIO3
  13. The Truman Smokehouse at Big Cedar is one of our favorites for lunch. I can't wait to hear if there are any other options since we'll be down there in early August. SIO3
  14. I don't think so GB. It's a corp lake so there isn't alot of development "on" the lake. After Branson Creek every other course is a notch or two below that. I haven't played Murder Rock so that may be something to check out. Somebody on here will know about it. One of my favs is Point Royale. It's a tricky little course that when the greens are fast and firm can be tough, very tough. SIO3
  15. Hi FFM Look at the front page of the St. Louis Biz Journal today. The AB corporate fleet of jets and choppers are on the chopping block. I don't remember all the numbers but Inbev execs travel coach and the fleet of aircraft AB owns is probably out. Including their hanger rental, sevice contracts and fuel purchases. Spirit St. Louis airport is going to feel the pinch. SIO3
  16. Yes sir I have. I've caught them up to 3 feet long. They are a nasty invader that needs to be eradicated. I think they would decimate a stream like the Meramec. In the place I caught them we used to catch hybrids now we never catch hybrids anymore. The river is choked with asians and nothing else. SIO3
  17. At least call South 94 Bait shop. I'm not sure what they have, but you should give em a call. SIO3
  18. I think you can run a jetski right up to the dam, I believe. SIO3
  19. Those asian carp are terrible once they invade. I hope they don't tolerate spring water or they'll be all the way up the trout park by winter. SIO3
  20. I just read it. That's a nice fish for sure. SIO3
  21. Man, I missed all the action too. Isn't there a way to view the thread without adding to it? Shawn and Jscheetz, just because they start a forum for humor doesn't mean what you guys post is funny . I'm just razzin you boys. I mena men. I mean.... Awe forget it. SIO3
  22. Yeah right.... My friend Ryan did it. I'm not buying that lame excuse . SIO3
  23. I live 10 minutes from Busch so I go quite a bit. I hit the hrbrid lakes last year with no luck. Never saw an agent to ask about populations but the water didn't seem deep enough to hold hybrids. I catch a few bass over there. SIO3
  24. Techo I believe it's on Jan 1 very year at the pavilion near the hatcery at Taney. I haven't been able to make it but I try. SIO3
