  1. Went out over the weekend for Wyandotte's opener and didn't do real well but I did manage to catch a limit of 1lb to 2lb channels on nightcrawlers. Should start getting better with the warmer weather we are getting!
  2. So, anyone been out chasing big ole' mr. lineside lately? Thinkin' bout heading down to Mike and Phyllis' place "Across The Creek", around the Lost Bridge area and fishing nights on the full moon coming up here in a couple weeks. If the stripers aren't bitin' at least you can eat good there at the all-u-can eat buffet they put on Friday and Saturday night!!!! Anyone heard of anything happening yet on the lake or are they still up in rivers?
  3. Anyone interested in a 1986 Champion bass boat, 18'-6", with a 175 Johnson (like new with very few hours since rebuild), Motorguide Energy Series trolling motor (24V), 2 Lowrance/Eagle fish finders, two-tone in color teal/gray, super boat to fish I just don't get into much lake fishing anymore. Guess you can say I turned river rat! If you want I can get some digital pics and e-mail them to ya. Boat has been garage kept its whole life and is in darned good shape. Upper front deck and boxes have new carpet. Floor could stand to be redone I just haven't gotten around to it. I'd take $6000 or tickle me with the option of trading for a 16' to 18' wide river flat bottom jon with a 25+ horse motor. Thanks all!
  4. I think if I was lookin' to do some grabbin'........ I would start out at SPANKS in Reeds Springs!!! Who's game to go???
  5. Well, I've got three fly rods I use @ Taney. They are all 7'-6" to 8'-0" long in 3 to 4 weights which is, to me perfect, for those smaller trout down there. Now you are gonna wish you had a little heavier outfit when you hit one of those 20+ inchers! But it makes for a lot of fun on the lighter gear. I've got a Pfluger as you mentioned. It is a decent rod. The thing it has going for it, is that it loads the line real well and will almost spit it out by itself. I've also got a Three Forks from Cabelas. It doesn't load the line near as well and makes for a bit trickier casting. My last rod is a G-Loomis. I would not recommend spending the money on one of these high dollard' dudes @ first. I think you would enjoy the pfluger just as much as one of the top end rods. If'n ya want come on over to the house and try them all out in my pond. That way you know which one works best for ya. Let's FISH!!! And o'course have a cold'en!!!

    Apologies

That's what I'm talkin' bout! Let's talk about some big pancake heads!!!!!! Who's got the itch to hang some lines???
  7. Kirk, Guess I'm going to have to show you how to catch them trout over that weekend! I'll be there too, as matter of fact if you are the same Kirk I'm thinking of, we'll probably be heading down together!
  8. Well the Parsons & KC boys had a blast! Mainly used grey and black jig with 1/80 oz black head and black body (thread). Saturday and Sunday went to a Ginger jig with black head and pink body (thread). We mainly fished from Fall Creek to Short Creek. We were pulling up to dock @ Lilleys and saw two guys fishing off main dock with a stringer of nice trout. Biggest trout they had was over 20 inches! But all in all we had a great time and look forward to coming back. Thanks again Phil, Jerry, and Lisa for a great weekend!!!
  9. Sounds like a good time. My boss has a house in Sarasota and has invited me down. Thinking about giving it a whirl! Thanks for all your info!
  10. I've got one question for ya, how the heck do you get from the main land out onto the island?
  11. Bill, I'll be heading down tonight. Should be @ Lilley's by 8 or 9:00. Hope to run into ya!
  12. Seth, that ole girl was only around 80 lbs. We've caught and seen many a helluva lot bigger than that where we snag! Nice'en you got there!
  13. Jay, I haven't heard of such a thing nor tried it that early in the year but I imagine it could be done. I usually start heading down there in March and April and throwing 1 oz rattle traps. Its a hoot! And to boot the only time we have ever caught them was after the sun goes down. They move up onto the points and into the tops of those big arsed submerged trees. We fish mainly around the darn and that area. If you know of anything happening down there early as you mentioned let me know. I'd love to get down there and give it a whirl in January or February.
  14. Bill, I'll be heading down Wednesday night and was wandering if you were going to be around the river anytime there thru Sunday. I use my fly rod with small maribou jigs and a strike ind. but I have never fished with flies the way you are talking about. I was wandering if I could catch up with ya for a minute or two and just see exactly what you are talking about. I'll have a cold'in waiting for ya if that will inspire ya any at all?
  15. Haven't been down below for a while now. Trying to get ready for our annual trout trip down a Lilleys next week. It's sorta a big deal with a whole bunch of us going so it takes some planning and coordinating on meals and course cold'ens! But I'm sure them eyes' are getting ready to start moving up in there in a month or so!
  16. I'd have to say hairus ballus which is the scientific name for what my cat leaves me on the floor, hair ball!
  17. Gonefishin, yep the Oar House is still humping away although the owners have changed. Our neigbor George, who used to own it, sold it two years ago to a younger dude. He has not changed the business a whole lot mainly he just changed the menu and the crowd! George didn't like the loud crowds in his bar at night but this new dude will let'r rip! You'll have to come down and fish in the Oar Houses Spoony Tourney! Its a good time! My old man and myself have placed in the top five the past couple years missing first place two years ago by only a couple pounds!
  18. You boys wanna get on a bunch of spoonies come on down to Warsaw around the 78 MM (The Old Oar House), look for a black and silver Lund with a 150 Rude on the back. I'll show ya where the sows are layin'! And we'll have a few coldin's also! I try to snag everyday of the season anywhere from 50 MM on LOZ clear up to Taberville around Shell Osage on Truman. Me and a few of my buddy's tear them up every year and it just seems that snaggers are a good bunch of old boys to hang around. After all snaggers have stiffer poles!
  19. That's far out, Phil! You are gonna have to show me where that camera is next week when I come down and stay. We'll be down Wednesday night and I wanna drop a line in on top of that camera (just seen Moby swim by!!!!!!)
  20. Well fellas it's set in stone and the KC and Parsons boys are coming down Jan 11th thru the 15th for the annual Drunk Fest @ Lilley's. Jerry and Phil make sure you guys come on over and join in on the fry and maybe a few cold'ens! Hope to see and meet some of you other fellers down there also that weekend and share a cold'en with you too! Regards, Carson, Baker, Grosko Clan!
