  1. On the water at 9:15 and went down from K Dock Marina. Fished several creeks, pockets, etc. Threw a bunch of different baits. We caught 20+ and lost several bigger ones at the boat. Several 3+lbs in the boat as well. Very few non keeepers. All fish caught on Finesse jigs on main lake points for the most part. Didn’t catch a single fish until the breeze started. Wind blown points was the key. Caught a few on steeper banks targeting rock transition. Chunk rock was best on the banks. WT 56ish when we started and 59ish when we left at 4. Was a lot of fun. Only saw 2 other fishers where we fished.
  2. I haven’t fished BS in a while. At what water level makes the ramp their unusable due to water being too low? I’m probably going to head there in a few days. I appreciate any responses. Thanks.
  3. Top water bite was pretty decent. On the water at 6:10 and 1st one in the boat at 6:18. WT 84.4. Last one in the boat was at 10:30. We caught 13 and had a couple pull off. Bone color worked the best. 7 keepers total. Targeted banks with deep water real close. If the bank was a gentle slope then no takers. Gravel mixed with big chunk rock or under water ledges. Mostly anything with shade once the sun got up. Main lake was not productive for us at all. Fished from State Park Marina to Clevinger Cove.
  4. Well let’s see. Put in this morning just after 6. WT 83. My buddy and I ran over near Moonshine and The Chateau to start. Throwing top water baits. It started off a tad slow but picked up about 6:40. Buddy picked up 2 keepers and I ended up picking up 3 keepers. Heck I think the last time we caught 5 keepers was in May. Anyway the fish were shallow. Dang near dirt shallow. Less than 5 FOW. No feeding activity to speak of either. Big one was 3 09. We paralleled the bank with the boat in 15 FOW or so. Bone color walking baits and a prop bait. Left and went to Cow Creek and got 3 more 1 keeper and a double on a prop bait. Both of those were small. All in all a productive morning. Chased the shade all morning. I’ve been hearing about the top water bite being really difficult. It’s the only thing we caught them on this morning
  5. On the water at 730. Put in a Bridgeport. Motored up to Peach Orchard. WT 50. 1st hour and a half boated 12. 2 keepers. 8 on jerk bait and 4 on RK in craw fish pattern. Then nothing, nada dang thing. Checked Bear Den with no luck. Bout 11 went over to Flat Creek. Caught 9 in less than 20 minutes jerking. All decent but only 2 more keepers. Bite shut off and we were on the prowl. Started hitting main lake points that the wind was blowing across. Casting upwind and coming across the points paid off. Off the water at 330. Total fish 46. Total keepers 6 all barely keepers. All fish caught in less than 20 fow. Also, most of the fish looked like they swallowed footballs. Fat and healthy kinda like me. Haha. Today was about getting out of the house and just fishing with one of my best friends. It was a good day
  6. Yes. Gravel road. When the water is too high for kdock ramp but loo low to put in on the road by kdock we use the Mission Road spot. Decent parking and I actually prefer using it. If water is too high no parking except for a small area at the top of the hill. Room for maybe 7-10 rigs. Depending on how folks park.
  7. Not 100% on Beaver ramp. Sorry.
  8. Put in the water at 720am off of Mission Road. WT 86.7. Fished our typical 1st stop. Top water was the ticket. Walking baits and caught 5 in about an hour. Just enough action to keep us interested. Nothing on poppers, buzz or plopper. Worms and other moving baits were a bust. They were super shallow. Worked the bait about 5 feet off the bank. Key was there needed to be a lone stick or brush. No hits unless there was some sort of isolated wood. 3Ks and 2LM. Had 1 come off at the boat that looked like it might have gone just over 3lbs. Ran down past K Dock and nothing. Big goose egg. Threw top water, worms, tubes, chatter baits, spinner baits and cranks. So we ran up almost to 76 bridge. Found a bank that was bluff and mixed with gravel. Big worms were the ticket. The bite was really light but it was there. Caught 6 in a 100 yard stretch. All were around 2lbs with 1 almost 3. 1 Walleye as a bonus. Off the water at 1215 as the storms were getting close. Weather is getting close to cooling off a bit and I’ll be getting out a lot more. Come on fall!! TIGHT LINES!!!
  9. Got out on BS after the rain yesterday morning. Wasn’t expecting to catch much being post cold front. Put in on the road to K Dock. Went towards Cedar Creek. Caught 2 on top water. Fished from there back to K Dock Marina only hitting little pockets and points. Caught a couple more here and there on big worm in 15-25 fow. Shot down towards Mincey Creek. Big goose egg. Bout 430 we were tired but still wanted to try for another hour so we headed back to the creek where we put in. Bout 515 started seeing a little action and caught 4 in about 25 minutes. All on a walking bait. Then it happened. Bass started chasing Shad and busting the top in the middle of the creek in 30 fow. The next hour was a freaking blast. Lost count of 1 1/2-2 1/2 lb fish all on walking bait if I had to put a number? 12-15 fish. Good mix of Kentucky and LM with 1 smallie. The bass would feed about 5-10 minutes at a time then shut off. Then it would start back a few minutes later 50-100 yards away. Partner and I doubled up several times. Sorry, we were having so much fun we forgot to take pics. Never had that much fun top water fishing.
  10. Yeah we may go in the morning.
  11. So, buddy and I went. 7:15-1:30. Water looked like chocolate milk, but hey, beats Tablerock madness. Didnt get a bite one in the muddy water. Decided to look for cleaner. We fished 3 smaller creeks that you could see the mud line. Hmmmm. We caught a few. 2 small dinks and few ranging from 2 to 3.5. Bladed jig and a finesse style football jig did the job. This is the first time I’ve fished BS with the water so high. Challenging to say the least.

