  1. Any concern with the plan to raise the lake 6' over the next month messing with the spawn, er hatch?
  2. Randman, Pomme is a great lake, but it's not in the same class as LOZ.
  3. It was extremely frustrating to learn, I actually tried it last year and gave up on it. Finally figured it out, you have to make sure you keep the main line TIGHT, and make sure you pull every wrap tight, you can tell as it's forming if it looks right or not. It is so thin I have gone to 6' leaders and will go a long time without the need for a new one. It flies through line guides almost unnoticed.
  4. I have caught tons of fish on flukes over the year on straight mono. Since switching to braid with a fluoro leader I am convinced I missed many, many fish that spit it before I knew they had it. The sensitivity is 10x.
  5. I havent tried Nano, but I have switched from the Albright to the FG knot for all my braid to fluoro connections and I can tell you that, with the Albright if I got snagged and pulled til break, the break was ALWAYS at the knot. Since going to the FG knot the break is ALWAYS at the lure.
  6. Great article, and grandpa would agree.
  7. Filled up there last weekend, if they're not open the pumps take credit cards. Always good to stop for a margarita in the summer too!
  8. Kinkaid. :Kincaid in in KY Common mistake.
  9. Nice fish Ed!
  10. Braid does not backlash near as bad as mono or fluoro, and if it does it is MUCH easier to get out
  11. Have you looked at this place? Several people say you can get them new cheaper than refurbed https://www.bassboatseats.com/
  12. In Illinois, caught this morning by a bass fisherman. 4.88lbs! Pics on bookface. Congrats to the angler.
  13. Good luck. I understand not wanting to get screwed, but more than happy to pay a skilled tech for a job done correctly.
  14. Amazing Ed. What area of the lake do you spend most of your time?
  15. I was reluctant as well for a long time until I started fishing salt water more. In the crystal clear waters braid to mono is standard, once you learn to tie the right knots there are definite advantages for some set-ups. I caught this 36" 20lb Redfish in January on the same set-up I just caught the muskie I posted, 3000 size spinning reel, 20lb braid except I was using a 20lb fluoro leader in the salt, 12 for the musky.
  16. There's no one line good for all applications. I love a braid to fluoro leader for a c-rig and for finesse fishing, and have just recently started using a 20lb leader on 30lb braid for flipping. The muskie I caught yesterday I posted in another thread was probably 10lbs caught on a fluke with 20lb braid to 4' 12lb fluoro joined with an FG knot.
  17. Nah, Pretty sure it was a male and it's tail is worn from fanning a bed. Not sure why some can see the pic and some can't.
  18. Kinda funny, I caught this fish on a fluke, on a spinning rod and 3000 reel with 20lb braid to 4' 12 lb fluoro leader....typical muskie set-up, right! He made 2-3 good drag pulling runs then headed for the thick stuff, I had to lock down the drag and horse him or I knew he was gone, everything held including the FG knot I'm trying.
  19. 15 Bass and this guy. Fish are very shallow. Look at that tail.
  20. Just about any lake, pond or major river in MO.
  21. http://myemail.constantcontact.com/Lake-of-the-Ozarks-Produces-Record-Fishing-Tournament-Catch.html?soid=1104030179732&aid=mqt2vNTd7-4 Would have been nice for the MDC to give a little more depth to their answer....at least it was the truth.
  22. Most of the circuits post the results on their own pages for free. I can see it being convenient to have it all in one place for some though. How often do you think the claimed winning patterns or baits are the truth in the "reports" If I'm fishing back to back derby's and think I'm on something special or different I'm sure as hell not shouting it to the world...nor would anyone else. I know for a fact some of the big bags so far this spring were caught on something other than reported on BB. Ed, sorry to derail your thread love the reports from a real person, keep em coming!
  23. The "patterns" have been pretty much the same, for the 30+ years I have been fishing that lake. Tell me the date, water temp and weather that day and I know what I'll have tied on and what areas to hit. Same for any lake, fish are programmed to eat and survive, they do not think.
  24. 99% of boats have foam in them anyway. WORST thing you could put in a boat IMO. Closed cell, can't absorb water....it's BS. People would be surprised how much water foam holds, and how many boats are affected by waterlogged foam. However, for Wrench's suggestion as a fix it's a great one. It sucks that something that's designed to be in the water, has water for it's worst enemy. I firmly believe that most water intrusion in boats is not caused while on the water in use, but while in storage. Most canvas type tarps do not do a good job of keeping water out, and once it's wet and covered it stays wet. When I had to store outside I always used an additional polyethylene tarp over the boat cover to do my best to keep it dry.
  25. Genius!
