BB and worm 14-16ft. Didn't get a weight but it was one of the biggest I've seen killed.

I took my cousin youth hunting this weekend and invited some friends with kids that were eager to chase some turkeys. Saturday we spent most of the day drenched in rain, trudging through the woods. After the storms past, we loaded up the boat to see if the walleye were biting for the last 2 hours of the day. It was these kids first time walleye fishing and I was hoping we could at least boat one fish. Considering it had rained for the past 12 hours I was slightly pessimistic. It turned into a great night with us boating 15-20 walleye with 7 nice keepers. Sunday the turkey were firing off in every direction. We got on several turkey and closed the deal at 930 am with a triple bearded giant. It was a great weekend for the kids and I'm hoping I got them hooked on walleye and turkey for the rest of their lives.

I caught this 31.5" in Manitoba along with a host of 26"-28. My trips to Canada are what got me hooked on eyes.

I was trolling 2oz BB and a worm harness my father in law makes for me. I was trolling in 16fow at about .9 mph. I had caught a fair amount of whites and sub-legal eyes but no keepers yet. I decided to make a shallow pass around 12-14ft and it hit like a like a log (as walleye do). I set the hook and doubed my rod over. After the first head shakes I knew it was either a huge eye or a decent cat. It got to the boat as I glimpsed that iconic white tail and I felt my adrenaline start pumping and hands shaking. I tried to net it several times with it diving to the bottom every attempt along with my hopes of getting it in the boat. When it finally did get in the net and into the boat I could hardly breath. I called my ol' man immediately to give him the run down. He was just as Dad who taught his son to fish would act, proud and jealous.

I spent memorial day weekend on the lake with some friends. Before they all came up I decided to hit the lake, thanks to a short work day. After the last four years chasing ol' Walter I caught my biggest Stockton eye to date 26". The following days the water was really murky and we caught a few, but it was hard fishing for the most part.

Really crappy today. Only boated 8 walleye with a small 24". Just wish I was working instead. They were 8-16ft bb and worm.
-
Good to meet you Bob. We got on a few eye's but my dad caught a giant. Had a fish fry with lots of big bluegill and took the walleye home.

Anyone been catching walleye lately? I'm heading up tonight and I'm staying there the next 10 days to turkey hunt and walleye fish.

The 22nd I harvested a nice doe and saw 8 deer that night. Nothing big but eventful nevertheless. Also was able to bring home 3 walleye. So we've been eating all organic the past couple of weeks.

After bowhunting I picked up my father-in-law to try our luck at some walleye. At first we had a west wind so I picked out one of my spots on the east side of the lake that just slightly cuts into the main land to give the wind something to push into. I've found that those slight cutouts from the main lake tend to be where they like to stack up, rather than deep coves. We caught 10-15 almost all 14"-14.5" with one good 21" all in the 15' FOW trolling BB and crawlers. The wind died and our spot petered out. Then a good south wind picked up and we headed to one of my honey holes that I always catch them with a south wind. For some reason the fish were deeper there and I marked a ton of them but they just did not want to bite so I called it a day.

You can multiply your marbles by seizing every opportunity. The wife and I go fishing after work a few times a week during the crappie spawn. I invite guys to go fishing after work all the time and even to bring their kids. All I usually hear are excuses.

I took off from work April 21st-29th with the hope to fill my freezer with turkey, walleye, and morels. April 21st- The turkeys evaded me but I had my best day walleye fishing on Stockton I've ever had. See the link for the report. April 22nd-23rd- I had a great time turkey hunting getting on several birds but nothing wanted to cooperate. The 23rd I slayed the walleye 2 hours before sunset. No monsters but I filled my livewell with a limit in 30 minutes or so April 24th- At 5:00 I wake from the back of my pickup. I have a platform under a camper shell that serves as my hunting and fishing mobile. My propane coffee maker hisses as I put on my hunting gear, eventually providing me with a type of coffee I refer to as "black death." I drive my boat to the ramp just as the first rays are sailing over the horizon. While launching my boat, turkeys are already gobbling from across the lake. I launch my boat and head over to the direction I heard them. I stop in a familiar cove I fish for walleye and let out an owl hoot. The turkey gobbles so close I'm sure he could see me. I quietly idle my boat into the deepest pocket of the cove and find a spot to access the bank. I grab my old Winchester 1300 and splash onto the wet gravel. I'm not familiar with the area ,so I whip out my cell phone to check the Corps boundaries as well as the a topo map to get an idea of the relief of the terrain. The terrain is steep and I have to climb some serious hills before I can get to the hammering tom. I set off as the woods start to come to life, a different bird joins in the morning song every minute or so. I approach the gobbling tom and set out my decoys about 100 yards away from his roost tree, and let out a few soft yelps. A few crows start pestering him and he lets out a loud commanding gobble I could feel in my chest. I look at my watch and know its about fly-down time. I hear his wings beat and glide in the opposing direction. He gobbles as soon as his feet touch down to let the hens know where he is. I stay where I am hoping he will come my way but his senses are leading him elsewhere. I pick up my decoys and try to head him off on top of a peninsula that juts out into the lake. I set up again and instead of coming on top of the peninsula he skirts the lake bank gobbling the whole time. As he passes my location I pick up and try to head him off on the very end of the peninsula keeping about 50 yards from the bank on each side of me. I wait there making soft yelps every 5 to 10 minutes. I wait for 25 minutes as he goes silent. As I am about to get up, he lets out a gobble directly behind me just under the rise of the steep embankment. I slowly turnaround and wait. A white and blue head just peaks over the the top and I line the bead up with his head. He makes it a few more steps closer as I can just see the base of his beard. I pull the trigger and the bird falls to the leaves. It took 2 hours of cat and mouse before I finally got him. He had a 9" beard and 1" spurs, not my biggest by any means but definitely one of my best hunts. It's been 2 years since I harvest my last turkey and I had almost forgotten how good wild turkey is. I took him back to my campsite and made some turkey schnitzel. I now believe there is no better breakfast. I headed home after my hunt to drop off the pounds of turkey and walleye and restock on some supplies. April 25th- Rain, Rain, Rain April 26th- I chased turkeys until 1pm then headed back to the boat. I decided I wanted to look for mushrooms and scout some areas for the upcoming deer season. I put on 14 horizontal miles with only 1 morel to show for it but I did find and awesome piece of nostalgia. While walking the Corps land I found an abandoned shack. There was still calenders hanging on the wall from the 1970's as well as an old rusted out wood stove. There was also what looked like a tacklebox on the floor. Upon further inspection there was 4 old lures in the box. Those lures are now hanging with my collection on my lamp I made.

Shallow coves with the wind blowing into the cove. I went today in the afternoon and didnt have much luck. Went out again the last 2 hours of the day and caught 13.
-
I sure was, its makes for a hell of a day

I turkey hunted until 1 then hit the lake. It was the best day of walleye fishing ive ever had on stockton. Caught 20-25 in 3 hours. All looked like spawned out females, of the 4 i kept they were all females. I didnt catch a walleye under 17in with the biggest around 7 or 8 lbs 25"+ getting off right as i tried to net her. I knew she was about to get off so i dove over the bow to try and scoop her out, in the process gouging out a chunk of skin from a tie off cleat. All were caught 15-18 fow on yum worms with a silver spinner rig. One of the bigger eyes had about a 7" shad down her throat.
-
The only downside to the trip was that they bit like crazy for 2 hours then the last hour only caught 2. Then i realized that the wind had stopped blowing. I had good 10-15mph winds blowing right into the cove i was fishing. When it quit, it was like someone had turned off a lightswitch.

Yes a harness with 2oz BB. Water was 53°