    Rain

Saw a video on Facebook. Wind and debris flying. Looked like circulation the way the debris was flying.

    Rain

1.84” since 330. Was coming down hard for about 30-40 minutes then lightened up. I’m figuring some of y’all have gotten hammered. Looks like quite a bit more on the way.
  14. Compared to last week it was a grind. Started at Big Cedar area. Good color to the water but no activity. Ran south. Briar Branch was caramel color. Be careful. Big tree just out of the mouth. You can see it good but low light might present an issue. Ran back up and hit Mills Branch and Cole Hollow. Bout 8 inches of visibility but cleared up a bit as we got to the back of them. Threw the whole tackle box. Partner got a few on a jerk bait. I cycled through cranks, swim baits, spinner bait, chatter.....you get the idea. Picked up the Ned Rig and used it the rest of the day. Caught a few good ones in both creeks. There is debris in the water but not near as bad as pics I’ve seen of the James River arm. Be safe everyone!
  15. That’s awesome. I haven’t been too successful with them this year compared to past years so far.
  16. Put in at State Park about 8. Pretty dang foggy so we fished around there to the Belle..Zip, nada you get the idea. Fog broke up so we ran down to Brushy Creek. Plenty of fish on beds but no takers. Not a single bite. So headed south to a creek just up from Cricket Creek Marina. My fishing partner 1st cast. A keeper Spot. The first 100 yards he had 7. 3 were keepers. I finally caught a couple on the trusty Ned. The second one was the biggest I’ve caught on the Ned at 3lb 7oz. Lots of fun on 6lb floro. The bite died and we rode up to Mills Branch? Not quite sure of the name. My partner put on a jerk bait class. Total was 17 for him. 7 total keepers and 3lb 11oz toad. This was a darn good day for the lower end at least in our experience. 28 total fish and 10 keepers? I’ll take those numbers all day long. Funny thing 25 fish came on jerk baits. WT 57.8-62.3. I hope everyone had a great weekend.
  17. Day before yesterday we fished Flat Creek to Piney. 10-6. Found the little guys. Only 3 keepers for the day. Quite a few small ones. All on finesse bottom baits. Going to put in at Baxter tomorrow I think. Want to see what’s happening up that way for a change. Oh and all fish caught were less than 10 feet.
  18. I tried it some of the fluorocarbon last year. It’s okay but I don’t have a definite like or dislike about it. I can say I didn’t think it was as sensitive as other brands at least to me. I’m a Seaguar guy and it’s what I like. I have some K9 left over and you are welcome to it so you can make up your own mind. Message me if you are interested.
  19. Rain total here on the west side of Hollister at the house was just a tad over 5 inches. 1 3/4 yesterday. Possible rain tomorrow evening might get the level around 918 or so. Lake has come up a foot in 12 hours or so.
  20. Wondering where the best water color will be tomorrow3/14. With the lake on the rise with all the water coming in I’ve seen pics where the water looks like caramel color. I’m thinking mid lake area might be the best option. Any recommendations?
  21. Water color was definitely good. Visibility was 2-3 feet. Water temp was 48-51. Fished 9:15-4:00.
  22. What a day. Fished the James near the 76 bridge. Peach Orchard, Flat Creek and Bear Den Cove. We lost count of how many fish we caught. All on jerkbaits. We had maybe 10 keepers. Largemouth few and far between. Plenty of spots and a few smallies. Vast majority of boats were crappie fishing. All fish came in less than 15 feet with majority less than 10. Some hookups were dirt shallow. Just though I’d share.
  23. So it’s been about a month since I’ve had a chance to fish. Didn’t get out until about 730am. Morning was slow. Water 56-58 degrees. Threw most of the tackle box at them today. Caught 1 on top. 5 on jigs and couldn’t get bit to save our lives from 930-1130 or so. Finally found a creek covered up with bait fish. Electronics told the tale. Started drop shot. Purple, green pumpkin and Shad colored roboworms, zoom and chompers finesse worms did it. Lost count as to the numbers on the drop shot. We might have had 5 keepers the whole 6 hours today. It was a great day to be fishing. Have a good weekend!
  24. K dock ramp looks pretty good. Put In at another ramp but looks like I saw 10 rigs parked over there. Bass fishing was decent considering cold front. Buddy got a 3+ large mouth and we both got a couple of Good small mouth. Quite a few dinks. Mixed depths from super shallow to 15 feet. All on jigs worked real slow on banks near deeper water or steep banks. Water temp was 65 to start and 68.5 when we left.
  25. Few more days I bet.
