Hey numb nuts, that was a real boner! Shoot, there I go talking to myself again................................ Well, first of all please don't group all tournament fishermen into that pot. I for one fished a derby last month at Lake Ozark and pulled up to a couple crappie fishermen and asked if I could fish out a point in front of them. Their answer was sure and thanks for asking! Porfessionals on the water act as such just as Bill, Don, and Eric do. The others, well their just numb nuts.............. LOL!!!
-
Don, Come on now. I saw you last week with the rope and rock yelling "Mark Twain"!!!
-
Come on Gary......... they were just teasing!!! LOL!
-
Bill, Fished a small derby on Saturday. Bud Day won throwing a blade all day with six fish over 20#'s in a couple creek arms by the dam. All I know is a double willow 1/2 oz blade around the wood. Water temp was 54-53 with a lot of wind.....

Received an email from Rick on Monday to let us know his mother had passed on. Keep the big boy and his family in your prayers during a time of loss.

I fished last Tuesday around the main lake and then Wednesday at Cape Fare. Had one smallie that went 5# (check out Capt. Don's web page www.bransonfishingguideservice.com for a pic.)and several KY's all on jigs and cranks. Wed. up at Cape Fare they were hitting footballs with several KY's and biggest one going 3#.

MOBass, This chapter is a group of kids from north of Springfield, Skyline High School and Wheatland. Greg Pennington is the chapter director, I'll give him your email to talk about starting a group down south if you wish. The kid must maintain a certain GPA, have monthly meetings with speakers, and a couple "tournaments" each year. Give me a shout when you're heading out in December. My travel schedule slows a bit then. I'll just have to get the long johns out! Thanks again!
-
MOBass, It was good to meet you today! It's always nice to put a face to the people on the web here! Thanks for the info. the young man and his father who were with me today caught their limits and culled through five of the eight fish. I'll be looking for you in Jan. Feb. for those flyfishing lessons! Thanks again!

Don, I forgot I've got a DR. apt. Monday AM but will be heading down mid day and will be out all day Tuesday then on Wed. from early to around 1 PM.

I was on the lake Friday when I heard a couple crows just giving something the dickens. When I made it up closer I saw a large Bald Eagle eating a fish with three crows sitting around her just yelling their heads off. Looked like they wanted the fish! Fishing is a lot more than catching some times.......

Help Getting Started Tying Jigs
J.E. replied to carolina-rig-01's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
Hey CR, I just saw this post. I tie my own jigs also. I just like the ability to put together color combo's that you cannot find at the store. One thing I do is had tie with thread not wire or rubber collars. -
SKMO, Good plan. Fished Cambpell Point area today. Topwater early before the sun hit and the fog left produced one keeper. The balance of the day threw jigs in 40' of water and blades when the wind picked up. Landed 18 with a mix of LM and Spots with a total of 6 keepers.
-
C-rig, Thanks for a great day today! The tournament was a lot of fun and Bud and I enjoyed meeting and fishing with everyone there. Know that all will be in our prayers. J.E.
-
Don't forget to be there!
-
Darn SKMO. I forgot my Bikini!! I was up the James and did well also on football jigs. 25-35' off bluff ends.
-
Don, Just got back. Ten fish with two keepers all on jigs.
-
Great info Bill, keep the light shinning on this.

Think about this. What are the Gar eating? What do bass eat? Find the bait, find the fish????

DC, The Corp of Engineers has a web page where they post the regatta permits on all of their lakes. They do limit, as I understand, the number of boats based on ramp facilities however I do not know if they take into consideration the size of the lake in ratio to the number of boats in a tournament. That may be very difficult to do as they would have no idea of how many non-tournament boats may be on the water. The Corp would not permit a tournament during a race, and have in fact closed portions of lakes i.e. Lake of the Ozarks and Taneycomo, during races. The issue is boat traffic and tournaments contribute however I would bet on a weekend you'll find as many pleasure boaters or non-tournament fishermen on the water at the same time. Offer still stands! Let's go fishing!!
